What's that ringing? Ting-ting-a-linging in my head~? Oh, you're always there, making me whole. You're always waiting up for me. You're my first kiss, ever so pure, and ever so defiling, once lost, can never be the same. Fuck me. Violate me. Deny me.
Something that's always struck me about Mjolnir, the writing on the side doesn't say anything about not being able to pick it up unless you're worthy. What it says is that if you hold the hammer AND you're worthy then you will get the power of Thor.
I got a Green Lantern DCU figure a few days ago. That brings my total collection to 9, which feels like a lot on my shelf, but for some reason I still want more. I am not comfortable with the idea of having dozens of figures on my shelf, but they keep making ones that I want to get.

That's an old Nightwing from the old Mattel line that I might switch out for the new one.
Deathstroke is the best.
I'm pissed that I never saw any of series 3 except Hal Jordan and one horribly painted Nightwing. I wanted Deathstroke!
It strikes me as odd that i've only ever seen one Deathstroke, which is the one i bought. But much more popular characters like GL and Nightwing are left to warm pegs. My theory is that it's because DCUC is such scalper-bait right now. People see two different Deathstrokes, might not know which one the chase is, and get both just in case, knowing they're going to triple their money regardless because the whole line might as well be shortpacked.
Holy fuck. The Spectacular Spider-man figures are 11 fucking dollars. They are without argument cheaply produced and marketed towards kids, not collectors. Why are they twice what they should be? Fuck hasbro.

Indeed. The only Hasbro stuff i'll get anymore is Mighty Muggs and Superhero Squad-style lines, and i'm about to stop with Superhero Squad. I had a look at the next wave on Entertainment Earth and realized nearly every new 2-pack comes with one new figure and one old, not even repainted figure. So if you've been collecting 'em since the beginning, you're now paying for that, with one 2", non-articulated figure costing $6-7. The last Hulk wave was like that too, with cool characters like Doc Samson, Leader, She-Hulk, and Black Bolt each requiring the REPURCHASE of a Hulk figure from the first wave. Thanks, Hasbro!
That being said, i picked up two of the new Marvel Mighty Muggs, Mark 1 Iron Man and Skrull. The Skrull is particularly fantastic.
The new Muggs are out? Oh god my wallet... it hurts
No kidding. The Marvel ones are hard enough to keep up with, it's absolutely gonna kill me when the GI Joe and Transformers Muggs happen. At least those lines will probably be shorter-lived, but i can think of like a hundred more Marvel characters i'd gladly buy in Mugg form.
The only respite will come when Hasbro inevitably raises the price to $20 a pop next year and i have a good reason to resist.

Every wave that comes out over here has a price jump. Started out at $25 AUD, then $32.95 AUD, the Thanos/Red Skull were $42.95 each and now the new wave are all $39.95 AUD each. So I've gone from buying them all to having to really think carefully about whether I want one. I wouldn't mind the Skrull or Vision for example, but I'm not paying $40 each for them. If they had gone with Super Skrull instead of just a vanilla Skrull I would have bought him.
Sometimes I hate living in this country, it's not a good place for our hobby. We get absolutely reamed in how much everything costs, over and over again.
I'm curious as to what average pay in AUD is? Like how many hours would someone have to work in a shitty retail job to pay forty aussie bucks for a toy?
For someone working in retail, the minimum wage is around $14 an hour before tax. So someone is working probably 5 hours after tax to take home that six inch figure. I think the average annual salary is around 60k.
The problem is it's a small industry anyway, in a country with a small population. To compensate for the lack of consumers we get less stuff for more money, and no equivalents to DCBS or Amazon to give us a discount price for buying stuff locally online.
A few months ago when the US dollar was nearly 90cents it was insane, now it's dropped back to about 65cents which closes the gap somewhat, but it's often still cheaper buying stuff internationally and posting it over than just buying from a shop here.

Come live in America already. We've got cheap toys and the best hookers.
is that new iron man run out? I will buy the cap one in a heartbeat to put in my office.
I saw the Captain America Iron Man probably almost two months ago in a Wal-Mart, and then just recently saw the Stealth Armor style one but not the Cap one when they did a restock.
Picked up some great toys myself today! My LCS has been occasionally getting old loose toys in and selling 'em on the cheap, and today they had about FIFTY of the old 90's ToyBiz Marvel figures, from all different lines. Most of them complete!
I got Kingpin, Tusk, Super Skrull, Dr. Octopus (animated series version), and Iceman (the very first clear version), all complete and minty for $2 a pop. So awesome. I wish i had more toy money at the moment, hopefully some of them will still be there in a little while.
Hey, more good stuff today. K-Mart for some reason had a TON of their figures buy one get one free. So i got a Movie Masters TDK Batman and Gotham City Thug to go along with the Joker i managed to find a while back. I was never actually intending to collect the line, but hey...half price. I noticed when i got home that the Thug was lifting off his card, so this necessitated the opening of all three when i was just going to hang them up. Dammit, now i have to find shelf space.
Also picked up some buy 1 get 1 Hulk Superhero Squad figures...Grey Hulk w/Leader and Hulk w/Zzzax. Cool, because as much as i love the Squad, i'm not feeling the constant repacks they're pulling. So now i can pretend i just got a Leader/Zzzax 2-pack and be happy.

Take a look at that beauty..
Why is it not shaped like any version of Mjolnir ever depicted?

Here's the classic version from the same folks.
edit:
if i had $400 dollars to throw away, i would be all over that.
it's a little bigger than you but it's just a normal sized heroclix
Unless you're the Hulk and you tossed Thor into space.
Love the comments. "$89? It didn't cost that much to film Evil Dead!"
That's just cuz the power of Hulk is Stronger than the power of Thor.
