So I was browsing around today and I found this post on Destructoid about Machinarium, a new point-and-click adventure game from the creators of Flash masterpieces Samorost and Samorost 2. You control an incredibly cute robot:

through a variety of extremely beautiful environments.

Here's the trailer.

Release date is (vaguely) the first half of 2009, and should be a low or no purchase price.

I'm excited.

That's awesome. I was wondering when the Samorost creator(s) would make a new game. The art design looks even more fantastic here.

It's cute but I'm not paying money for a game which has not much more content than pixel hunting. Talking about Samarost there.

So did you watch the video? It looks like it has items and such which makes me think it leans more heavily towards the standard point and click.

The way it handles the usual adventure game mechanic is pretty cool - you can only interact with items when you're standing close to them, and everything you need to solve a puzzle is on one screen. The only thing is that items you can interact with aren't immediately obvious... which might lead to something like pixel hunting.

According to the D-toid preview, though, the game will have a low or no cost. So I'm not going to worry about the price vs. content factor as much.
