So, I'm trying to set-up network printing in our dorm room without buying stuff (I did plenty of that to set-up TV, video-games, dual display, and get my laptop) so I'm trying to do this without breaking my newegg sobriety.
What we've got our hands on here is a HP (doom + 1) 1012 Deskjet and an HP (doom + 1, and + 1 for double HP-doom) Jetdirect 175x USB print server thingy...
I also have a kickazz linksys router, which was also a recent newegg purchase:x
What we do not have is the relevant install disk for the server, and setting it up without the disk has pushed us to the limits of our physcial existence. So, is there away to get the disk, to get the disk image for burning, to hammer through this sans disk, or a cheap way to do this otherwise.
*note that i am aware you can share a printer through a pc, but then the pc has to be there and turned on. Im the only non-laptop in the room, and printer's usb cord wont reach my comp. :x
thx

Beated :P
As I recall from using Jetdirects in the past, you should plug it into your network via ethernet, find outs its IP (either from the router or a scan, I believe HP provide a scanning tool or you could just use something like Angry IP scanner), enter the IP into the web browser of a computer also on the network and you will be taken to an embeded webpage on the Jetdirect that will allow you to scan for printers, change settings etc.
Then once all that is sorted to your liking, you go to each machine and add a network printer, using the previous IP for its location, install the driver when asked and bobs your uncle.
