Okay, so I don't quite know what to make of these. I'm not used to drawing entirely out of my head...is the lighting even close? Do they look cool and different or deformed and awful? I could only fit about a third of each of the stylized ones in my scanner, so the composition might look kind of odd on some of 'em...

Only one of these is photo referenced. I'll let you guess which. ;)

Oh, and here's a few very fast (5 mins each?) hands and feet in *gasp* pencil!

yessss. finally. you should spend more time trying to develop the style youve got going on. its a lot more interesting than photorealism. the third one in particular strikes my fancy.

on the first one, the hair is pretty cool, but could use some simplification. try using little ribbons of hair instead of drawing each strand.

you should try exploring other mediums as well. with a little practice i think youll do better work without charcoal.

Very nice style! It has an interesting distortion to it. It's always good to experiment.

You also have mad charcoal skills. I could never do that. ~ <3

Cool. Yeah I like these as well, but I really like the one you used reference for.

The first 2 are a bit too distorted IMO, and look more like dolls than people. The third one though, strikes a happy medium between realism and surreal. Plus it has a really snazzy background that rounds out the whole thing.

Thanks, guys. :D Good to know I'm on the right track, then. It's taken me a long time to break out of the photo realism thing, mainly 'cause of a lack of confidence/ability in drawing out of my head...I only started drawing regularly about a year ago, so I was a bit timid to stray away from what I knew.

Any real crits for these, though? Is my (albeit stylized, but still) anatomy off in any ways that aren't just stylistic things? Is the lighting okay?

I'll work on the hair on the first one. Thanks again.

IS THE FIRST ONE THE PHOTO REF ONE?

seriously, I don't see a problem with your distorted style on them, I think it looks awesome. I can't really find any issues with your anatomy, I suppose someone better than me could find something.

    New stuff from today:

Heh, this is what happens when I only use my own face in a mirror to figure out lighting and stuff...an unintentional self portrait :P

Edit: gack, just realized the chin is...kinda big. Or weird...or something. Hmm.
