Sooo there's a new trailer out for the upcoming Edgeworth game. Warning: Contains a crazy foreign language of some sort.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/41706.html

Now, I know there are some fans of the PW series in this here forum, so let's talk about it.

I'm pretty stoked, though I'm kinda disappointed that it looks like we won't be seeing any courtroom action whatsoever this time around. And the... rival, I guess?... guy looks even less heterosexual than Edgeworth, somehow.

Mainly, though, I'm just glad we're gonna get more Gumshoe.

What do you all think?

Feelings on the new game? Favorite moments from previous ones?

Terror at the impending return of Wendy Oldbag?

Try to be smart with spoiler tags when talking about other games in the series, folks.

I'm still kind of pissed with what they did in Phoenix in the new Ace Attorney games.

    Apollo really doesn't stack up.

    I don't hate Apollo.

And I like Phoenix as this mysterious dick know it all.

    Yeah, pretty much.

Congratulations! The character you've spent the last three games growing to admire is now an unemployed, functioning alcoholic!

I guess I just don't like 'why' he isn't doing his thing anymore.

it seems so out of character, especially considering Trials and Tribulations.

I'm still holding out that he didn't actually do anything wrong and just went along with it for some altruistic reason

well this game seems to play a bit different, but point and click adventure is probably the best label for it

courtroom gameplay is basically like in those old lucasarts games where you have like a dozen different items but only one of them works for each situation

except you get limited tries in Phoenix Wright

part of the game is running around talking to people and looking for clues

    then

in the courtroom you flip back and forth through witness testimony and press them on inconsistencies and/or present evidence that contradicts it

if you give the wrong evidence, you get a "penalty" which is basically losing health until the judge gets sick of you and chooses a guilty verdict

this new edgeworth game appears to be a lot different than the ace attorney series

I hope there are courtroom sections, it would be disappointing not to get the opportunity to play Edgeworth in court as a prosecutor.

probably not going to be any courtroom shenanigans

for one thing, none is shown in the trailer

for another, there's be little point in it

under japan's legal system, everything in the courtroom is to the prosecution's advantage

hell, that's what made Pheonix a hero in the first place... he winning against steep odds.

Isn't it more convincing the judge to go to trial?

Also, what you talking about? Edgeworth is a straight looking dude. Looks like he's got 3 fine ladies in his bed every night.

    This game is so bought.
Also, the concept behind Edgeworth being gay is a combination of his handsomeness and the pages and pages of Phoenix/Edgeworth fan fiction that has been written.

Yeah, he had some of his own motivation there, and it seems fairly obvious why he did what he did once you finish the final case.
