Morning runny nose

This has been annoying me for a while now. Pretty much, every morning, I have a stuffy/runny nose for a couple hours or all morning, plus random sneezing. I really don't know why. I think its an allergy, so I tried seeing a doctor, who prescribed some allegra-d and some nosespray (which I really can't use, because my nose is clogged up), but it doesn't seem to work.

Does anybody experience something similar, or am I just allergic to mornings?

That sounds a lot like the symptoms of sleeping in a dusty room, or possibly a mold allergy if you have some spores floating around your bedroom. If you're not already impeccable about cleaning it I would put in some extra effort to do that, as you spend 8+ hours a day in there. Also, cleaning your sheets frequently (once a week maybe) might help if that's not happening.

Have there been any occasions recently where you've slept somewhere else? If so, did you have the same problem?

Maybe you're allergic to dust mites or something. Have you tried putting one of those hypoallergenic bed pads on your mattress and getting hypoallergenic pillow cases?

This, pretty much. I had the exact same problem as OP for a while, and it actually started getting worse (difficulty breathing) before I got off my ass and decided to clean the shit out of my room. That fixed the problem.

Try some over the counter Zyrtec or Claritin. Sounds like allergies.

I find that I get the same symptoms but only if I wake up earlier than normal. It's a pain in the ass, but I remedied this by resetting my internal clock, ie making my "normal" wake up time the same as my earliest day in the week (6:00am) As an extra benefit, my weekend time is now like 9:00am instead of noon, so now I can actually get shit done in the mornings!

maybe your problem is similar to mine?

Yeah, I've had similar problems, but most egregiously when a) I woke up earlier than I wanted to, b) I was in an area heavy in allergens (either dust inside or pollen outside), c) it was a cold morning. I think it's an immune response triggered by a confluence of those factors + undersleep. Are you getting enough sleep?

I enjoy a good morning shower snot-rocket for my morning stuffiness. No matter where I sleep I am stuffed up in the morning.

what kind of pillow do you sleep on? use a different one, esecially if its a feather pillow (same goes for comforters)

this exact thing happens all the time, and is commonly an allergy with whatever you are sleeping on. (my dad does work with allergies)

Drinking 32 ounces of water with 1/4 tsp of unprocessed sea salt (I recommend celtic sea salt brand) will clear your sinuses right up. May require more than one dose.

You can also create a "nasal drip" with the same solution.

So I've had this same problem from the time I was a teenager. It's been almost 10 years now. Then I discovered breath right strips. It has not completely solved the problem but I am a million times better. I was up breathing clearly and I am more energetic during the day. I am still working on getting rid of the problem all together and I will keep you posted. I have a feeling if I keep using those strips the problem will eventually resolve itself and I won't need the strips anymore
