I'm interested to see how long it takes my Wasteland Dean Martin to develop the DT's. He drinks like a fish, and spends most of his caps on scotch. I've got him constantly 'em knocking back after fights (you know, to celebrate!), so I guess it's only a matter of time before he's addicted.
But hell, it's always 5 o'clock in the Wasteland.
This is pretty great.
My guy developed a bit of a psycho addiction. What can I say, the only thing better than killing stuff is killing stuff faster.
In the proper Fallout games, I never used much psycho. In Fallout: tactics, though, my whole multiplayer squad would OD on the shit before battle. So good.
Can anyone tell me how to get in the Jefferson Monument.
I went there looking for Dad, but I couldn't find an entrance....
Just a bump, thanks
Here you go:
there's a metal door the takes you into the gift shop. it's near the large metal walkway thing. if you just keep following the wall around the monument you'll eventually run into it.
I keep hearing that you can own a house? Where can I get me some property?
Defuse the bomb in Megaton.
According to our EVIL brethren in this thread, you get something similar if you go the EVIL route and help Burke instead. Although, obviously not in "Megaton Crater".
Aww, this almost makes me want to go pure evil.
But I'll continue to roleplay my character accordingly.
The explorer part of me just couldn't stand the thought of blowing up a town. There's quests and things to steal there!

I just looted the fucking place and did all the quests I could find and THEN blew the place up. And regarding what happens after that!
I got a fucking sweet pad in TenPenny towers with a robot that tells jokes and serves drinks.
Early Story (AA/Mech) Spoiler - If you don't know what either of those stand for, don't click this.
So, I chose to take out the AntAgonizer, and when I walked into her room, I threw Mines everywhere, assuming ants would be coming. Started the fight, critical shotgun blast to her face, ants blowing up, frenzying and killing eachother, and *see spoiler #2* cleaning up the pieces. Now I wear her costume everywhere.
Spoiler #2 (Companion Spoiler)
DOGMEAT!!!!!! I mean, I knew he'd be around somewhere, but I was still thrilled to find him, especially 2 or so hours into the game.

You get the robot if you save megaton and get the house their. It tells jokes too!
How the fuck do I get to the Washington Monument/Museum of Technology? It wouldn't be so hard to figure out if almost every street in DC wasn't blocked by debris.

yeah but you don't get to drink scotch with the upper class while they celebrate the fireworks that is megaton. That place is a shithole, I did a good thing

I would think that your bottoming out Karma would disagree with your final adjective.
peacefully end the ghouls moving in? I haven't done anything about the quest besides start it, but i'm playing a nice guy and I heard the ghouls will either murder the humans or vice versa. And I don't want that as one of them looks like my grandpa but I don't think the ghouls should have to rot outside either

maybe but this is the fun way to play you're wrong if you disagree
but yeah I'm Evil-Big Shot or something like that last time I checked. I got chased out of Tenpenny today for looting all the other residents while they slept. Fucker woke up and started shotgunning me. Whatever I went to Galaxy Radio and did some quests up there, now they forgot about all the looting.

Tunnels.
Tunnels, Tunnels, Tunnels.
If you have the quest as your main one, the compass pointers give you a pretty good idea of where to go.

yes this took forever and I burned through all my ammo and health shit at level 7 or something
I gotta say, I love the environment. I grew up in northern virginia, and have been into DC i ton of times. The museums, monuments, and metro system all look awesome in game. And the highway overpasses. Running along some of the highways I can remember exactly how the drive goes to get into the city, and then over to Union Station, over to dupont.
Man, this is like nostalgia AND post-apoc fantasy for me.

Haha, I used to live in Arlington so I know exactly what you mean, I was wandering around thinking about all the time I had spent in that area. I couldn't help but smile at seeing landmarks that I have been to.

Regarding Megaton, you'll both get a place to stay, but you'll earn more caps if you go the evil route - 1,000 compared to 100.
Maybe, but I've already gotten several "thank you's" from townspeople in Megaton. I've gotten gifts of 100 caps, 200 caps, and 6 stimpaks. I wouldn't say the rewards are better on the evil side, especially if the stream of goodies keeps up.
Edit: Should clarify, I haven't defused the bomb yet. Don't have enough demo skill.

Where the hell are you getting dogmeat at 2 hours? I'm 10 hours in and haven't found him yet!
I'm still trying to see if I can pinpoint where the Ritskeller is. The problem is I don't remember what street it was on, and I don't remember how to spell it! It's that bar that has a resturant in the basement, and they have tons of beers from all around the world.

I for one am looking forward to getting into the downtown area, if only to throw junk at the ITC (International Trade Commission) building, assuming it's there. I've got about 20 empty bottles of scotch I'd love to smash on the bloody thing.
Hey, for anyone who doesn't want to be evil in Megaton...
and nuke it... well, I did, and I made a save right before it goes off. It looks awesome. If you want to check it out I uploaded the save here. Just put it in your Saves folder and you'll be good to go.
ok now my only performance bug on PC is that when im roaming around for a while and run into enemies, 9/10 times I go into VATS to fight them it drops the fps to like 2 per second in and out of vats. have to exit and reenter the game to fix this.
but then again I am playing at almost maxed out 4xAA 12xAF so the AA is prolly the issue.. but the game is not pretty to look at with no AA
I'd love to go visit some of the other vaults, so if anyone has the locations, directions or a picture would be great.
I've got a tip, too, if you want to earn a lot of bottle caps. Save every Nuka-Cola Quantium and pre-war book you find. You'll earn loads of money by trading them with certain people who are looking for those items. You can also do the same with Sugar Bombs, although you get less money for them.
Locations for the buyers:
The people who will take the cola bottles are in Girdershade, which is in the lower left corner of the map, straight North of the Dunwich Building and straight East of Merigold Station and/or Grayditch. A lady wants to collect 30 bottles for 40 caps each, but the only other person there wants to take them from you to give to her himself. You can use speech on him and he'll pay 80 caps per bottle.
For the books, there's a Brotherhood of Steel scribe in the Arlington Library. She'll pay 100 caps for every pre-war book you give her. Part three of the Survival Guide quest from Moira will take you there. Otherwise, it's to the South of Farragut West Metro Station and the Super-Duper Mart. It's at the very edge of the map.
Anyone have any other good tips for locations or treasures? I'd also love to find a companion, the dog or otherwise, for a good karma character.

It's cool, I'm saving that for me second playthrough. I normally play evil characters in RPG's but wasn't feeling it this time. I really like being a good guy in this game.
Just not addicted. Haven't really done much either.
To each his own. I'm 20 hours into the game and still addicted. I've barely touched the main quest! I'm salivating at the thought of playing an evil character next.

So, I have the Black Widow perk on a female character.
When I get to the bar, Burke waves me over as usual. There's a Black Widow specific dialogue line, so I figure why not.
I was able to flirt with him, and he left the town all flustered. Now Moriarty keeps delivering love letters from him. I'm getting love letters from Mister Hey-Could-You-Nuke-The-Fuck-Out-Of-A-Whole-Town-For-Me Burke.

Burke killed the Sheriff and now Moriarty will probably gain full control of the town, does anyone think that if I kill Moriarty the other, nice, family who has a bar by the bomb will get control instead and make the town not go all evil..
This is the first game in a very very long time where I've felt that my actions actually impact the world around me, and I want to mold the world to a perfect haven for all things good.
Edit: How do you get a picture of yourself? The best I can do is zoom out a bit so I get to look myself in the back..

Regarding your spoilers, I'm about 14 hours in and nothing remotely interesting or dynamic has happened with that.
the GNR building, but I cant fucking get to it. Every metro tunnel I go through I end up 50 miles in the wrong direction, every pile of rubble I climb to try to get to it tops off with an invisible wall. HOW THE HELL DO I GET TO GNR PLEASE TELL ME before I snap and just..like...do something horrible

I am still hoarding them though.
