From what I understood, before she showed up he and everyone else seemed to think he was the only one left of his race (wow. Claremont really stretched that Superman analogy, didn't he?).
You know that's what I thought too, but the more I read about it I'm not sure if that's accurate. They are either kind of slipping that in right now or the internet sources I was looking at aren't entirely accurate, could go either way.
Thanks. I couldn't sleep, so I can't take full credit for them since without a lack of sleep I wouldn't have had the time to make them.
Just a reminder, too, the pics in the spoiler are all thumbnails (don't ask me why this makes the avatars bigger), so you have to download them from imagehaven and then reupload to PA.
Back on the Gladiator topic, I read on either Newsarama or CBR that there will be a story during or shortly after WoK that will give his full backstory, including the reason why he fanatically serves the Shi'ar. I wanna say its by C.B. Celebuski, but I'm not sure
So, I'm trying to jump in on War of Kings, because everyone says the recent cosmic stuff is awesome.
Is Kingbreaker any good? I was reading summaries, and it sounded completely arbitrary. Have there been/will there be any real big developments in that book?
It's not really necessary, except as a bridge between Emperor Vulcan and War of Kings. Essentially, it's there to show why the Shi'ar ships were chasing after the Starjammers and crashed into the Kree shield, and how Vulcan uses that as provocation to kickstart the war.

I'm pretty sure Black bolt blowing three of his ships to hell contributed.
King Breaker also introduces Vulcan's... um... Imperial Guard 2: Guard Harder. Pretty much Gladiators cousin, a symbiote, some kind of pyro star, and the rest...
Gladiators cousin seems to hate his guts, a feeling I share, so for some reason I find myself rooting for her. Also, Kingbreaker has Havok being a badass, which I can never get enough of.

I'm loving seeing Marvel and DC finally throw some weight behind the cosmic universe now, after years and years of keeping everything on earth. My favorite DC title right now is Green lantern corps, and I'm absolutely loving everythin Marvel is doing in space right now.
Sadly, as much as I love GLC, I have to admti that Marvel seems to have the better cosmic universe, with more characters, and more fleshed out stories. (Not that Dc doesn't have anything over Marvel, as they have a much better magic universe).
The cosmic universes for both companies seem to be on a roll right now, with the next major event for both of them (War of kings, Blackest night) being set there or coming from there. I'm pretty sure it all began with Annihilation, or was there something before that?
I got Annihilation vol. 3 awhile ago, and I absolutely love it! I have a HC of vol. 1 as well, now I just have to get 2. I have also ordered vol 1 of both Nova and Guardians of the galaxy, and hope to get them soon.
Eh, I dunno about Marvel being superior. They're about on par I'd say. DC's got a lot of cosmic shit going on, and their cosmic toys inevitably become involved in whatever big event is going on each year.
DC Cosmic stuff < Marvel Cosmic stuff < Green Lantern cosmic stuff
general non-green lantern cosmic stuff could be good if they had someone other than Starlin writing all of it. He may have been good during the Infinity Gauntlet era, but his writing is so much bullshit now.

Im pretty sure Vulcan attacking a Kree ally planet and wiping out their envoy / the galactic council prior to any of that was a much better impetus for war.
Has the worldmind gone bad, and all? Cause I would hate to see it leave the series. (It's one of my favorite characters) I keep hearing conflicting reports, and, sadly, I don't have a real comic shop close by.
Worldmind had begun mass recruiting of people from earth (and god know's where else) in order to reform the Nova corps, and at the same time using subliminal messaging to make them more docile and obediant.
The only real problem I can forsee with this course of action, is that the worldmind may be picking up people who simply aren't ready for the trials that they will face and many people will die as a result.

Read the previews for the upcoming Nova's that tie in with War of Kings.

Nova Corps gon' get raped without rich.
Think we're going to end up with a situation in which Robbie gets fragged in the line of duty, if Richard ends up with the Worldmind back in his head after that it'd be interesting.

Early on, you may have heard the Worldmind warn Richard that any one being who holds the full Nova Force for too long eventually goes kinda crazy-flakes.
Well, ever since Richard got the full Nova Force, Worldmind has been constantly keeping it in check, regulating and controlling it's use.
Which essentially means that Worldmind has been the one holding the full Nova Force all this time.
See first sentence, re.: going crazy-flakes.

They'll flip it so that Worldmind is actually being corrupted by Ego the living planet, and that he wasn't really subdued, just playing possum.

I was kinda wondering if Ego was going to show up in any real role in this whole cosmic renaissance, hima ctually controlling the Worldmind in order to get control of the Nova force (which he could possibly control, I mean, he is a planet), could be a nice way out.

Worldmind actually generates the Nova Force for people to use in the first place. He doesnt have to hold it in check and is a living computer made up of the minds of dead Xandarians to preserve their culture and civilizations achievements as well as provide political and spiritual guidance to them. Richard nearly let him die despite numerous pleas on the Worldminds part to get him to relocate him to a new and safe location. Richard routinely ignores everythign the WOrldmind tells him and went and got infected by a techno organic virus that the WOrldmind was nearly destroyed by.
Most all of his actions towards Richard are fine if you ask me. The only problem with Worldmind is his manipulation of humans for the new corps and sending them off to war with little to no training.

Also, completely stripping Richard of all his Nova powers and leaving him to die from cellular failure on earth.
Kind've a dick move.
Leaving Richard is one thing, as is ejecting him from the Corps and recruiting in droves. But brain-washing the Novas en masse? That raises a few warning flags.
I like the idea of crazy Worldmind better, especially since they hinted at it already in the story and it makes for a better plot element than Worldmind going "I was just sick of your shit." Plus, Worldmind initially supported Richard's desire to utilize both the Nova Force and Worldmind's intellect to fight on the frontlines of the Annihilation War and save the galaxy, etc.
Funny little story. I picked up the first GoG trade a couple weeks back but when I started reading it I was like, "WTF? I don't remember anything leading to this". I then realized I had not read the second Conquest HC.
Dejected, I resigned myself to going to the comic shop to see if they had a copy - I was sure they wouldn't. I go into my "man lair" (where all my comics and general manly things are stored) to shelve the GoG trade until I can get appropriately caught up when what do I see? Annihilation: Conquest Vol. 2 HC sitting on the shelf.
Somehow I hadn't even realized I had already bought it. Good times in space were to follow.
I wouldn't say Conquest sucked. It just sort of fell apart at the end, as if they ran out of pages and had to wrap it up with giant ultron of doom nonsense.

Even though Groot is tempting.

So far Blastaar hasn't made his way into the conflict, wonder how that's gonna turn out.

Makes sense as one of the characters it's covering is King Blastaar.

and i'm absolutely sure that once Rich knew what was up, he hauled ass out of there
