A second phase of my great gaming lifestyle has come to a close and unlike the first I'm having a lot harder time closing this door. I've gone to the great lengths of even extending that life by buying my family members time with an oXbox and Live Membership. It's now getting really pathetic and I will be the first to admit it.
What I'm really referring to is online play on the oXbox. I'm especially talking about the lose of these online communities that have been around for years. IE Crimson Skies, Rainbow Six 3 and Black Arrow, and Ghost Recon. Even when the 360 first came out you could always go back and find a community. And I was hoping even with the rerelease of Original Xbox games there would be a revival of these old online communities but it seems it was not to be.
Of course there are the few exceptions like Halo 2 and on Thursdays and sometimes Sundays for Steel Battalion (those people are dedicated. God Bless Them!). And I know this is just the "gaming evolution" and I should just evolve or fall behind but it seems the new games just don't have the communities of old.
Do you remember clans? When you would set up clan matches? You could even do it online. You could even start up your own room and invite the people you want and kick the people you don't. It seemed like everybody kind of new everybody and if you were a d*ck people knew about it. I really think when Halo 2 came out things went down hill from there. You could play the game you wanted. Now people can say, do, and glitch and all you can do is report it.
Sorry about my banter but am I only in my thinking?
