No love on my previous page question about that Lucy West side quest? It's driving me nuts.
They mark 3 places on your map. You need to investigate inside each one.
No you dont
I went to the metro one, and was able to go through to their hideout wihtout even running to the other two
Eh, really? All I found in the metro was a ghoul selling Jet. I had to just hoof it off to the East after I thought I'd thoroughly explored the other three options and found nothing worthwhile except a ROCKET LAUNCHER off of a SUPER MUTANT i killed with a SLEDGE HAMMER jesus christ this game is awesome
yeah in the back of his place theres a room with some radioactive drums, theres a manhole cover there that leads down to some tunnels that will eventually take you to the place
Ah, I avoided that room as soon I saw the FIFTY MILLION RADS PER SECOND in the corner
I was trying not to spoil the entire quest line. I just wanted to get Gnome pointed in the right direction.
Can anyone give me a quick rundown on how to use my Xbox live account as a windows live account? I've never had a game with the option before.
do this with a new game - well you have to start a new game if you want to play under your Live profile, they keep the saves separate. you won't lose any saves you have though, you'll just have to signout to see them. anyway, to enable Live you
-goto the main menu and click the Live button

-give your live account info and login
-wait to download the profile
-setup the options (like remember name, pass, autologin)

it tracks achievements, lets you talk to friends, see who's online, etc. when its active the Home button on the keyboard brings up the interface. its pretty slick. i'm just bummed i didn't start it up from the beginning of my game.
Installed last night and after updating my video drivers (I had this problem with Spore too) I was able to get the game to run properly and not crash after the loading screen.
Only was able to make it out of the vault, but I'm a bit surprised that a crit from the switchblade is enough to knock off someone's head.
Krylon if you do this does it remove the account from yout xbox? Meaning the next time you use it you have retrieve your account on your xbox, cause that takes forever and is annoying
is there something like a torch? I cant see a damn thing.
On the PC version, you hold Tab (PipBoy shortcut) and instead of bringing up the PipBoy, it turns on a light.
Hmm... anything like this for the 360?
Edit: Ah, B button. Got it.

This game is so good.So good. It struck me yesterday, while waiting for my delinquent UPS driver to show up, that I've been waiting nine years for this... Would it meet my expectations?
So I was up until midnight playing, which is rare as I like to start work early, and by god I am positively enthralled. So much so, that I can't stop thinking about what transpired in the "short" time I was able to play (something around 4 hours...).
Meet Drake MacPherson... (Vault 101 Spoilers)
My character for my first time through the game is a rakish lad with a penchant for women, drinking, and drinking with women - a sort of Post Apocalyptic Dean Martin...
Raised with a well defined moral compass driving his actions, Drake is quick to help good people in need. However, he has zero tolerance for those who wrong him or those around him.
The entire opening sequence was stellar, and really pulled me into the game. The escape was good too - using my high speech to convince Butch that his mother was surely lost to the roaches, and that they would come for him next was great. I saved the poor woman nonetheless, but it felt good to mess with that ass Butch.
When confronted by the Overseer, I chose to surrender myself, thinking I could prevent any further bloodshed. Perhaps unsurprisingly, he attacked me with my own baseball bat! I managed to off him with a baton from a guard I had dispatched previously, only to have poor Amata flip out on me. It's not like I killed her fath... oh... well... OK.
Making it out of the Vault alive felt great - but stepping into the Wasteland for the first time was AMAZING. I came out sometime around dusk, with just enough light left to take a brief look around from the nearby "vista" point. It truly was one of those "What fresh hell is this?" moments!
Night fell quickly, and the game really made me feel like I was there. Drained of energy from my escape, and absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer immensity of the hellish landscape which was quickly blanketed by thick night, I really didn't know what to do. Out of nowhere, two raiders attacked! I managed to best them with my shitty 10mm, but was nearly dead.
Knowing I wouldn't last long in the dark, I dragged myself into the back of a broken down truck, drank two of the clean bottles of water I'd managed to get from the vault, and hunkered down until just before daybreak...
My God it feels so real.

Okay, ammo. There isn't enough of it. I guess maybe this is one of those Fallout things that carried over from the first two?
Anyway, question in that vein:
Is there a reliable ammo merchant other than Craterside Supplies in Megaton? If not, how often does she restock? I need to stock up on 10mm and 5.56 ammo.

Yeah, the integrating for the LIVE thing is very sexy. It makes a CHA-CHING type sound when you unlock an achievement. I kept thinking I was getting money.
I was really worried about the combat, being horribly bad at FPSs. However I forgot about that as soon as I started playing. As much as I thought the V.A.T.S. system was just an appeasement for the old-school crowd, it's actually really well done.

Yeah when ever I shoot someones head off I think of that scene in the new rambo movie where the sniper round takes part of the soldiers head straight off and it just flys straight. It is pretty awesome, I just want my eye and groin shots

hmm, i'm not sure - i haven't turned my 360 on since i installed fallout. i feel like its just logging you into live, and setting up a local copy of the profile to track stuff. it didn't say "hey we're removing your account from the xbox!" i think the idea is just a 'universal' integration of all microsoft gaming.

If you retrieve your account on any other xbox it doesn't tell you it is removing it from another xbox, in fact I was kinda confused when I first did it.
Ivan: Yea thoes death animations are pretty damn sick, I don't know if they could do that though, that sort of modelling done in real time with phyics and dynamic lighting on it would destroy performance, I agree it would be damn awesome though. I don't even know if the oblivion engine can do stuff like that, anyone know any of the particulars of the engine

The Lucy West quest we've just been talking about, or some other letter delivery? If it's the one to do with the family, I sort of need ammo to complete it, hehe. I am completely out at this point.

I'm pretty sure the cha-ching sound plays when you get xp. Since you get xp, as well as achievements, when you finish quests, it might sound like the achievement triggered the sound.

It's possible. I do remember hearing the sound when I first left the vault and got the 'Escape!' achievement.
I heard melee is a horrible route to follow? And that science is a must?
true or false ?
Melee isnt that bad as long as you take strength and endurance with it to buff up your DR and HP.
But theres always gonna be the sniper you cant get to before he spills your bowels on the decayed asphault, so its always good to have a range weapon to fall back on
Melee can suck at reaching people, a good example is right that the begining of the game in the vault
Where you find out jonas is dead and your dad left, you are trying to escape and there are the two security gaurds down that hallway you can charge them but you lose like 25% of your life before you get to them
Melee is still fun though, I love hiting people with my baseball bat

So just a few minutes out of the vault I wandered into some raiders, during a melee fight one of them said "screw this" and ran away a bit, as soon as he got around a pile of garbage, breaking line of sight, he disappeared from my compass and even though I was about 5 paces behind him he seemed to vanish into thin air.
Is this the effect of having average perception at work or a silly bug?
Also is there a sprint feature that I am missing? I seem to have 2 movement speeds, dramatic walk speed, and slightly faster I have had my morning coffee walk speed.
Intelligence +1 - At Rivet City in the lab.
Strength +1 - Megaton inside the house the sheriff lives in.
Medicine +10 - Vault 101 in Dad's office.
Speech +10(If I remember correctly) - Paradise Falls at Euology's pad.
There are 20 of these? Holy geez.
Only found 4 so far and I have been looking everywhere.
I've had something similar happen, altho they retreated, I lost track of them, and they showed back up to shoot me in the ass. I promptly ripped her head off with my powaa fist

Yeah I dont find melee to be too useful in this. I use the bat on small enemies so I dont waste ammo but on people with guns its horribly futile and you get your ass kicked. And super mutants..well...thats a different story altogether.

So, has anyone else "enrolled" in Springvale school?
And by enroll, I mean hunted down and eradicated those awful bastards inside! Because, JESUS, those raiders are sick, sick people! Talk about ! That was some deeply creepy shit. The part in the caves under the school was pretty awesome too, but I swear they used the same tileset from Oblivion. Kept expecting a goblin or a pile-o-logs trap. Not that I'm complaining, mind.
This email is to notify you of a delay in your order. The manufacturer has not released this product to Circuit City by the date that was specified, so we are unable to fulfill your order at this time.
Anyone know why Circuit City seems to be the only place in the world that didn't get their shipment of Fallout 3 for the PC?
I thought it might have something to do with the distributor not wanting to front the games to a company likely to go out of business, but they do have the 360 and PS3 versions.

Wasn't really a problem for many anyway since I pulled my pistol and shot each of them in the face three times from point blank range. :winky:

It seems like melee could be a lot better paired with stealth. I'm hoping to try that out on my next playthrough with my black widow chick.
