How different are the two unlockable characters in playstyle?
The first character is basically Bayonetta only with unlimited dodges, can only enter witch time by dodging the moment you get hit and I think has a few different combos.
The second character doesn't have a health bar,but dies once you get hit two times and plays totally different to Bayonetta.
the hairstyle is a little mystifying, but the glasses can probably be explained by the developers slapping every sexual cliche possible into bayonetta's design
her legs are hideously overlong
she walks like one of those dashboard-hula dolls dance
Palin's entire face structure is so completely different. The only traits they share are being white, female, wearing glasses and having dark hair.
They both wear that beehive hairstyle with the front swept over. And their eyes & mouths are not dissimilar.
Their eyes are not the same. Their similarity is that they are a caucasian girls eyes. Look closely at the bottom of palin's eyes, there's a misshapen ridge there and they are also quite wide.
B's eyes are much narrower with perfect curves. Slightly asianised.
The lips are the same, the hairstyle is the same. That's two features out of the bazillian different elements that differentiates two people, one of which is changeable on a whim. So it's a hell of a stretch based on superficial similarity.
I mean I don't care, I just think it's a silly comparison because they're only briefly similar.

I never played it, but I badly wanted the DMC3 special edition for Virgil, because he seemed to play very differently than Dante.

Basically,it's because Bayonetta was first shown around a time when almost everyone's "woman with glasses" was Palin because she was just EVERYWHERE.
Weapons are the same for the first char, not sure about the second. And they both seem to play differently enough.
Okay, so I went back and played the demo again. I took the time during the loading screens to learn how to combo moves together and ignored all the advertising that I've seen so far.
I really, really enjoy this game. Like, a lot. Once you get your flow down and keep moving from enemy to enemy without breaking combo... there's a good, good feel to it.

Oh I never saw anyone mention this but you can hit select during the pause screens to enable "practise mode" which lets you stay there as long as you like to check out combos and practise doing them.
You can't do everything since some things require an enemy to practise on BUT as long as you haven't bought all your techniques you can enter try mode on a technique to try out things there.
I don't know if there's another way to practise on a dummy enemy.

I just found that out today, too.
Accidentally pressed back on the 360 controller and got it.
People say Bayonetta looks like Sarah Palin and Tina Fey, but I've looked at both side by side and I have NO fucking clue what you people are talking about.
I think the people saying that are blind, have very poor eyesight, don't even really look at the facial features/proportions/skin tone/complexion of someone's face and body, or think that just because someone is the same gender, race, wears glasses and have similar hair hue, they ARE the same person.

I think my biggest problem with Dante was just his lack of mobility after zipping around back and forth with Nero.
1. Dash + air dash.
2. Dance Macabre also has a dash.
3. Stinger cancels to million stab, which will get you close to enemies real fast without knockback.
4. Air Trick makes all of the above irrelevant.
What Nero has going for him is that he's simply more straightforward. And buster wrecks shit.
Nero has a great reward for time played. If you swap your gun and devil trigger so you can constantly charge blue rose 3 and learn to get max act a reliable amount of time so you can do triple ex streaks, max double downs, shuffles and caliburs the constant and flexible damage out put he has puts Dante to shame. Dante has fantastic damage but he requires perfect positioning and a bit of luck, whereas Nero if you get the max rev points down just unleashes effortless destruction all over everything in front of him and you don't need to buster unless you feel like it.
This is true.
But I still refuse to rebind my controls because I'm hardcore like that. Real men charge their guns on face buttons while contorting their thumbs around in ways that are not anatomically advisable.
You should care less about being a real man and more about playing the punk emo japanese guy better. :P
It really does upgrade his arsenal. It does ridiculous damage, stuns pretty much anything, always ups style even if you do nothing but spam it it's just the best thing ever.
But if I don't assert my masculinity through thick-headed stubbornness and nonsensical displays of virility, how will people know I don't like dudes?
Trust me, I abuse charge shot as much as you do. I'm just mildly less efficient at everything else due to the tip of my thumb always being occupied. Jump canceling is about all I can't do while charging, but I can't jump cancel worth crap in the first place. And even if I could, it's kind of boring.
I really wish I could switch the dodge button on bayonetta with something that isn't a trigger. I hate triggers for dodges.
I don't have a problem with it being on a trigger, but I wouldn't mind the triggers being switched. When I played the demo, I noticed two things about myself. As someone who has played a shitload of Devil May Cry, I could not wrap my head around switching melee weapons with a shoulder button on the left, and as a person who has played a shitload of Ninja Gaiden, I couldn't wrap my head around dodging with a shoulder button on the right.
Surprisingly enough, when I picked up the full version last night, I had absolutely no problems adapting.

I was simply trying to atone for acting like a cockhead earlier in the thread - Given it's due, Bayonetta is quite an enjoyable game. Now I need to try the DMC series, seeing as Bayonetta seems to be cut from the same cloth.
Man, Am I missing something about the Durga claws or something? Just got them and they just seem kind of underwhelming compared to the katana.
I'm not a big fan of the fire claws because they are pretty slow and a lot of enemies in this game are extremely fast. I do enjoy the lighting claws though, they're pretty quick and the shock explosion that happens when you charge up an attack is pretty powerful.
Edit: And you can wield the Katana and equip the claws on your feet if you want to keep the katana while enjoying some flashy elemental attacks.

I like using lightning claws on the ground and fire in the air. Combo a dude in the air, then switch to fire and combo him mid-air. It works well.
Also, wearing the fire claws on your feets let's you run over burning ground without losing health.

That is good to know. The lava stage was fucking my rank over because I kept combo enemies into the flames.

Wait? You can pick which element you equip with the claws? Why am I just finding this out?
Also I love em. Used the claw on Y exclusively on the wind serpants and the boss on chapter 5 I think it was. Have no problem with em. I assume I'm using the fire claw currently. Now I got to figure out how to switch to the lightning claw
