My favorite was a Hunter GL ninja'ing the dragonfang blade from BWL because it was a "Dragon themed item and clearly designed for hunters" Tier 2. Our Rogues (myself included), were not pleased. I've probably told that story about 16,000 times but I still get a kick out of it.
That is quite depressing. Also, thanks for helping me not do my java homework. I hate that shit.
Makes me rage just reading that shit.
Remember the corehound tooth?
Yeah, that's only the beginning of the retardation I was subjected to.
Other examples:
-Silent-bidding dkp system which was completely and utterly abused by officers and their close friends. Like, not only DKP fixing by whispering bids to their friends, but like the guy tracking DKP wouldn't charge the correct amounts for their friends.
-Getting Corehound Tooth and Perditions Blade defaulted to Warriors over Rogues.
-A hunter who forced a Warrior to spend 100% of their DKP on the two handed sword from the first guy in BWL (forgot his name), when that very same sword was sharded the week before. He did it because he didn't like him.
My own personal hatred was vying for CTS for months. Literally months of doing BWL, stacking up TONS of DKP and never buying shit because I was determined as fuck to have it.
It finally drops, I spend all my dkp on it.

And yes, the fucking Honor swords were superior to CTS.
I am so glad I never raided beyond ZG in vanilla WoW.
Whew.
Thats just a shitty guild, not all guilds were like that.
Seriously.. I wouldn't play with guys like that for more than a raid
Yeah, I always hear complaints like that but I really don't understand why people put up with so much bullshit. The guild I did MC/BWL/AQ40 with was a pretty fun group all around.

I don't think of my guild as a shitty guild, since we've been around since the summer of 05 and still going strong, but we have had our share of raiding drama. It's something everyone experiences to some degree.

Trouble is, if I had a dollar for every anecdote I've read about guilds doing things just like that back in vanilla WoW, I'd never have to pay for another month's subscription again.
I'm sure it wasn't true of every raiding guild, but it was the case for enough of them (even the one I raided with on my alliance character pulled shady shit because of the RNG and DKP) that I could comfortably call it "common".

As a Rogue, finding any guild to take you in was harder than getting a job in real life. I put around 50+ full blown guild applications in before I finally was given a chance for a trial run in an even semi-succesfull raiding guild.
Our class was so ridiculously over populated, that basically not putting up with that shit meant I would never get to see that content at all.
So I basically endured it for as long as possible, because I really wanted to see the end of AQ-40 and Naxxramas.
Oh well.
In BC I said "fuck it" rerolled horde and now play with a bunch of badass motherfuckers who i've grown really close to. The shitty part is that I gave up seeing any and all raid content in doing so.
Thank god for the new 10 man raid design in WotLK, now I can have the best of both worlds.
This is of course if my bastard guildies come back from WAR.

Everyone has drama, Guild Leadership abusing its power to get gear at the expense of the majority of members is more than drama.
For 25's, /rolling and loot councils are, in my experience, horrible.
No loot system is impossible to abuse or screw up, because they're created by, run by and maintained by people, who are innately flawed, but I'll take a transparent DKP system over "let's see who's sucking up to / sucking off the officers this week" and "let's see who the RNG likes/hates this week" any day.
Suicide Kings has some intriguing possibilities, but it's really just a simplified DKP that requires a lot of work to be anything but an "all or nothing" approach to it.
The best loot system is the one that works for a given group, but there are too many hundreds of thousands or even millions of players using DKP to just dismiss it entirely out of hand.

First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
so i'm thinking about renewing my subscription, but there was one problem i had with wow, instances could take like 2 hours to run through, is it any faster to run through an instance since 3.x has hit? or does it still take that long?

Not going to get into a whole "thing" on this because we've both bludgeoned that horse into a fine mist at this point, but the reasoning of "a bunch of people do it so it must be good" isn't exactly without its flaws.
That said, you hit the nail on the head with "the best loot system is whatever works for the given group". I'm on board with that logic.
Anyway, wasn't intending to get into a loot system discussion, so let's go back to talking about how the Horseman is collectively screwing millions of people. Millions!
They nerfed my Charm of Swift Flight. They should have renamed it while they were at it, since it doesn't give 10% bonus to speed anymore. No, they just reduced the mana cost. /facepalm

Man we just let people roll, unless they've already won something that raid.
Same. If no one wants it, you can go for it, or if the only people who want it are all off-spec (a tanking shield going to a DPS warrior), well, depending on HOW off-spec it is. Like if the DPS Warrior wants it because he'd rather tank, it's considered "Main" then. But that's about as confusing as it gets.
I was not around last year but I got the helm when I tanked him on my warrior for the first time. I have yet to get the pet because of greedy people but I do have the pumpkin head
Achievements kind of shafted people who collected for collecting's sake. I don't give a shit about pets and fluff items and prior to this patch I would always pass on them because it's worthless, space-wasting shite, but now I'm competing with everyone else trying to get my piece of the achievement pie. And I don't even care about achievements, but if they're staring me in the face I feel compelled.
As for the rarities, I've done it 11 times now (one guy did it twice) and I've seen 2 squashlings, 1 helm, 1 hat, and 3 or 4 brooms. (Both the chars I ran it with ended up with brooms, one also got the hat. Brooms are so awesome and make me wish mounts were instacast to begin with.)

But it's not gonna happen.
Then me and the other warrior got kicked because the others wanted to bring in people who could summon him again. Fuckers.

It's not all that rare, is it? Was I just absurdly lucky to see it drop the first time I killed him?
