So I will probably import it from the US (who the hell can wait until June), but is it worthwhile to start Ruby again before that ? I left it somewhere near the 3rd gym or so during my last play through, and I guess transferring some Pokes would be nice... What exactly are the bonuses for having one of the GBA games ?

I have FireRed and Emerald AND the Gamecube Gale of Darkness. I've only gotten through 1/2 of FireRed...
Well, I think it's meant to be a play on "head honcho". I guess. I don't really like the name, though. Would've much preferred "Donkrow"...in fact, I may nickname my own that. Mismagius, though. Awesome.
I also think it's funny that "bee" went to Beedrill, which is a wasp, while a word that is related to wasps goes to the queen bee ["Vespiquen"].
I know what it means, but good Lord, that is an awful name.
Well, to get in the spirit of DS Pokemon-ing, I brought my DS and Emerald to work with me this morning. From 6:30 am to just a few minutes ago, I started a new game, went throughout the day playing every chance I got, and beat the Elite 4.
I didn't expect to blow through the game so quick.
I'm lukewarm on the series itself, but I did enjoy most of the movies; #3 is by far my fave.
They're also some of the few movies I enjoy watching dubbed more than original; Team Rocket just isn't the same without horrible, horrible puns (granted, it could just be poor subbing. Translating puns tends to be impossible).
"You two don't need the opposite sex, cuz ya got each uddah!"
Oh man, Meowth.
That was the dirtiest thing you have ever said.

Is it April 22nd yet?
Wow that is fast.... even if you barely did any work. :P I wonder what the best speed run is for the game (I am pretty sure there are people crazy enough to do that..)
Well, I'm once again hooked on Pokemon. I'm getting the fever all over again, and while it's reminding me of 7th grade, it's a happy time.
And in getting back into the series, I've read a bit, and I believe I'm going to buy a GBA gameshark in order to get a ticket to Faraway Island in Pokemon Emerald, in order to capture Mew.
If I successfully capture Mew, and trade it to my copy of FireRed, will I successfully be able to import Mew into Diamond, once I pick that up? I'd love to have a legit Mew (even though I'd have to hack in order to get the ticket for the island).

thats kind of what I would like to know. how well does the games, pearl and such, know that you have sharked? if you just get the eon ticker and the faraway one will it know and yell at you. I don't want to cheat, I just want to get the tickets and be able to use the pokemon that come with that in pearl.

I seem to remember a problem with hacked tickets not actually working and people would end up just hacking to the island itself. I can't remember. It should work though for D/P transfer since the Mew itself will be legit, just not the way you got to it. You should do the same for Deoxys as well since I'm pretty sure nintendo will never give us another event for him.
So apparently Serebii has released a whole comprehensive list of every new Pokemon's English name. The reason? Somebody else went and leaked all of them first. Oh well, it means less suspense I guess.

Serebii's reputation kind of fits along with pettiness, doesn't it? Not to judge him or anything [I don't know him, after all], but he does have a pretty widely-known reputation. One that is less-than-stellar, as well.
Working on runthroughs of the games again, to get stuff prepped for transfer to D/P when they come out.
My FireRed playthrough is just past the 7th Gym. went ahead to the islands (never played FR/LG just R/B/Y, so this stuff is new to me).
Currently running
-Blastoise
-Charizard (did a quick trade off at the game start to get all 3 starters from the beginning).
-Venusaur
-Lapras
-Kadabra
- -HM'er for Fly-
I really need a good 6th choice for this point in the game to replace my HMer, but I never can pick another good one.
Any recommendations?
Once i finish the Elite 4 and get the National Dex unlocked, Im moving on to Emerald.
Ive also got copies of Sapphire, Colliseum, and XD that i picked up dirt cheap recently used. and I even found a copy of the Colliseum bonus disc for a Jirachi :D

You mean the fact he steals his info, tricked contributors into "binding" threats(I.e "Now that you work for me, don't go anywhere else or I'll make sure no one accepts you), lying about April Fools Pokemon(insisting they are real because he believes it, then claiming it's false despite thinking they were real all along), or the fact that he has his entire forum and mod staff practically trained to attack, insult, and ban anyone who brings up his stealing info? :P
So I was at Fry's tonight and they have the styli right there. If I hadn't already preordered at Gamestop, I'd have picked it up there. And in the interest of boredom I took horribly fuzzy pictures with my phone and I'm posting them here :P
Seriously, I think that might be the fastest graphical leap over first generation games that I've seen in a console, Super Mario Galaxy included.
I think the graphics quality is really uneven, especially when it comes to the actual creature models. Some of them look stunning, but others don't look much better than they did in Pokemon Stadium 1 for the N64 way back when. Go look at Farfetch'd for an example.
plus they tout it as being some sort of spectacular real-time battle system, but it's the same old shit
fucking yawn
Well aside from that, I think you'll be amazed how different this gen is actually gonna play from the previous one because of the completely overhauled physical/special system. I'd say it's the biggest change gameplay-wise since the series first started, and turns the game completely upside down. Pokemon that played like shit before are actually viable now, and vice versa. It's a whole new ballgame.
Man, what would be the best is if the STARTING pokemon were different for the different versions of the game. Boo to it not being that way IMO.
Rly tho, I think I'm going Pearl because it is the color of babymakingfluids, and diamonds are overrated coal IMO.
(Plus, just because.)
Can I just pick a few pokeymans and expect to do good, or should I *really* plan out my guys, hand them all different items, breed them from lvl 1, and generally be meticulous? I mean, to win.
You can be a little more competitive then by catching a lot of them/picking them up over and over/breeding and checking out their IV's, and then EV training them.
Also, making sure they have a nature that's beneficial to what you want to do with the pokemon.
It seems as though with the changes made in D/P pretty much every pokemon is viable.

Oh, well...maybe I haven't heard as much as I thought I had.

Clefable probably got the biggest upgrade though. It went from underused and kinda meh (compared to Blissey and such) to a serious force to be reckoned with because of its new ability.

Oh, man, I have tried SO HARD to get a Mew. I have a hack that does it in Ruby/Sapphire but you can't trade him to Emerald or later. I have hacks that get him in ForeRed/LeafGreen but he'll never listen to you. The ticket hacks don't work either because you need some event to happen before they'll work. The ONLY thing that may work is the teleport trick; you can zip to any area and then you can catch him and Deoxys; I've teleported to the islands but my pokeymans aren't strong enough to catch him yet. But I'm willing to bet that neither will listen to you unless you use the tickets to get there.
So, I haven't been following this game at all. Can somebody update me on how the online functionality works?
I haven't bought a DS game in some time so I'll probably get back into it with this. I've gotta go with Diamond, since it's most similar to Blue and Silver before it.

What should my fourth move be on my Exeggutor? I've got Sunny Day, Solarbeam, and Psychic; just need something to round out the set.
I think it gets Synthesis, not bad. Sleep Powder is great after the speed boost from sunny day. Maybe Explosion.
Smogon would just tell you to use Hidden Power Fire, probably. Maybe even tell you to get rid of Psychic for it.

I will find a way around this. Delibird is magical. I believe there is nothing he can't overcome.
I have FireRed and Emerald AND the Gamecube Gale of Darkness. I've only gotten through 1/2 of FireRed...
I liked Vespiquen. A lot.
So near yet so far.
I went and preordered Pearl and Diamond today. I loves me some Pokemans games.

That's fucking petty.
He's supposed to be the mafia Godfather Pokemon. Head Honcho + Krow = Honchkrow

Again.
This time with Squirtle.
I just really like trying out new teams.

I went Diamond because the Dialga on the cover looks like a mean mother fucker. Doesn't matter if he is... it's how he looks
that actually looks like a good sized stylus.
of course it will still be hard to beat the Castlevania extendable stylus from PoR.
Dodrio is a pretty awesome flyer who is fairly common. Drill Peck and Tri Attack away!
Aerodactyl, maybe Zapdos.
I'm getting Pearl 'cause Palkia looks like the Dragonzord. Rar!
