From what I've seen of the streams earlier, the game is smooth on PC. The one guy streaming with it maxed out had a godly view distance.

I left my computer and Steam running when I left for work thismorning. I hope when I get home from work it will be mostly downloaded and installed. In a perfect world I would download itself by the time I get home, but in the real world I'll probably have to go home and start the download manually even though I already dragged it up to my favorites menu.

I've never really understood the need for the southpaw control scheme, waaay back when me and my friends used to get together and play system link halo I'd occasionally swap out with a guy who used southpaw and never bothered changing it, after 10 minutes or so to get used to it It was just as easy to use as the default control scheme.

GameFly has this on it's way to me. Maybe I can talk my brother into picking it up though.

Which reminds me. I need to send back Fracture, which had a playtime of about 10 minutes total.

    Anyway.

Early players bitched about how the game didn't have any recognizable terrain, all the dungeons were copy and paste jobs (bad, but it was okay in Mass Effect), and that in general, the game kinda was a let down.

    Thoughts?

    How Oblivion like is it?

    Can I be a thief?

See, I've been playing Fable 2 and Dead Space simultaneously and was hoping to leave Fallout 3 until after I'd beaten them. Then I went and read Eurogamer's 10/10 review today, and I couldn't want this game harder if I tried. It is absolutely the next thing I will be getting, hopefully still able to pick up one of the cool LE's.

Yeah, I am pretty sure this is the largest mistake of the RPG genre. We can't quite simulate everything in the world yet, and missing little messages like "To the west you see the light coming through the tunnel. You are looking at the sun for the very first time." and the aforementioned combat message hilarity just cannot be properly simulated with even the most badass graphics.

UPS tells me it was Out For Delivery as of 6:30am (now 10:30am). I really wish I could track down the UPS truck...

Given that the lowest review from any source is an 85% (or 8.5 or 'B') I'd say it's safe to say it's a winner.

The complaints have been mostly pertaining to dialogue, floaty character models, and not enough prostitution. I mean seriously, were the whores in the previous games that important? I've played the games many times over the years, and I enjoyed the experience greatly without once getting laid.

I just don't understand the fascination. Put down the controller, get some sunlight and get some real ass. I might need to post this in the Fable II thread as well. ;)

Maybe it's because I haven't played a western RPG in years, or I've never played a Bethesda game, but a lot of your comments strike me as "it isn't as good as I expected." All I can say is that so far, I'm having a blast, and that's all that matters in the end. It's a first person shooter/RPG that works really well.

... Man, I wish I didn't have school, so I could put some more substance behind this.

I really wish I had just bought from Bestbuy or Target or something. Gamestop.com kinda screwed me over -- the game was marked shipping, ready to go, available at local stores, etc, so I bought it online yesterday and paid $15 for overnight shipping, but after being in "Verify" status for a few hours they changed it to "Preorder, Ships 10/28".

Just a little tiny screw you for not doing the preorder in a B&M store, I guess.

Also, priming explosives in your pocket and having the kids pickpocket you then blow up was one of the best parts of the earlier games. what benefit was there in killing them? stopping them from picking your bloody pockets
