Is it just me, or is the new Playstation Store now really fast?

In fact, the whole XMB interface feels like it loads faster.

Edit: In-game XMB still feels slow however :|

The controller battery display still appears over the clock though, it really shouldn't take this long to fix that...

honestly i'd much prefer an option to turn off the clock entirely

The dashboard clock? Wasn't always there... and I thought there was an option to hide it...

I played around with it, but I'm not familiar enough with the PS3 yet to notice any changes at all. People say Account Management is better, but all I see are a bunch of sub-menus.

Anyway someone add me as a friend so I can experience PSN. I own DMC4, GTA4, Warhawk and Resistance. I'm renting Uncharted right now (it's awesome).

Gametrailers does indeed work on the new firmware. Kinda cool checking out trailers, though they take a while to stream.

I should really buy SuperNova. Uncharted I beat in.. 7 days of rental? My dumb ass played through on normal first, so I had to beat it 3 times total instead of just twice.

I should really finish Pixeljunk Eden.. but Burnout has been eating me alive. Trying desperately to finish that against all odds before LBP drops and my life ends.

Yea, the bombing trophy took the longest, but it’s not that hard once you get a strat down. I watched a few youtube videos, and came up with my own... now I can do it a lot more frequently... helped a few friends with it haha.

SuperNova came out of no where. My buddy bought and downloaded it... and then downloaded it on my PS3. I had watched a video of it, and wasn't all that impressed, but once I started playing it... started growing on me. Most of the trophies are really easy to obtain. When my 60G died, I just went ahead and bought it on my own, because I didn’t want to have to wait on my friend to come over to login to redownload it, ha.

I was thinking about picking up Eden, but since WipeOut just came out and I haven't touched WarHawk, I figure I work on these before popn money down on Eden.

... but yea, that bomber trophy should be GOLD ... if not PLATINUM!!!

Oh how sad that I actually care about these things.... Not enough to even try getting Pain's trophies though, whoever thought of them is a complete and utter idiot.

I installed the PSP Update and it's pretty good. I signed into my PSN account and went onto the store. It looks just like the PS3's one, so it's pretty good. The new keyboard interface is probably my favourite part of the update though, it took them WAY too long to realise the cellphone one was terrible.

Now they'll hopefully start work on getting friends lists and messaging working on the PSP.

I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

I was able to get the bombing run through perseverance and refining strategy, but I can't seem to get the 10 nukes one on endless mode. Once those flying saucers and worm things start coming in waves, I use most of my bombs and then die (same with the mass quantities of red pyramids that come).

For Stardust on Endless if you use over 5 bombs in the first 4 minutes you're doing it wrong. Boost is the best crutch you will ever have. There's also a bit of luck in not getting stomped with the red pyramids and meteor showers over and over. You should be leveling up and using ice breaker first and most often. It is the best survivability weapon as you can be half a screen away and kill those gods blasted turrets or triangles chasing you. It also shoots incredibly quickly. Of course switch to the appropriate weapons for the appropriate enemies like the gold melter for the buzzsaws. But pretty much moving away from your targets into empty areas, firing ice breaker everywhere, saving boost for when you need to get out of dodge, and making sure you don't lose any lives early.

Even though you shouldn't be using too many, don't be afraid to use bombs to save your life. Minutes 5+ you will be using upwards of 10 bombs a minute depending on what hits you. Personally I always use boost to trigger the nukes as it's an instant pop. If the pyramids are what's killing you, get better at flying away while shooting at them with the ice breaker. You can live through pyramid waves in minutes 1-5 by just backpeddaling, boosting when you feel trapped, bombing when absolutely necessary, and liberally applying ice breaker to faces (switching to gold melter if it's maxed and they're bunched and very close.)

Fuck that bombing one. I'm just not that good at dodging rocks.

the later red pyramid waves i just can't see a way to survive them without just bombing your way out. still though, endless is easily my favorite mode. its short enough and intense enough that i can just replay it and replay it and replay it.

somehow i got up into the low 400s on the overall leaderboard for Bomber mode (probably been knocked down a bunch since the last time i looked at it), i haven't been able to get anywhere even close to that before or since.

Yeah that's what the bombs are for. Spammy spam spam. Honestly the best thing to do is try to filter them in through some of the uh.. weird.. cross blocks that drop to make walls. If you can get through a small hole and force them to come through that while you plow them with ice breaker you can save on some bombs.

I personally find it slow, but functional. I can't anything besides low res to work, and it doesn't look great all zoomed in, but what can you do.

I would personally love if Sony integrated hulu and netflix streaming into the ps3 firmware, it would make my PS3 worth the money I paid it for based on its media capabilities alone, but that might just be a pipe dream. Apparently PlayOn can stream hulu from your PC to the PS3, might have to try that out.

That just reminded me to get the PSP update. I got 2.50 last night and it worked perfectly aside from a Downloading Hiccup (Lost connection to the server first try at about 3%. I assume I dropped because my DSL sucks.) and still works fine to my knowledge. So, yeah. Thanks on that.

I didn't see much idea for usage of this feature personally, so it's not a problem for me, but it is pretty annoying that hands are tied again and we have to wait on lazy devs to help us out. (Trophies, Music, Games..) Oh well. Them's the breaks.

I expect to be passed by a lot of people once more games start supporting them. I've been lucky in that I either wanted or already had a lot of the games that support trophies so far.

Btw, the bomb trophy in Super Stardust HD is pretty difficult but it's definitely doable. When the first bomb ship appears, don't blow it up, follow it. Eventually a second bomb ship will appear and with all luck it'll fly near the first bomb ship. Blow both of those up and you just scored yourself 4 bombs for the price of 1. Do that twice in one game and you'll get the trophy.

Ah so it is essentially a non feature. That is pretty lame. Think about it this way, I don't need to patch games on the PC to take screenshots with an external program, why should they have to patch games on the PS3 to take screenshots with the firmware?

It has to be programmed in before it becomes available. The PS3 isn't running Windows, if you didn't notice. That other machine? The one made by the guys who also make Windows? Yeah it can't take screenshots either.

I think ML was talking more about the state of most 3rd party dev studios. Alot of them seem to be half-assing the ps3 games (cough)Orangebox(cough). While there may be some awsome games it seems like the devs outside of incogneto, insomniac and sonys japan just don't care once the game is out on disk. Preaty sure the online co-op for lego starwars is still broken for example.

No game dev will program in a screenshot feature until reviews start mentioning it as a bad thing and taking points off for it.

    Except the good ones.

    Which are getting rare, lately.

Yeah nothing good is coming out.

    He missed the point anyway.

Unless that's a listing of games that have screenshots enabled.

Since that's all I'm talking about, not whatever he got his knickers in a twist about.
