Obama Thread: Good news for people who like bad news

The name's Terrendos. If you're gonna mock me, at least spell the name right. Or, y'know, come up with a hilarious parody of my name that demonstrates my right-wing nutjob thoughts.
How about you respond to what I've laid out about income taxes?
Its okay Weaver she cleared herself of any wrongdoing
Why don't the underbelly of the Democratic party start rumors of McCain making friends with the Vietcong or something when he was a POW. I'm sure someone more sinister than I could phrase such an association in such a way as to make it sound legitimate.
He's too busy quibbling about a one-letter spelling error
Also Evander, you are generally the bright light of information in these threads
yeah i don't entirely understand why paying taxes has become the ultimate evil
the government needs money to do things
He was whining about his father and naming names and spilling everything in no time.
Im' not judging the man for this but lets not pretend about his heroism here. He was a miserable student, a miserable soldier, miserable husband, and remains a miserable politician
So a long while ago when I was active on another forum, there was a discussion of China and eventually minimum wage was brought up. This one dude who was pretty knowledgeable (forum smart guy type) threw down the claim that minimum wage would be a detriment to the Chinese economy and that minimum wage in USA is bad and I was all like "buh?"
Was he just being stupid or is there a tiny morsel of truth somewhere deep in this
Folks run in here, say that higher income taxes will hurt small businesses, and when it pointed out to them that the tax code was designed to protect businesses from income taxes, they disappear.
It'd be one thing if they actually learned their lesson, but no, the same folks will jst pop up again later repeating the same things.
In other news, I just printed out the paperwork to switch over to an independant. Maryland deadline is tomorrow.
Let's talk about this for a bit. How in the FUCK can she go out and say that report found that she did nothing wrong when the report obviously says she abused her power and acted unethically? You don't have to commit a crime to be a power hungry douche bag. Why aren't more liberals talking about this????

The only thing I ever hear is that minimum wage increases raise the cost of living.
Which is retarded because in most places the cost of living already far outstrips the minimum wage anyway
How about we finally move on from that and talk about taxes Obama has voted for in the Senate?
I posted this in the last thread too.
tWeaver; awesome.
Though some joker in my family signed my email up for some wacky Republican list, so every time I check it there is some craziness waiting for me
Another fool came in here and brought it up again
You mean the budgetary resolutions which McCain also voted on?
Minimum wage is bad for companies, but it is good for individuals.
It is inefficient, but it is equitable.
Economics is about ballancing equity and efficiency. Some folks throw equity out the window, though.
Ultimately, for an economy as a whole, and a society, a lack of a minimum wage results in people being worked to death, and functional slavery, and all those sorts of things (in absences of labor unions, of course.)
I don't know enough about conditions in modern-day China, since my personal area of work is US goivernment contract compliance, but imagine that some of the human rights violations we're always hearing about would be lessened, or even removed, through the advent of a minimum wage. It might also hurt some companies, but I am of the personal philosophy that a company which cannot afford to pay their employees an equitable wage is not a company that deserves to exist.
wouldn't it make more sense to talk about his proposed tax plans?
Let's see... I don't like it when the government takes people's money. With the money that might be saved from the government's hands, that business has the potential to expand, hire additional workers, blah blah blah, Ayn Rand, etc.
I'll make you a deal.
Let's discuss mine first, and THEN move on to yours.
I'm game if you are.
Seems pretty simple to follow, I think people just ignore it because being wrong makes them feel inadequate.

I somehow got on the townhall.com mailing list and I don't know how. I requested 4 times to be removed until I finally had to send them an email.
Half the emails from 6 months ago were about Obama's secret muslin ties.

Considering the likelihood of any candidate following through with their campaign promises I would say past voting record of tax raises different from the ones he is proposing at least deserve an explanation. So no I don't think it makes more sense to talk about what is clearly more popular now.
You are wrong about the tax raises in his past first of all--and if you count budget resolutions as tax hikes then McCain has done FAR worse.
Second of all your bare cynicism about campaign promises is pretty much worthless and unfounded and has no place in rational discussion.
no fuck you
you do not diss the new deal
that is where I draw the fucking line
My most recent o_O one was "Help defeat the Muslim threat for only $7 a day!"
So you think trickle down works.
but you criticize his tax plan all the time. clearly it is not popular with everyone.
yeah
hire additional workers that they're not paying a reasonable wage to
like Evander said, if an employer can't pay a liveable wage to his employees he doesn't belong in business
it cracks me up that you talk about minimum wage limiting small business growth which creates more jobs, all while ignoring that the additional jobs created would also mostly be below minimum wage
boy, what a boon to the economy
why can't the company just expand right away, then?
companies pay taxes on money that is unspent. If they need the capital for hiring more workers, then why not just hire more workers?
and if you're going to get into "the gubmint is tooking MY monies" stuff, then let me ask you, should individuals have to go out and pave their own roads at their own expense? Should we each have to raise our own individual armies (or maybe a few of us go in together) for defense?
Bush, a republican, took a budget which had a surplus (meaning we were spending LESS than we were taxing) and turned it into an enormous yearly deficeit. That doesn't sound like small government to me.
Why do that when I can feed a hungry child for $1 a day

That'd be hilarious if it wasn't so scary
