Complete (I'm sure nowhere near the first) ... on pc version from greenhouse. I still had four Triumphs yet to unlock so not even sure what to do to get those. I killed all but five enemies ... not sure where I missed them at to be honest, I was pretty thorough. I missed 3 pieces of concept art.
Got all parts and upgrades. Got the pervert triumph which made me laugh.
The length was significantly greater this time around, or at least felt that way.
As huge as the final boss's health bar was, and as pitiful as the damage I was doing was, I was expecting a VERY long final fight. It was ... rather abrupt.
rather abrupt indeed. I preferred the final boss from ep1. I got most everything and killed all enemies, however I missed Gabes final weapon (which I now know how to get) and I'm missing the third costume. I have the mime and the hunter, can you help me out?
nvm, apparently the third costume is assembled from items in the chests marked "open only in insane mode" looks like I'm up for another play through this weekend. I beat ep2 last night. I beat ep1 again from scratch today. I'll try for ep2 INSANE MODE tomorrow.
Finished both episode 1 and 2 in the last 2 days ... Loved both of them -- Loved episode 2's length and characters, but favoured the enemies in the first one a bit more.
I was a modest PA fan since the strips creation back in 1998 (or 99?). I stopped reading it about a year ago for various reasons (basically I stopped reading webcomics all-together). While I got wind that a PA game is in the works, I never know when/if it would be released.
Imagine my surprise when it shows up on my XB Live Marketplace a week ago.
Unconvinced, I downloaded the trial version of EP1. I love the game so much that I immediately bought EP1 and 2 from marketplace. After finishing both in 2 days, I even bought the PC version on Steam so I can play it on my notebook.
Spoilers ahead.
"Agony Barb - Engaged!"
Story-wise I like them both, although I like the more up-beat tone from EP1 a LITTLE more. The Silent Pope is my favorite character, and he didn't even need a word -- he doesnt' f*** around.
The dark humor in EP2 is very Penny Arcade. "I told you the fair would be awesome!" - said Tycho amid the collateral damage and untold loss of lives. Some complain about the robbing scenes in Riverbrook Estates. Hey, these guys can MURDER each other for a pacman watch, what wouldn't they have done for a pair of icecube-sized diamond ring? Or a million dollars in cold hard cash? (Gabe not wetting himself in the money fountain disappoints me a little though).
Thematically -- this may be my own imagination -- the choice of Hobo alley, Riverbrook and the Sanitarium may be a message that these places have more similarity than we think. Especially in the Riverbrook apartments -- when you check each door, you can see that the place is basically a madhouse ("and I mean it in a literal sense"), social status or not.
While hobos in the attacks you for being an outsider ("things are good before people like you show up!"), the rich bastards jumps you for the very same reason ("Look! The lower class!"). Mixing the Sanitarium in-between, and we can see the world of PAA (and in some level, our world) really is - a giant madhouse. The fact that hobo alley and Riverbrook is just one lightpole apart is even more chilling.
I like the various little touches in the world fair. Penny-farthing motorcycles ("F*** YEAH!"), hot-dog a new invention, and of course the giant orange (you just NEED a giant sphere of some kind to be a World Fair!). Of course in both games there are a ton of references that only a PA fan with ridiculously good memory can fully appreciate (ex. Eggplant Lincoln, or the Filth Weekly -- the paper that reports Gabe backs down and bought an XBOX).
Since I own both the 360 and PC version, I can't help but think EP2 on 360 is a little rushed/buggy/unpolished. There are several very obvious bugs, like the missing outfit which I filed in the bug thread. Also somehow the difficulty cannot be changed in the 360 version (not in insane mode). And I say unpolished because 1. the "Last Time on..." cutscene in the beginning is missing. 2. "Big Bang Theory" the smoke trail is completely broken, instead of the smooth lines in PC version. 3. Missing the close-up camera when viewing the "A**hole of tomorrow" statue in the Fair. I hope these can be fixed in the future somehow.
As for EP3, it now looks like it would set in (or at least feature) Underhell. Now that the Fruit F***er is out of the picture (maybe along with its smaller brethren), I hope that the Merch would take their place to be the staple monster ("I **** your dad!"). While you can get a Cardboard-Tube Samurai outfit in EP2, I still wish to see Gabe himself donning this classic costume. And bring back Dr.Whimple!!

I also felt the last boss fight was a bit... short. I was looking forward to getting all the final weapons for the characters, but only managed to get 1 before Ann Clare took off to build her big robot. The fact that I can't start with my save game in Insane mode, with all my levels is kind of annoying. I can start from my Ep1 save, but not the final Ep2 save? Lame.
Overall though, I thought Ep2 was pretty good. Though, I think I liked Ep1 more. The final boss fight was great, getting all the fully upgraded weapons was great, and I think the bad guys were much better. It didn't feel like there was a clear evil in this game. Mimes were pretty clear in the first one, and they had cool super mimes to fight. But they only put in like one new robot in Ep2 and he was kind of a cake walk.
Oh, thats another thing too. I played on the hardest difficulty I could, and it felt really easy compared to Ep1. I liked the challenge in Ep1. I don't think there was a point in 2 where I felt I was in any real danger. Maybe thats what insane mode is for, but I'm not sure if I wan't to go back and play through it again. I probably will though.

There's a machine in the last area that lets you upgrade your weapons the same way Anne Claire does.
realy enjoyed epesode 2 can see the point being made that in some ways its not as awsome as one but think its an epesode to build up to 3 corse the prob with 2 is 2's boss and minions is basicaly one of the mager elements in one the robots and as for the ...
final boss battle the joke is the way its taken out of your hands at the end and given to your robotics expert
but second side note the pie bit was just awsome and I realy mean that lol
Just finished Episode 2 on 360. I loved it but I have some of the same complaints as others have stated namely
Fist off I ported my completed save from Episode 1 and I never got the mime outfit at all. Secondly the overall game felt too easy.
the only boss fights that felt like a boss fight was Wolfington and the furnace and even then those were a bit easier than they should have been. Maybe insane mode will feel tougher. The fight against Fruit Fucker Prime was a total let down. The build up felt like it was going to be so epic but the actual fight was a complete and total let down.
While I'm at it why did we fight Fruit Fucker prime so early in the series? Doesn't this end the PC's quest for revenge and therefore end his need to help Gabe and Tycho? I mean your whole motivation was killing the thing that destroyed your house. Now that you've done you sort of don't have a reason anymore.
So how are Gabe and Tycho gonna talk you into going with them this time?
I am looking forward to EP3 and Dr Raven Darktalon Blood. When he appeared at the end and that little speech he gave had me going "oh fuck yea!"

Glad, glad, GLAD that I'm not the only one having this problem. So it's now confirmed that this is a 360 bug. No one here seems to play the 360 version at all, so all my bug report fell on deaf ears. (Everyone I told about this problem tells me to "try reinstalling the game", which didn't help. I guess they refer to the PC version.)

Mostly likely you miss the Tyrants on your way out of Cloying Odor Sanitarium (Yes there are enemies from the fountain to the entrance of the Sanitarium (where you encounter enemies for the 1st time)

is it just a new game+ and will it affect my profile for episode 3 in any way?
