Did you score a loot card?

I had let this one blink out of my mind until like, now. Man, is it out for general consumption?

I had 5 boosters (two come with the starter set, bought two, got one free for preordering it). Alas, no loot cards.

Also, the box the starter set comes in is big. Think two WoW boxes on top of one another. Or four regular DVD cases in a stack. It can keep your entire deck for carrying around, though I'm not sure if it fits with card protectors on.

I need to get transparent deck protectors, rather than the ones I have with black backs. The back art on the cards is pretty good - and Hero cards have a full-size picture of the hero on the back.

You start the game with your Hero of choice in play. You then place other cards as resources (ie, lands from Magic). You use your regular cards for this, there are no special resource cards. You can then play your cards by tapping the resource cards for, well, resources.

Apart from the Hero, you have Allies that you play to form a party. There are various ability cards that can only be used by a character (hero or ally) of that class. Some abilities can only be used by Heroes with a certain talent - these talents are the same as the three talent trees from the game (Arcane, Fire and Frost for a mage).

I think allies can use ability cards as well, so you might be able to toss an Execute if you have a warrior ally in play.

There are equipment cards as well - I got a few weapons and armor pieces in my boosters. These can only be used by the appropriate classes - no plate armor for mages!

Oh yeah, and Quest cards. These are cards with no cost to play. They all come with a condition - when that condition is filled, you have the option of paying resources to get the reward from that quest. Most rewards I have are of the "draw X cards" kind.

I'm guessing 15-20 bucks for the starter. Boosters seemed to be pricier than for other games, though.

Is this product available to the general public yet? Is there a chance that my local comic shop has it?

Are there any cardlists online that we could check to see if cards exist that have in game effects?

I'm at work so I couldn't bring up any such sites.

    Ayup.

    For the work-impaired:

    Landro Longshot: Unique in-game tabard
Thunderhead Hippogryph: Unique in-game hippogryph pet
Saltwater Snapjaw: Unique turtle mount (normal running speed)

And then there are points you get with each booster - I got a total of 26 points with 5 boosters. You can redeem an as of yet unknown amount of points for...
Reward #1: An alternate blue tabard
Reward #2: A reusable trinket that sets off a unique fireworks display
Reward #3: A reusable trinket that changes your in-game appearance to an ogre

The point site is coming up this week. Dunno if there's somewhere to redeem in-game stuff yet. It will probably be an NPC you give the code to, just like the baby murloc NPC. Probably at the same spot too.

My friends and I picked up some starters over the weekend and played the shit out of it.

Takes some of the best parts from UFS, VS, and Magic and combines it into one fun game. Our only problem with it is a few shoddy rulings that may or may not be true.

Are the FLGS' the only places that have gotten it in thus far?

Anyone spot them in any large chain retailers?

Mainly curious, so I might be able to save a half-hour driving time.

It is brilliant marketing. Expand a new market to your already borderline-psychotic product addicts and find a way to allow them to buy and sell in-game products without actually violating the ToS. Blizzard: 2 Society: -4587347

Some items will become available once you reach a certain threshold. For example, if you’ve accumulated a total of 50,000 points, you could be able to unlock a new forum avatar by spending only 1 point.

I sure as hell hope that's an example with a number pulled out of someone's ass, because five booster packs gave me 26 points. :|

Oh, you can tap Quest cards as resources. Then they're pretty much the equivalent of lands in Magic.

Now to find out if I can tap unfinished quests for resources.

I bought the Inquest that has a been feature about this game. Pretty informative, and there's a link to more of the article online.

Would it be alright to scan those pages and link them here? If so, would anyone want to see them? I know I saw scans of an article about The Burning Crusade up here before, but...just to be safe.

As I hear it, this game is suspiciously Versus like.

ON that note, I am kind of worried about starting to play this game. I am not a WoW player and I worry that this will be 1 of 2 things.

1- A smaller game like VS. I have a REALLY hard time find places to play VS, largely while I stopped playing...

2- A game where I feel left out, because people only ever talk about WoW. This one is probably the most likely, hence the Hail Satan!

ALso, if anyone is trying to get massive points, you can go to www.ude.com and answer some 5 question survey to get 50 points. As I hear it, that is like $2X worth of packs.
