Just bought a PS3... are there games?

I just bought a PS3 as a Blu-Ray player, the 80 gig one on the market right now that unfortunately does not have PS2 backwords compat (which totally sucks) but I figured if I'm buying a Blu-Ray player for $300.00, I might as well get a PS3 for $100.00 more. Thing is, I have paid absolutely 0 attention to the games coming out for it. I got 2 questions.

First do games that come out for both PS3/360 look the same, or does one tend to have sharper graphics?

Second, what are some good exclusives? To give you an idea what I'm into, here are some of my faves on 360/wii:

360:
Orange Box
Dead Rising
Turok (don't make fun of me, I love dinosaurs)

Wii:
Res Evil 4
No More Heroes
Mario Galaxy
Smash Brawl
Zelda

Backlog Challenge: 0%
0/8

PS2
FF X replay

PS3
God of War 1&2 HD
Rachet and Clank Future
MGS 4
Prince of Persia

360
Bayonetta
Fable 3

DS
FF: 4 heroes of light

Gamewise, 360/PS3 multi-platform games are pretty much identical in every way. So buying them is just a matter of your preferred system. As for games, Uncharted is really good.

Multiplat games having sharper graphics etc depends on the developer. Some take great pains to make sure the games look and run great on both systems (COD4) while some do not (Orange Box, Assassin's Creed).

Awesome PS3 exclusive games are as follows:

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (fun platformer/shooter, looks gorgeous, like playing a Pixar movie)
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (platformer/shooter with more emphasis on the shooting, looks gorgeous, awesome animation and best acting I've seen in a game in a long time. Indiana Jones story meets Firefly dialogue and characters)
Warhawk (multiplayer only third person shooter. Steep learning curve but flying around the warhawks is awesome and there's so many different ways to play. Check some videos)
Folklore (goregous action-RPG with a cool mystery storyline. The art direction is amazing. Interesting and non-annoying use of motion controls)
Heavenly Sword (God of War with a girl and really awesome mo-cap. It's a rental, but a good rental)

    Coming soon:
LittleBigPlanet (coming out on the 21st, just calling it a platformer with extensive level creation tools doesn't do it justice. Check out the LBP thread)
Valkyria Chronicles (alternate reality WWII strategy/third person shooter/JRPG with kickass sketchy/cell shading style graphics. Check out some trailers. Demo up on Euro PSN. Coming out Nov. 11 in NA)

edit: How could I forget MGS4? What Chance said.

GTA IV is still the best game on both systems.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is one of the PS3's most celebrated titles, for good reason. Wonderful audio and voice work, excellent (action) gameplay and the best cutscenes this gen. Period.

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction - you mentioned you wished yours had PS2 compatibility. In that case, you may already be familiar with R&C, and you know you need this game.

MGS4 is MGS4. If that information doesn't sell you, don't sweat it.

Siren: Blood Curse is the best survival horror game this gen - until Dead Space comes out on Tuesday.

    COMING SOON:
-LittleBIGplanet is everything they say and more.
-Valkyria Chronicles made me kick Bioshock from my 'must buy' list. And I don't play RPGs. If you like RPGs at all, get a European account and download the demo off their PSN store. You'll be doing yourself a huge favor.

    Edit: beat'd!

you utterly and incontrovertibly have to get uncharted, and littlebigplanet when it comes out next week

otherwise i'd strongly suggest spending some money on psn titles. pixeljunk monsters and eden, wipeout hd, warhawk, gran turismo prologue, super stardust hd and everyday shooter are all brilliant, but there's so much more stuff on there, fun little stuff, big stuff, everything, that it's one of the system's best unique assets

    It's worth noting that...
    -Heavenly Sword
    -Uncharted
    -Ratchet & Clank Future: ToD
    -Siren: Blood Curse
    -Warhawk
    -and, I think Folklore

all have demos up on PSN. Valkyria Chronicles you have to grab off the Euro store though. They're tryin' to screw NAers by making you pay 2.99 for Qore (which does seem to have above-average content this month).

Already mentioned by bsjezz, but I strongly encourage the purchase of Wipeout HD.

It's the best deal on PSN to date. $20 for what could have very well been a $40-$60 PS3 title.

I go by what my friends play. Since they all primarily use their 360, with one only having a 360. I tend to buy multi-platform multiplayer games, that they are interested in playing, for the 360.

If all else fails, and a game is exactly identical on both consoles, I usually go with the PS3 title.....
....Because of the game related Splash screen and soundtrack that plays while highlighting the game in the XMB....
    .....shutup....

It's been so long since I've posted here, I've removed my signature since most of what I had here were broken links. Shows over, you can carry on to the next post.

My personal favorite out of all the great games is Warhawk, just noticed this week that they added a demo. No idea what the demo is especialy since the game is entirely online, but suggest checking it out, especialy with the amount of shooters you have listed. Pro-tip: Tanks burn nicely.

I love the music when you've got The Orange Box in. Siren's still freaks me out.

Does Warhawk have a offline component? I don't have a real reliable internet connection, so I'm not too sure about on-line only, and I also got a PS3 and I was wondering if there is anything similar to Ace Combat for the PS3

There's no single player mode, but it has offline local multiplayer

I've heard mixed things about Blazing Angels - but it's got a demo too. Dunno if it's got offline MP.

...There's training mode but that realy dosn't count. I suppose some fun could be had with split screen and some friends on smaller layouts. But in all honesty with out internet there isn't much game to warhawk, it's meant for masive 16 on 16 games, and jetpacks.
