Up to Rank 5. Just played as Henry. That was fun. Also cleared the revenge missions I think, unlocked No Jacket. I'm not sure if it is my TV, or the lighting, or what, but Travis's arms are hilariously pale. Dude has jacket suntan.
So just for shits I was going through websites to see if they still had No More Heroes listed.
It's new on Amazon.com for 81 bucks o_O
There are a lot of games listed on Amazon (NMH included) that are sold by "Hitgaming". These guys put some totally insane markups on their games. They charge almost $100 for Mario Sunshine and $173 for The Minish Cap (just some of the many ridiculous examples at the main page of their storefront).
Just about every Gamestop I've been to lately have had the NMH/Red Steel bundle. If you're specifically looking for a new copy, it shouldn't be too hard to find.
So I finally just started playing this after buying it release day. What the hell am I doing wrong on the Stamina Treadmill? I cannot figure that shit out. B and Z alternating seems pretty straightforward. Is there a trick to it?

Change your direction so that you're not running off the treadmill.

Yeah, that's such a pain before you figure it out.
The Muscle training, on the other hand, is a pain whether you've figured it out or not. Every time I passed those things (and I eventually passed them all) I felt like I had conquered the world.
Keep moving and don't let her draw a bead on you. When you're on the attack, you should be able to roll towards her just before she fires and get in some solid hits. When you need to recharge, zig-zag like hell to the alcove between the two arms of the supermarket.

After numerous times of trying to beat #1, I gave up, and decided I was going to start over. I clearly wasn't strong enough, and was sick of getting thrown out of a plate glass window.
Decided to play Sweet mode instead...
And what the hell. Maybe it's just me, but everything makes more sense now. I seriously think this game was intended to be played without knowing about the original.
Solution to plate glass window problem: stand on opposite side of room.
Also, the second part of #1 is among the most frustrating fights in the game. I wouldn't throw away a whole Mild run just because that dude is a fucking roadblock (which he is).

I really didn't have that much of a problem with most of the fights aside from that stupid motorcycle and that fight right after, but I think a lot of people didn't bother with the gym. I lost a lot of health to #1, so I imagine if you didn't get past two levels of the treadmill he'd be pretty horrible.

Well, yes, you'd think that, but there are two versions of the fight I've fought. One I do very well and gradually push #1 back, carving his health down to about a third, and push him back, until suddenly I'm too close to the glass. I don't even have to be right next to the glass to get backhanded into the Santa Destroy skyline.
The second version of the fight I can't get him past 50% before I'm being spammed with telepunches in the far corner of the room where I can't right the camera or roll, and, honestly, after 9 bamfs in a row, I'm not in a fight any more, I'm getting unfairly touched by a large man in green while he laughs and I die.
The overall tone of the fight is such I just don't feel I'll carve any satisfaction out of the victory at all. We all(?) fought Jeanne and understood how fucking Samara do-or-die it was, but this guy...well, it's impossible to see him as anything BUT an annoying video game boss, and you can sudafy that idea all you like, but it doesn't matter if I eventually do jettison 95% of the blood of that bastard's body with my lightsaber, he's still an ass, and is not worth my time.
Keep in mind I enjoy NMH enough to actually be Travis for Halloween in 2008. I dig Desperate Struggle. The original, I was willing to work towards the purchase price of each boss/weapon/jacket, because the rewards were worth it. Here, the workload is certainly diminished, but at the same time, that doesn't justify lessening the payoff. And I've heard enough rumors to understand the actual game ending bends back and justifies the Jasper fight, I'd just really rather enjoy the expanse of dayglow hyperviolence all over from the beginning again, and loosen up a little.
Granted, I haven't wiped my progress, and I may go back and fight him a few more times, along the way, but I'd rather enjoy the game rather than be stuck behind the garish finale.
And it all really does fit together on sweet mode. If you're not reaching for your old routine from NMH1, it's surprising how sleek the entire play flows.

I finally got the first game. Currently ranked 7 and loving it.
Though whoever decided that failing a challenge boots you into the street without being able to retry is a dick.
I tried and failed the second baseball mission about 4 times and wanted to kill someone.
Man how in the hell are you supposed to fight the cosmonaut? I get about 60% of his health gone, and the whole area gets covered in white light. Touching the white light kills you instantly.
Looks like the PAL street date is in April. Unless it fake. The video is pretty shit quality. Skip to 1:17 of the video for the release details if your on a spoiler blackout.
Edit: I recall someone saying that Marvelous had tweeted about an April release.
It really doesn't. Everyone thinks that at first, but trust me, it doesn't. I will now spoil something for you:
There will soon be an upgrade in the shop costing LB$ 999999 or so. That battery upgrade causes the Tsubaki III to have unlimited charge, essentially giving you unlimited block and free access to your charge attack, which, if you mash attack after charging it up completely, gives you a full three attacks. Also, with unlimited charge you can combine two of the Lovikov ball moves, the nunchuck-shake knockdown move and the flying down-attack to eliminate whomever you chose damn near instantly, as much as you want. You can't do that with any other beam-katana.

My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.
In addition to what kupi said the finisher where he twirls the blade around before slashing is really good. It has a huge range all around travis.
Yeah I noticed that, but while I was screwing around I found the 3rd move in his regular low-stance just takes a little too long to land. Travis does this stupid long twirly move and I got hit a good few times while he was doing it.
MK III OVERCHARGE (on an arrow directed slash waggle back and forth) will hit and probably kill everything on screen, and possibly some dudes behind you too.
Also, a MKIII charged attack, through all three attacks, will kill more efficiently than attacking with the MKII. Try comparing your upper limits in Gamble Fight between the two techniques; it ought to pan out that way.

honestly I've gotten about the same. Maybe slightly more with Mk III. but only by a couple.

then you're doing it wrong
the charged spin-slash with MK. III is something like a 320-degree arc of death
the MK. II's baseball-bat swing only covers 180 degrees at most
I should have been more descriptive. The side slash definitely kills more dudes.
But at the end of the mission, No matter which one I use, the II or the III, I usually get around the same kills total. If the III is better, its not a great difference.

I got NMH2 off my pile of shame last week and the final rank battle had a major effect on me that I wanted to mention here. This is definitely something I wouldn't want spoiled for me, so don't read below unless you've already beaten the game.
Normally I don't get too upset if a character dies in a game. I might get a bit choked up if it's an Aeris sort of situation but otherwise I'm fairly unmovable. But man, I was majorly upset when Batt Jr had the fake severed heads brought in. I was shocked, horrified, angry and sad when I thought that all the supporting characters were gone. I didn't realize how attached to them I had become over the course of two games! I was pissed that were dead but also seriously disturbed at how their heads were being used to taunt me. Naturally it was a big relief when it was revealed to be a trick. I really shared all of Travis' emotions in those moments. Hats off to Suda 51! His silly action game made me feel emotions that even the most dramatic games never could. Awesome stuff!
I just beat numba 2. Ready to see where Suda takes this. I have maxed out Stamina and need one more muscle upgrade, though I've spent about a hundred grand and still can't make it work. Probably won't bother. I may destroy my Wii Remote if I try and fail it again.

do you have the infinite battery upgrade?
makes a lot of difference
In my experience, the mark III hits more dudes, but it knocks a lot of them down, rather than killing them. The Mark II kills almost every guy it hits.

So is this some kind of ironic thing, on account of Travis being such a creepy gamer otaku stereotype?
Yes, it is that simple!
