But pearl is pink. And diamond is blue.

    Red+white=pink

But silver is grey. And what about Fire Red and Leaf Green?

    PHAIL <3
Green is half blue, and Silver is a natural complement to blue.

Green is also half yellow, which is the redder color and actually gold is the complement to blue as it's closer to orange.

No way man, everybody knows gold goes better with red.

Also, Yellow is a significantly less reddish color than Red.

It seems like when they release two new Pokemon games, they try to theme them slightly (in terms of exclusive pokemon, exclusive items, legendaries, and even minor story elements) so they don't feel like exact copies with a slightly different monster set. One version tends to feel flashier, while the other is more subdued and quirky. I haven't seen a list of differences between the two yet, but it seems like Diamond very much fits into the "flashy, more brute force and raw power" camp (along with Fire, Gold, and Red), while Pearl seems like it would work better in the "subdued, quirky, and subtle" camp (along with Leaf, Silver, and Blue.)

Speaking of which... I spent a few minutes over at the hated GameFAQs trying to find a Diamond/Pearl exclusive pokemon list, but couldn't turn up anything. Have they released one yet?

I'm getting Diamond because of Scyther.

But Pearl has Houndoom which is a good selling point.

The versions I bought were Blue, Silver, Ruby, FR and now Diamond. So I don't really follow the trend. Just whichever one has Scyther. Except Blue, cause I didn't like Scyther much till Scizor came about.

Meh doesn't matter to me which version I get. Any exclusives I'd be worried about I already get via Colosseum and XD. I'll probably go with Pearl to go against the fold.

One thing I'm glad about the new versions is that there won't be plot differences. I know I'm in a very small minority but I want to experience all the stories no matter how similar they are. I'm finding it difficult to not get both Ruby and Sapphire despite the fact that I already got Emerald.

Since I know someone getting Pearl, there wasn't much of a decision for me. I can get any pokemon I can't get Diamond off her, or other people online. All I really want from the Pearl exclusive list is Pinsir anyway.

They should still be able to breed. I think if he says "they prefer to play with other pokemon" that's when they'll never get their groove on.

I'm 90% sure that you can't get Espeon and Umbreon in FireRed/LeafGreen because there is no way to tell if it's day or night. I remember trading Eevees back down to Ruby to evolve them. So you may need to wait until D/P to get those two.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I would assume that FR/LG use the same system that R/S used, between 12pm (afternoon) and 12 am you get Umbreon and 12am and 12 pm (morning) you get Espeon.

edit: Checked Serebii. It does not work.

    That's kinda weird.

edit2: Well I guess so you can't have Espeon or Umbreon before you get the National Dex.

Well, except that FR/LG can't do that because neither FR nor LG actually has an internal clock. So they can't tell time at all. I mean, I've never tried Happy-ifying an Eevee in FR/LG, but I've always heard that you can't get Umbr/Espeon thanks to the lack of the internal clock.

It's really easy to miss that FR/LG lack the clock. Thanks to the extremely understated clock in RSE [and the lack of day and night], I forget that they even have a clock. It's not like the thing's used much at all except for Espeon and Umbreon, only you need to trade with FR/LG to even get an Eevee.

I think they took the internal clock out of FR/LG because of worry the batteries would die or something, and the clock in D/P uses the DS's clock.
