Achievements kind of shafted people who collected for collecting's sake. I don't give a shit about pets and fluff items and prior to this patch I would always pass on them because it's worthless, space-wasting shite, but now I'm competing with everyone else trying to get my piece of the achievement pie. And I don't even care about achievements, but if they're staring me in the face I feel compelled.
As for the rarities, I've done it 11 times now (one guy did it twice) and I've seen 2 squashlings, 1 helm, 1 hat, and 3 or 4 brooms. (Both the chars I ran it with ended up with brooms, one also got the hat. Brooms are so awesome and make me wish mounts were instacast to begin with.)
Does it really shaft you? Unless there are some super rewards that I haven't heard about yet...
I think he's not in the crowd that collected for collecting's sake, and that's his point.

Neither am I. All my achievements are just by virtue of having played for 4 years. I don't feel shafted by having nothing in the seasonal events or anything. And won't unless there's some insanely good reward.
I tried fishing, on my first character. Went out to the pond, cast my lure. Being on dialup at the time and so close to launch stuff was still laggy as all hell. I failed about 5 times before I gave up. Forever.
Four years later, that character is still my main and his fishing still sits at 1/50.

I have both the flying horse and the sinister squashling. You may all hate me now.
I've seen the mount drop twice (won the first), 2 squashlings, 1 sword, 1 plate helm (no cloth? helm that is necessary for the achievement), like 5 or so brooms (last time everyone had one, I think we may have even let one rot or go to an alt we brought in for summoning), and 80 billion rings (I almost said crappy rings, but since they were massive upgrades to my crappily-geared priest, I should keep quiet.. )
The sword is almost cooler than the squashling.. and the helmet on a gnome looks hilarious (I'll have to take a screenshot tonight)

What are you talking about? You're going the wrong way with what I was saying. I'm talking about people in here who seem to really care about getting fluff pets and shit. I'm saying those people got the shaft because people like myself who pre-3.0 would pass on it because it's a waste of space are now rolling on it for achievements.
I never said I feel shafted for not having achievements. I actually said I don't even care about achievements.
You guys are killing me. My post had nothing to do with pity for myself, it was pity for other people.

My goal in the face of achievements is to play the game and watch them fall into my lap. I am intentially not doing the halloween achievements because I don't want to feel pressured into hunting down a gnome to throw a pumpkin at or what-have-you. And I've still got a number of them anyway.
I will eventually run all the instances because I want to see them and they're a good source of cloth and greens, not because omg gotta get all those achievements now.
Took me twenty minutes to find a Troll in Shatt for the pumpkinhead achievement.
We are pretty rare.
I just rolled a troll rogue! Seems like such an obvious choice.
Thrown and bow? Check.
More damage against beasts? Nice. Of course I have skinning for the new crit rating+ so that goes hand in hand.
Attack speed increase? Got it. It does stack with Slice and Dice, right? Even if not, attack speed is always great.
Less movement impairment? Icing.

Jamaican voice? Yes!
Purpleness? Yes!
Making armour look like shit? Yes!
Being not another bloody Tauren shaman? Priceless.

Wait.
No boots means armor looks like shit?
Also: Trolls are among the best casters in the game. You'll appreciate the buff when you're casting heals like a mofo.
Whats the name of the mod that tells you how much dps you'e doing like that?
I swear, during HH i, as a just-under-kara equipped fury warrior was doing much more dps than i usually do in similar situations. I'd have killed to know what that equated to in this dps number people mention...
Do i get an Achievement for this crappiest of totp's?

Recount is the most popular one nowadays, but there's also DamageMeters, SW_Stats, Violation, Recap... maybe a few others, I'm not sure.

Any relation to the old classic? Haven't had a working version of that since 1.10. Where might I find it?

Huh, it looks like the author decided to abandon it after 2.4. Which is just as well, seeing as not many people still used it.

The only drawback to that, though, is waiting a full year to get it.
Actually working from scratch the shortest amount of time you can do "What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been" is 3 years, because you can only get 1 of the Children's Week pets a year.

you only need the achievement for one of the pets, not the one for all 3.
I use recount for dps atm, too. How do these people do sub 400 dps you guys are talking about? My 67 mage and Shaman can put at least 600 dps out each in greens and a few blues. Heck I put more out as prot speced on my warrior before the patch than what some of you guys are saying? Are they really just drooling on their keyboards?

There are some truelly aweful ppl playing this game. Examples include but arent limited to AoE classes that cant out dps the combination of infinite swipe and the maul glyph in AoE heavy 5 mans(aka every 5 man atm).
the achievement does require the pet though, which I only saw once last year and not at all this year.
considering it also requires a brewfest mount, they might as well call the big one "I got super lucky on holiday boss rolls" / "I poopsocked and lied about having a summon up all day to get this"

4 Years.
And fishing still sucks a mighty cock.

Not really it was fun when you could do it in a battleground

I'm still bitter about the rank 11 mount fiasco, personally. I don't feel the need to earn another mount after that.
I remember it changed from marks to gold, 9g a piece, then back to marks.
I bought all 4 mounts when I was a General for 9g a piece. Best 28g I ever spent to have 4 black mounts.

Instead of removing the option of acquiring them when they removed the honour system, they handed them out to every player and their mother.

's why you should have rolled Orc.
I just did HH with a bear tank, a ret pally, an spriest, and a holy pally.
the other ret pally and spriest were doing <500dps and the bear couldn't hold aggro from me so I just had to auto-attack and judge.
Seriously how can you be doing less than 500dps
terrible people are terrible.

I love that quote. From the bottom of my heart.
You know that the achievement requires Hallowed Helm, a blue cloth item, right? The Horseman's Helm does not count towards it.
oh wow
considering it also requires a brewfest mount, they might as well call the big one "I got super lucky on holiday boss rolls" / "I poopsocked and lied about having a summon up all day to get this"
One of my guild's mages got overexcited when Horseman's Helm dropped and rolled need on it, beating my warrior's roll of 94 with 97.
edit: we made fun of him
