Words you are unlikely to see me post in the next pages of this thread: "X is off-topic," because I'm just going to warn you here. This thread is a bitch to keep up with and mod when it's on-topic, and impossible when people use it as a dumping ground for any political news story. If it's not directly related to Obama v. McCain don't post it.
Think it's really important, and still want to post it?
If you quote a youtube video, throwing a spoiler around it would be appreciated.
The idea that your vote is a moral statement about you or who you vote for is some backwards ass libertarian nonsense. Your vote is about society. Vote to protect the vulnerable.
Honestly, I think what the Republicans are going to learn from this is that they need to find a candidate who has no soul for 2012.
I think Romney was that candidate for 2008, he could very well go up against Obama in 2012.

In the long term, it would be good for them. If they toss up someone even more unscrupulous in 2012 and get beaten even worse, the only logical conclusion to draw is that maybe that kind of campaign isn't working anymore.
And then the healing begins. It'll be a long time before they stock up with enough people to challenge for a majority again, but they'll at least know who they need to have running for office to have a chance.

Man, that's an awesome cover pic. Obama's witchery that he performs on cameras even works on British people, it seems.
I do have one problem with the article, and that is that no mention is made of Biden. A whole segment about Palin, but none on Biden. You might think, "Oh, Palin just shows that McCain is willing to do anything to get elected; Biden's not like that", but one of the problems they brought up with Obama is his lack of executive experience and foreign policy knowledge. Little exec experience with Biden, but he's a foreign policy superheavyweight. The word Biden doesn't even appear in the article, though.
Seriously. What would it be like to have a president that could actually intelligently discuss every major issue of the day on that level?
Clinton wasn't exactly stupid. He's a pretty smart guy.
So, I guess it would be a bit like the Clinton administration... except hopefully without the trouser-dropping.
Clinton's definitely a smart guy, but he had areas that he would always talk around rather than about. Obama is definitely stronger in some areas than others, but he directly addresses any issue put in front of him.
I love me some big dog, don't get me wrong. Obama just seems more in control and straightforward than Clinton ever did, at least to me.
Although several months have passed since Bear and Bird Gallery owner Amanda Magnetta-Ottati's put out an open call for political works to South Florida artists, only 75 have responded. While that's a good number for this small gallery to work with, it's half the response she received for last year's "Skull Sessions" show.
Magnetta-Ottati surmises that some people don't like to think about politics or express their political views so openly and concretely. "Talking with other people about how you feel about this stuff can be really touchy," she explains. "It is better sometimes to just stay ignorant of the views of your friends and relatives because it can really change the way you see them."
But harsh judgment likely won't be a concern when "Viva la Propaganda: Political Art" opens Saturday. Magnetta-Ottati assumed that the bulk of the submissions would be on the Democratic/liberal side, but as the works arrived at the gallery, she had trouble unearthing even one example of a conservative point of view. She blames the anti-establishment nature of artists for this imbalance. The entrants, who employ everything from acrylic to gourmet jelly beans to make their points, probably would agree with that assessment.
Joe Amaro created a George W. Bush action figure as a character in the G.I. Joe Universe, and labeled him Cobra the Enemy. "G.I. Joe is the code name of America's daring, highly trained special mission force," Amaro explains. "Its purpose is to defend human freedom against Cobra, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world. In my world, Mr. Bush is a Cobra operative who infiltrated the White House in order to sabotage the U.S. He killed the economy, put us at war, took freedoms away and so much more. The sad thing is that's exactly what happened in real life. It's not a cartoon."
Kerry Tichenor, co-owner of Sweets From Heaven candy store in Boca Raton, cut 400 jelly beans in half to create an image of the Democratic nominee for president, whom she not surprisingly supports. "Obama" was inspired by the limited-edition poster that printmaker Shepard Fairy created for the Obama campaign. "It's really supercontrasty and simple," Tichenor says. "And having looked at that, I thought, 'Wow, I can transfer that easily into jelly beans.'"
Todd Nolan's "Pink Lincoln and Adolf Shitler at Camp Kolibri" addresses the homophobic religious right. It depicts Abraham Lincoln and Adolf Hitler as gay men in a church-run "ex-gay camp." Sergio Quinonez's "Make Art Not War" relays an anti-war message in its portrayal of a graffiti artist as a soldier.
"But instead of a rifle on his back, he's got a brush," Quinonez says. "Instead of having bullets on his chest, he's got the old-school graffiti mop. … He's standing in a revolutionary position with his fist up, but he's holding a spray can."
One of the show's most thought-provoking pieces, Magnetta-Ottati says, is an essay by 11-year-old Pablo Volaric. "I just think it is so sincere and pretty funny, too," she says.
The piece begins, "I choose Barack Obama because he didn't bomb anything. If he somehow dies, some stupid person will not get in office. Obama is not an oil tycoon yay. …"
As for the political discussions that may transpire at the show's opening: "I imagine it will be interesting," Magnetta-Ottati says, "a lot of laughing and commiserating probably."
"Viva la Propaganda" will open with free beer, hot dogs and cookies 7-10 p.m. Saturday and run through Nov. 22 at Bear and Bird, 4566 N. University Drive, in Lauderhill. Contact 954-748-0181 or Bearandbird.com.
Clinton was a Rhode Scholar, right? Definitely a smart guy.
I'd put Obama on a higher level, though. And, of course, if he gets caught in an extramarital affair, I'll eat my cock.
Yeah he was a Rhodes Scholar, and it definitely points to him being smart. However, I tend to think of Rhodes Scholars not being necessarily smarter than average, but perhaps more driven. I base this solely on the fact that I know one, and she is a very driven person.
That said, I don't necessarily think that Obama is smarter than Clinton. I think Obama may just have a better understanding of the real issues facing the average citizen.
I've been lurking the last 10 iterations of these American Presidency threads and been highly entertained in the process, so I guess posting Pablo's report is my way of giving back.
And someone should shop an Aston-Martin in the background of that Economist cover. Just to emphasize his 007osity.

Also a monocle.
Apparently even McCain is now breaking with his party message.
Short form: Obama is not a Socalist.
With all those cigarettes he's smoked, he should be able to fit a cigar in there too.
He's also not an Arab. He's a good family man.
Am I the only one wondering where the dramatic explosion that's supposed to behind him is? Because that is such a Die Hard kind of shot.
The harder the rain, honey, the sweeter the sun.
It kinda looks like an album cover too.
I loved the paper from Pablo in the last thread.
I mean, if there was a dramatic explosion behind him, his shadow would be in front of him, not to his left.
Yeah let's link that in this one.
Pablo is awesome. That is all.
The harder the rain, honey, the sweeter the sun.
But there SHOULD be one.
He needs to be walking away from a terrorist camp he just single-handledly destroyed.
The harder the rain, honey, the sweeter the sun.

dum as bricks
I like the part about the bible, the dinosaurs and the oil.
Also I wish I wrote more papers in school that ended "I'm done with this".

They tried to bury us. They didn't know that we were seeds. 2018 Midterms. Get your shit together.

:?:
It looks a bit more like he just dodged a landmine..
I almost want him to have one and get caught so I can hear "Excuse me while I whip this out." at a congressional hearing.
Obama and Maddow?
I don't think my genitals will like that. They'll be confused about which one they're supposed to be getting hard for.
Nobody move or the n***** gets it!
Yeah :?
Regardless, +1 to Obama in NY.
