I'm working on a "The Monarch" costume for halloween. So far I have the crown and the wrist cuffs done, and they look pretty sweet. But now I'm on to the stuff I can't make out of cardstock and spraypaint. I need to figure out how I'm going to do the rest of the costume.
I figure for the wings I'll use
these. However, I'm a fairly tall guy (6'3") and I have no idea if those will work right. I plan on painting them with some sort of flexible paint to get the right pattern on them.
Then there's the beard and eyebrows. I think I'm going to buy some
crepe wool and actually build up both. However, I've never used the stuff before, so if anyone has any experience with it, I'd love some tips.
As for the breastplate, I think I'll buy something like
this, try to smooth it out as much as possible (maybe with some wall filler or something, and then paint it. Dunno about this piece. I'd love something a little smoother.
For the shoes I'm going to buy some theigh high boot toppers and paint them as well as an old pair of boots I have. Won't be as accurate as I'd like, but I can't justify buying jester shoes as well as all the rest of this crap.
And then as far as the black unitard, well, I'm not sure. I could buy something like
this, cut the hole for the face, use spirit gum to attach it to my face correctly. But really this seems to be the most expensive part of the costume. Also, I'm kinda scared of wearing a skin tight unitard, not sure how to "effectively hide my thunder". Maybe by wearing some long johns under it or something? If anyone can think of a better way to do the black suit, I'd love to hear it.
No I don't.
