I bought one compilation of some MGS. Maybe 3? I think I got to a point where some bee master guy was attacking me and spouting the stupidest dialogue I've ever heard in my life. I turned it off and had/have absolutely no desire for MGS4.
I realize that the "over the topness" is part of it, but I don't think I have whatever fun gene that is that make people love this game.
I've never played a MGS game (lots of NES MG, if that counts), but I did see that video of Snake getting sidled in the women's bathroom - now I know I never have to play a MGS, ever.

was a stupid idea to keep this exclusive. this game cost konami way to much money to make.
No, it wasn't stupid at all, it was ingenius. Look at this thread FFS. MGS4's been out for 4 months and we're still getting 7-8 page threads about it. As for the cost, do you really think Konami haven't made a profit off this game? It's sold 4 million on the PS3, the vast majority of those sales would've been profitable.
Anyway, this thread is dumb. Do we need a new thread every single time there's a new 'MGS4 coming to 360' rumour? I mean really, it's not like they've turned out accurate so far, especially Kotaku. Why not just wait and see if there's official confirmation?
I bet Sony paid them under the table to keep silent about a 360 port because they knew MGS4 would be a game that would push a lot of console sales. DUN DUN DUNNNN
So I guess when they port it to the X360... are they going to take out all the things in the game where they make fun of the X360? Like when Octagon says something like "Ok go ahead and switch out the disc, oh way, never mind you're playing on the PS3 that’s using BR".... I mean there’s more than 1 reference during the game about it being played on the PS3... and I'm guessing when you control the MKIII. Old Snake will be holding an X360 controller instead of the SIXAXIS controller?

man dont even try Dirty, this isnt a thread for rational discussion. the 360 posse is in a lather, reality doesnt have anything to do with it at this point.
enjoy your theoretical great game, 360 owners. its worth picking up when/if it comes out.
Man, there are only like two guys here that are obviously baiting whoever gets internet mad easily.
No need to make it a "my club vs your club nggggeh" kind of thing.
my club is the club that enjoys games without getting their shit twisted about console flame wars and other assorted retarded crap that makes gamers in general look like a bunch of gibbering morons. its a pretty cool club, peggy brings nachos on wednesdays.

They could always change it to make fun of the load-times in the PS3 version.
"Hey Snake! Sit there for 8 minutes while we... oh wait! You're on the Xbox 360! You can just change to disc 2. That'll probably take less than 10 seconds."

I'm still catching up on the rest of the 'series'. Kinda playing them in reverse order... treating each one like a Prequel (oh so thats what happened kinda thing)

Well... doesn't installing a game on the hard drive make future load times less? So that means if you’re popping in another disc, through that Act, load times would probably be longer. Whose to say that each time you pop in a disc, it doesn’t install off that disc... so the time it takes to find the disc, swap it out, install, etc, could take just as long if not longer? I just was bringing up the point that there are multiple references during MGS4 about playing it on PS3... but I guess yea, they could either just port it and leave it in, X it, or come up with some X360 shit to make fun of the PS3 (but then I personally feel they would be a bunch of lame ass hypocrites)

As I understand it, Bluray discs are too big to read through easily to get necessary data, so it's either long load-times, ridiculously long installation (8 minutes on first play of MGS4, ~20 minutes for DMC4!?), or repeating data throughout the disc (which is what I hear Oblivion PS3 had). The same may not be true of individual DVDs; we won't know until the port happens.
And a little self-referential joke never hurt anyone. Hardly hypocritical. These technologies all have their advantages and disadvantages.
Well thank christ for that, since it affects any game coming to ps3 as well. No dev will ever put large amounts of exclusive content on the ps3 version for a non-exclusive release, and with the royalties ms has been putting on multi discs it means a lot of ps3 games are smaller than they should be.
So maybe you guys get a second disc and we get some space used up. Sounds win win to me.

Not fussed if it comes to 360 really, but it's all speculation and "what if" untill Kojima makes a declarative statement that says "It's coming to 360 soon".
I can see how it can be done now that there is installing on it's way to 360 - The game may have needed to be doubled up on data to reduce read times on the Blue Ray, so I'm wondering how much they can save on that. A little bit of data compresssion, technically the DVD will run faster and should be able to stream info off the disc. I'm thinking 3 discs minimum 4 discs max.
I bought a PS3 mainly for MGS4, but I don't mind if it goes to 360. There are a hand full of games like Killzone 2, Little Big Planet and GT5 I look forward to, its just a waiting game.
This would be good news for me. I almost bought a PS3 for this game, but couldn't quite stomach the cost when it came down to it. There are quite a few other PS3 games that I'd love t play, but this game is the main reason.

Audio is most definately the easiest thing to compress and not many people can tell the difference between uncompressed and compressed. If you have the speakers cranked extremely high there may be some fuzz, but generally no.
Textures can be streamed on the fly off the disc easily, the textures in MGS4 were not exactly high def and lacked effect layers, so this should be easy. The only thing I think the 360 may struggle with is the particle effects and graphic filters, unless they were optimised, but you can see how great a job Konami did on their MGS2 port with that.

o_O 2xBD is, on average, just as fast as a 8xDVD (which is the speed the 360 reads dual layer DVD's at). So how exactly will the 360 version reduce load times? Magic?
Morninglord: Except MGS4's audio isn't uncompressed at all, it's Dolby 5.1.

The pre-installs help, and the data is doubled to compensate on the Blue Ray Disc. The next Xbox Update features installs as well.
You know... you can always press 'start' and hit X when 'SKIP' is highlighted....
I really enjoyed MGS4... I enjoyed both the game and movie. Sometimes it’s nice to set the controller down (if you’re not worried about hitting all the buttons for flashbacks) and just watch... because not every game comes with a movie.

If it happens, great. More people play the game. If it doesn't, great, Sony has a good exclusive on its hands, in addition to other great exclusives.

So compress that for a start.
If people could fit RE2 on a single N64 cart then humanity could fit MGS4 on a single dvd.

And here I was wondering if this news would herald the end of all the "IT'S A MOVIE LOL!" cracks going around. Stupid me.
You have experienced the metal gear solid series, have you not?
Well come on now there are places where the cutscene to gameplay ratio is downright absurd.
Acts 3 and 5 jump to mind especially.

I agree that the cut scenes are long and frequent but most hyperbole comments I've seen just seem to me like a case of sour grapes.
