Wait, fuck, the 20th is Monday?

    ...dammit.

Edit: At this rate I'm gonna have to sell my 360 because of all the fucking awesome Wii games coming out.

All the fucking awesome Wii games...like Wii Music? o_O

Yeah. Plus I need to pick up Animal Crossing, Samba de Amigo, Sonic Unleashed, Sam & Max Season 1, Tetris Party, Stong Bad Episodes 2 & 3, Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars, Call of Duty: World at War, Tales of Syphonia, Raving Rabbids TV Party, and depending on reviews, Rygar.

    You forgot Deadly Creatures!

tl;dr: Wow this game looks meh. But click on the video; it's the entire reason I made this thread.

Oh my god, this is the best video ever.

Long answer: Maybe you could somehow hack it and import one? I have no idea.

My biggest problem with this is the music selection. So many of these are awful public domain songs, like "Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star."

Damn. I was hoping that maybe it could be a layman's midi music composer or something for making tunes using simple controls. Other games in the past have been able to pull this off. But if this is limited strictly to the included tunes in the game, then that pretty much kills the only remote chance of my caring about this game. Not that I had much care for this game at all in the first place...

    Is that list confirmed?

    If it is... Hah!

I like how "Wii Sports Theme" is one of them. You know, Wii Sports has good music, but it's more of that nice subtle background music. As opposed to music you'd want to "play."

Yeah, this is a pretty hilarious track list, and while I didn't expect something on the order of a Rock Band track list, I might have expected more fun or more varied stuff. Oh well. I think the track list is hilarious in its cheap public domain crap. I honestly would have been more pleased with a greater volume of classic Nintendo tunes like the Metroid theme or Kid Icarus theme or more tracks from the Mario series or Tetris theme or what the fuck ever.

As far as music creation, it doesn't even have to be something complex. It could work. Especially if you could record and share your stuff. But noooo.

I know GHWT has an advanced music creator. I think it also has a more user-friendly simplified one in the Wii version, featuring Miis. So basically it's like what Wii Music would be if Wii Music were good.

I'll probably get GHWT if I'm not too busy with real-life stuff.

I think that's what confuses me most. Nintendo could have easily mined much more of their own music/classical for a far more convincing, and in all probability, cheaper soundtrack.

This is pathetic. You know, a lot of people defend Wii Music by saying "What do you care? You don't have to play Wii Music!" I care because this is the new passion of Miyamoto, a man whose work I normally adore. After Pikmin, Shiggy's pet projects have been increasingly gravitating towards things I have no interest in. Miyamoto is getting further and further out of touch with what made him so beloved. It's really sad, kind of like seeing a grandparent deteriorate. Brilliant games like Super Mario Galaxy are probably more the result of the talent he's been grooming as opposed to his own creative genius.

If this game had nothing but all of the best tracks from all of Nintendo's major franchises and games, all of them, then I would probably be a lot more interested in it , if nothing more than to be able to go through the generations of Nintendo's games and replaying their classic tunes in pseudo-game form. There are so many great franchises with fantastic music just within Nintendo's stable of games from over the years... Heck some franchises like Metroid or Zelda or the Marios for example have tons of classic tunes amidst their many iterations. Koji Kondo alone provides an incredible deal of fantastic music, much of which would have been perfect for a pseudo music game like this.

But no, what we have here is a few Nintendo songs and a bunch of crap like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, the Birthday Song, Yankee Doodle, Wii Sports Theme, Do Re Mi, Jingle Bell Rock, ugh.. C'mon.

Animal Crossing? Another Animal Crossing? Mute City? Wii Sports theme? Wii Music theme? ... and Super Mario bros and Zelda themes. Yeah. You've got this veritable ocean of classic Nintendo tunes... and besides Mario and Zelda themes, you pick.... two animal crossing songs, one Fzero song, and Wii Sports and Music. I have no problem with Fzero's Mute City, I like the song, but there is just so much else out there it just begs the question - why stop there?

the idea behind wii music is fine, but it, much like wii sports, simply screams 'tech demo.' From its really rather shallow and simple mechanics, to the castrated song list. I don't want to say it's an unfinished product, there just seems to be an utter lack of content for a fifty dollar purchase.

Really I'm just thrown for a loop with what Nintendo is actually trying to do with the Wii. We see all these fun uses for the remote but they're all in little half games like Wii Sports, Fit, and now Music. It's been almost two years and we've yet to see a sports game that even approaches what Wii Sports can do. I know Wii Music just came about and Wii Sports 2 and everything but Wii Sports 2 just seems to be the same tech demo thing as the first one, just demoing that little addon instead of the remote itself. Hey, awesome, I come pretty close to real time boxing, or baseball. So how about you let me do it in something that isn't devoid of everything else a game should have other than the one mechanic you're trying to show off?
