Im trying to patch to 1.0.4 on vista 64 (Home Premium).
Im running the patcher as admin, and tried compatability for win xp.
It gets to art.myp and gets stuck. Doesnt move.
I even tried taking down the firewall.
GAH
i don't have Vista, so this might not mean anything, but i had some patch issues yesterday and fixed it after a few minutes of looking around and then looking at my running processes.
check to see if when you have an instance of war.exe already running before you try to patch. for whatever reason, in XP, i had a "ghosted" version of the exe running that i had to kill from the processes tab in Task Manager. it was locking all my WAR files from getting patched.
Anyone know were I can get a trial for this? I am tired of playing Eve and haven't played CoH/V in awhile either. Reading up on the classes and gameplay has me excited to play WAR but for some reason WoW wouldn't run on my system AFTER I bought the fucking battlechest or whatever it's called. If WAR runs on my system I will most likely purchase the game immediately and start playin I just need to make sure I don't go an waste another $50.

Well what are your specs.
I'm thinking that if WoW won't run, then WAR won't either.
It wasn't that my system is underpowered, just that it would bluescreen about 3 minutes into playing it. Played around with all sorts of drivers and different (within spec) hardware with no luck. I can run every other game that I have tried on it. Just WoW had an issue and Eve will sometimes crash. I just don't want to fork out $50 to have it not work so I'd like to try before I buy.

Any one nerdraged over the whole "steam tank" factory thing yet?
My instant rationalization; unique to the Age of Reckoning, Karl-Franz is attempting to build more based on long-protected original blueprints and a desparate need for an edge against Tchar'zanek.

Since when had logic ever stopped a good raging?
But really ive had an odd experiance when it comes to people knowing WAR lore. All the tabletop gamers I know just plain up don't care about WAR and all the players I've come across know jack shit about the setting ( or only know 40k). Is this just me?
I think I may have figured out how the Blackguard is an Ironbreaker mirror. Maybe they use "Oath Friend" on an enemy? Whenever that enemy is struck, bonus Hatred. Their abilities debuff the Hated Foe and buff themselves.
Man, I win.
Oh I seriously hope so. That would mean that they can probably effectively CC a class by themselves, while doing loltank damage to them. I love my IB because I can CC your whole team, and buff the hell out of my WH/WL friend while he melts your healers/sorc. I hope the BG doesn't completely suck, but if its better than the IB at CC (a tanks real role. want damage? play MDPS) then I would be very discouraged.

Most tabletop gamers one would encounter in stores or tournaments could care less about the setting. They're 100% in it for the game. These people also generally hate MMOs for various reasons.
Conversely, the only good way to learn about the lore is to buy books, so people who don't play the tabletop (at least casually) don't know a thing about it.
Also, most people who are vocal online about WAR lore don't know what the fuck they're talking about. They don't seem to realize GW is more fluid about changing things than Mythic has been, and it's been this way as long as the game has existed.
40k is a lot flashier and OMG EPIC HEUG so it gets a wider base; the scope prevents a lot of the depth one finds in Warhammer, though, which has remained much more consistent over the years, and been fleshed out quite a bit more. 40k knowledge is generally much easier to come by, as it isn't locked away in mouldering out of print books.

I'll be honest, I don't know shit about the back story.. Is it worth Reading then?
One guy (Leonardo da Miragliano, hah!) built them, he's dead, didn't leave plans, and Imperial engineers can't seem to repeat it, other than repair them. There's eight left of his original twelve.

If the concept of 15th century Holy Roman Empire Landsknechts fighting 1st century Goths who happen to be mutants that worship Elder Gods doesn't get your juices flowing, probably not worth reading.
If it does, absolutely. Especially if you see the humor inherent in a guy name Luther causing trouble in the church of said country because they're not focused enough on killing minions of said Elder Gods. Or if you dig Moorcock (:winky:), Leiber, Howard, or Lovecraft.
So, guys. What is your opinion on the travel system?
It seems to me there should be more flightmasters than just at warcamps. More often than not I choose to just NPC greens and I usually will give a blue away to whatever class it belongs to. This is because if I am a camp or two away from the warcamp, I usually am not going to hoof it all the way back to unload 6 greens and maybe one blue at the AH.
Am I just being a blubbering bitch or do other people NPCtrash stuff? Do you guys go to capital cities way more than I do?(First time I went was level 20, because there was no real reason before then. Aside from maybe one quest I got, but I ditched it because it was a group quest.)

Where there is a flightmaster. Combined with binding in whatever PvE area you're questing in, you can get pretty much anywhere, whenever, very easily.
And there are renown vendors for each tier there as well. Don't own a keep, but want to shop for renown gear? No problem, the guild tavern has you covered.
I went to Altdorf once, but the lag there made me wanna kill myself.
God I need a better connection.
The guild taverns are instanced off of the main city, so you shouldn't have to worry about lag when porting there.
Does anyone else feel that they should lower the guild rank requirement for those scrolls? For new guilds, guild rank 17 seems like a long time to wait for something that makes such a huge improvement to the travel experience.
My guess is that they'll significantly lower the guild level requirements for certain things at a later date, but to do so right now would 'cheapen' the rewards.

I think its more that any tabletop players who have either been around a while or made an effort to read up would know that Warhammer lore is supposed to be an incoherent collection anecdotes written at 2 AM by drunk-ass brits.

Oh hell yes. I've got it. It came out just in time for me to travel to England where they have much nicer hardcover collections but can't justify buying any and bringing them back.
And that's drunk-ass history nerd Brits.

I just played that t2 map where you gotta grab the thing and hold onto it and it's a nonstop skirmish of awesome.
It is neat.
I can't really work out how to slip in and out of combat yet though, there's pretty much zero reason for me to do anything but stay near the squishies, heal tanks, and smash melee dps who try to get to my little ducklings into rather pathetic little puddles of splutch.
Every now and again I zip in and rend soul someone next to the tank but for the most part in a big ol clusterfuck I do a lot of utility stuff like rezzing, hoting everybody who even looks like they stubbed their toe and occasionally running up next to someone in trouble, rending the guy on them and healing them back up to full and getting out.
Even when I charge just behind everyone else on the front lines I get instantly targetted and pretty much can only put some dots on, maybe slow a guy, rend for the tank then I gotta get the hell out of there cos the BW have found me.
Course this is just my experience in giant cluster fuck free for alls, I'm sure with a coordinated couple of melee dpsers with me I could run around the back and cause havok but pugs don't follow me and I don't have a guild yet.
I also find capture the flag more fun because I can chase the flag carriers and back up small packs off doing things with no healer, I only feel a bit lost in the chokepoint map.
Should be fun when I get higher into torture though, I'm looking forward to being a cokdok. What's that mr wp you want to heal oh no I don't think so squishhhhhhhhh.
Not sure if I'm going to just get sanguinity for now and spec into sacrifice for the consume essence improvement. I find this skill really helpful in big cluster fucks because if I stand still I get clicked on by those DAMN BW their mouse cursor is out there, hovering invisibly, waiting for me....
Choices choices.
God damn though actually actually getting to catch a BW who got cocky is just so delicious no amount of healing can save them.

(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.
The problem with your weaving isn't so much the strategy but the map. Mourkain's Temple is a gigantic clusterfuck of targets in the central area, where you can easily have 5 players within 1 meter of each other. Actually targeting what you WANT in that situation gets hairy when you want to do your job quickly.
