nobody's gonna be buying these for the drums. Except "Rain," maybe.
i like how when Lennon was interviewed once and he was asked "Do you think Ringo is the best drummer in rock and roll" and he kind of laughed it off with "Hes not even the best drummer in the Beatles" referring to how when Ringo got in to a fight with the rest of them and left the studio so Paul took over for some of the recordings
"Saw Her Standing There" rocks way too hard to be kept out.
There are just so many tracks that they have to choose from, I'm sure they'll never be able to make everyone happy until they release the full catalog.
I hate Pink Floyd and enjoy Led Zeppelin, but find them overrated.
I basically asked because they're the holy grail of the unattainable rights.
Give me both. A Dark Side of the Moon album followed by a Led Zeppelin pack with Kashmir, Immigrant Song, and All of My Love or Black Dog. Save Stairway to Heaven for the next installation.
Still find it so weird how out of the blue this came.
I mean, when Guitar Hero got Band on the Run (a McCartney/Wings song) and Beat It (a Michael Jackson song, who owns the rights to most Beatles songs), I figured it was a done deal they would be going to GH.

Haha and now he's not even the best drummer in his FAMILY.
His son is the current drummer for The Who.

Agreed. And also - although one year SUCKS, it kinda makes sense. I'm assuming the deal is still semi-fresh, and turnaround on the masters is a very long process, and I'd also guess this release is going to be more than a DLC pack, so extra time would be required.
Although it also says Paul McCartney has seen a demo, so perhaps the GAME will in Christmas 2009, with a couple song packs between now and then...or McCartney just saw a ROCK BAND demo in general...
It'd be nice if they gave us a little taste though, eh? Say....a three-pack with on the their "big ones" to hold us over?
He also hasn't had a hit since the year Meg White was born.
Hey
Hey
Don't make me defend Meg White, and The White Stripes in general
They should have some White Stripes DLC. If you have anyone playing bass, they just have to stand there for 3 or 4 minutes. If they strum at all, automatic failure.

I'm sure if they put in the White Stripes they'll give something for the bassist to do. Just like in the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' songs.

Okay but will they give the drummer something to do?

Honestly though, he has relatively perfect timing. His general issue is that he's left handed and structures all his fills in the opposite way someone normally would because of it. His beats are also relatively simple.
One the side of Pink Floyd vs Led Zeppelin: Being someone that listens to and has played songs from both Zep would be WAY more interesting to fiddle with in Rock Band overall. Although there are a few key Floyd songs that would be great.

This is, sadly, pretty much true...but pretty much all of Pink Floyd would be fantastic for vocalists. Plus many of their songs have kick-ass guitar solos...even though the rest of the song might be kinda slow going. But it's floyd and playing their stuff in a full band would be made of 100% awesome.
7:12 -- McGrath is talking up the success of Rock Band 2. Calling today's partnership the "boldest move yet" for Rock Band.
7:13 -- Van Toffler, president of MTV Music and Logo group, takes the mic. "Today, we're announcing an exclusive partnership with Apple Corps, MTV Games, and Harmonix to create a brand new video game featuring the music of the Beatles." Emphasis mine: So, this is a brand new game, eh?
7:14 -- Talking about how fans will be able to experience Beatles music in an "interactive, new way." Giles Martin, son of George Martin, to serve as music producer on the project.
7:17 -- Alex picks up. "This is not just a Rock Band expansion pack, it is much much more than that." A "ground-up" project, a journey through the band's imagery and how the band evolved through their time together. This is a tall order.

Seems to imply you'll be able to export it into RB2. Awesome.

Funny you mention ...
7:18 -- Q&A starts. First question -- it's not a "Rock Band" branded title, says Rigopulos. Will be released holiday of next year.
7:22 -- Game will take us all the way through the Beatles' first album "Please Please Me" all the way to "Abbey Road."
Just because its not branded Rock Band doesn't mean you won't be able to export. Saying it's NOT a Rock Band expansion is a lot different than saying its not JUST a Rock Band expansion...

The quotes from the press releases from the remaining Beatles/spouses make it sound like the tracks will be Rock Band accessible. On the other hand, the quotes are from the Beatles/spouses, not videogamey people.

Hamlet will be Hamlet
An ineffable tragedy of the human spirit that still resonates, even today.
I'll finally be able to play drums on expert.

I think there's something wrong with anyone that doesn't like a song about an Octupus and his garden.

I mean, he's no Neil Peart or anything, but he's surely no Meg White either.
My friends and I had a theory about how the only people who hate Octopus's Garden are people that hate fun.
Do you hate fun?

The best way I can describe Ringo's drumming is that he doesn't overplay the music :P
actually that's one of the ones that sound pretty damned fun on guitar
have a listen friend

and of course it would be the best to sing. all of these songs are sex for the vocalist, because it's the damned beatles.
here's hoping for the golden slumbers medley.
Fuck both those bands, they need to put in Radiohead and My Bloody Valentine.

Let's have Pink Floyd screw Led Zeppelin, and then their unholy offspring could be Rock Band 3: Stoners Unite.
