So yeah today's Initiative issue was pretty good. Finally brought to light the skrulls other plans besides using Janet as a bomb.
    Apparently
All the negative zone portals the Initiative were using to transport across the country was being used by the skrulls as a last resort to basically suck a good chunk of the planet in the negative zone just in case there plan went to shit. The whole skrull kill krew basically split up to take out the remaining skrulls in the states and also blow up all the negative zone portals.
    And Thor Girl is skrull

It's a way cooler plan than just blowing up Janet Van Dyne.
Thor Girl was one of the minor characters I would have liked to have seen more of, though, so this particular revelation was something of a disappointment.

Also, I hope Crusader survives the big fight. Reed's got his Skrull revealy device, but the ring out to trump that.

But that doesn't make a lick of sense. The prophecy foretold that Earth of be theirs. The whole point of the invasion was to make that come true take Earth for themselves, which is important because they don't have a home planet anymore.

Why would they want to destroy it?

But they can try again! There's no expiration date to religious crusades. The prophecy doesn't have a deadline!

I don't think they'll be able to regroup if this invasion fails. I mean, isnt this pretty much the entirety of the Skrull army? Most of them got wiped out, after all.

If you were paying attention, this was foreshadowed in a not very subtle way.
Also, yeah, this is the majority (if not entirety) of the fanatic faction

Yes, but the whole religion angle doesn't really allow for the possibility of failure. Why have a contingent for a plan that God himself told you would work? It shows weakness - or worse, doubt.

And the Jarvis skrull in the latest Secret Invasion basically implied that
victory wasn't essential, that they just needed to spread the word to win.
What good would that do if there's no planet anymore? I think Dan Slott is still thinking of this as a normal invasion.

I'm interested to see if this plot point from the Initiative will turn up, or at least referenced, in SI #8.

Probably not. I'd assume it's in the same vein that I doubt we'll see Hercules and his plot point mentioned. If they tried to mention all the different SI-Tie in stuff, considering how many there were, it'd just be like "Can you believe the skrulls attacked ___ and did ___?" "No, but what about when they ___ and ____!"

Well not all of the Skrulls are 100% sold on the religious angle of the invasion. I wouldn't put it behind a few cynical military commanders to make a back-up plan.

So yeah after reading the final Thor Secret Invasion tie-in issue, i'm wondering if Beta Ray Bill will have any interaction with any cosmic heroes. They left it wide open with him flying out to space, then again i'm just thrilled he's finally back in form now since he isn't in limbo anymore.

I like that Carol's on the cover. Though as I recall the solicit for MA #20 is post-SI.

I think each one has potential if they kill the other, spit on their corpse, and bury them so far away that they never come back again.

Preferably Hank. Jan's the better of the two.

I think they're salvageable, but only if Marvel is willing to jettison the baggage of that slapping thing and just let the two be a mismatched pair of adventurers.

Wasn't that the direction they were kind of heading towards post-disassembled, then suddenly hated each other again? Or was that explained by Hank being replaced?

No, I first started appreciating the character during the Young Avengers / Runaways Civil War issues. She just seems to have a better presence than most other characters do. A lot more than Hank, anyway. Plus her costume is a lot better than his.

Oh shit I just realized something...
while looking through the January Marvel previews I noticed that the Uncanny X-men annual relates to Dark Reign somehow due to the lack of solicitation info. However, the cover art is still there, and it's Emma Frost(I think?) holding an apple. Could this indicate that Marvel is turning Emma evil again, or is it Mady Pryor who will be a dark avenger? And if Marvel does turn Emma evil again, what possible motivation could she have?
