Anyone else pick Black Widow as a perk and charm Mr. Burke?
He falls in love with you, gives up his quest to detonate megaton and leaves. I came back a bit later to find two love notes from him that he had given to Moriarty for me.
This should be interesting...
There's a town up northeast that's being terrorized by constant battles between two
super-foes, The Machinist and The AntAgonist.
If you have the Lady Killer perk you can seduce
the AntAgonist and make her give up her evil ways. She gives you her armor, but not her heart.
I wonder if the Black Widow perk allows you to go another rout.
If you have Child at Heart there you can convince the Mechanist to stop, and then use something he gives you to convince the AntAgonist to stop.
The hallucinations and shit you have in there are awesome, pure awesome, Tranquility Lane kind of awesome. But they don't lead anywhere... it would have been cool if there was some sort of character development or if you got a confrontation with someone in there who was still willing to talk to you to tell you what happened (even though this is explained through the computers).
Oh well... I would have liked more but I guess you can't always get what you want. Hallucinations were still awesome while I was having them.
I can't help but feel I missed something there. Did you notice that the last guy you fight isn't an "insane survivor" but just a "survivor"?
Yeah, I noticed that. I tried reloading to see if I pissed him off somehow but he always attacks.
Its a problem with all the bonus vaults. They've got a cool backstory, but theres no resolution. You just wander about until you think you've seen all the story, then leave.

I found the clone vault to be incredibly disappointing. If ever there was a cool setup for a detailed backstory as the vault slid into paranoia and violence, that was it. And I couldn't even find a single piece of backstory info, on either computer terminal or holodisk.
In the northeast corner of the map there's a walled city called Old Onslom... or something. It's chock full of Deathclaws that I nuked my way through (I'm an unarmed specialist, but there's no WAY I'm fighting those fuckers hand to hand). Pretty damned taxing, but at the end of it all you find a room of three corpses. Two aren't important, but the third is a BoS member with a prototype medically-enhanced powered armor that talks and automatically applies shit to injured limbs or something.

Hallucinations were great, especially when you use the computers and they're telling you to relax and settle down, then it wears off and you see the computer you were using was all trashed to hell with a busted screen. I never once lost my sense of direction like most people claim, though, and I seem to recall reading a preview that it was supposed to fuck with your local map screen, but mine always seemed accurate. I did get quite freaked out though when I'd explore a room, come back to continue going deeper, and there'd be new random stuff sitting in the middle of the hall.
The thing that pissed me off the most was the fact that towards the end of your explorations, you can enter a security office and get the Vault 106 Master Key, but I explored the whole place and never found anywhere to use it. Also, the hallucination affects were a little hamhanded despite how cool they were, creepy shit is a lot creepier when it seems normal instead of the entire world abruptly turning bright purple.
My favorite place so far has got to be the Nuka Cola plant, ohh god it's great, their special brand of enemies and the background story for nuka cola are all awesome.
So power armour. How the heck can you wear it when it weighs like 80lbs suit/helmet. I tried to pick some up when I threw down with some bad power armored dudes but its so damned heavy! I won't be able to carry no loots.
Get the perk that adds 50 pounds of carrying weight. That should balance it out.
I already have it. It doesn compensate for the 8 Chi-com rifles and half dozen body armours I carry for resale and repair.

Really? Never found that key... Yeah, it could have been cooler without the purple. Despite its flaws my three favourite moments in the game so far are going out of vault 101 for the first time, Tranquility Lane and vault 106...
Really, except for the starting to run out of ammo, I didn't find fire ants to be horribly difficult. Sometimes you just have to take the fire ant nectar, take the flames and blow the bugs' heads off.
Speaking of the Those! quest
Did anyone notice the doctor in that quest has the same voice as the old scientist in Futurama?

That mutant behemoth fight is freaking awesome! I ended up hiding in a corner and lobbing frags at him while the BOS shot him with lasers. Then, when he had low health, he took off like he was gonna run away, so I jump out and gun a huge mutatn down with the chinese assault rifle.
Was there anyway to save that initiate, Reddling or whatever?
I finished this game and I came here to read all the spoilers to see what everyone else thought about the same experience I had. And I don't think you guys had the same experience playing through this game because I don't know what most of you are fucking talking about.

This game is GINORMOUS. I have the LE guide and I think it will take months of real time (not game time) to see everything.
I'm 14 hours in and I've barely done anything! I'm such an exploration whore. Did someone say that energy weapons had little ammo? Because I just went through the robot factory and came out with nearly 500 rounds of energy ammo.

A quick question, so I know how long I have until I complete the main quest, thus ending the game. For the main quest, I have to now go to Rivet city, for the first time. How much of hte main quest is left? I'm wondering cause people mentioned it was short.
Went into the junkyard, heard the sound of a fight, rounded a corner to see a bandit corpse, then around another corner comes Dogmeat. I go round that corner, and Dogmeat had just killed four bandits on his own.
...and I promptly told him to stay in Megaton while I went to hit Molerats with a stick. Since I don't know how tough he is and I don't wanna lose him.
The trip was typical; you wait forever for a Super Mutant then three come along at once.
Has anyone been able to buy the empty house in Megaton? I really want somewhere to store my extra useless crap that I don't want to sell, especially the unique costume pieces like
Lucas' hat and coat after he died after I warned him about mr. burke, and the AntAgonist costume.
I'm a little worried that I won't be able to now that
Lucas is dead. I think he was the only one who mentioned it, nobody else will talk about it.
edit:: Other than that, I'm enjoying this game immensely. I wish there were more actual towns and plotlines, so I could play more of my usual talkboy, but it does a great job of capturing that post-apocalyptic, survivalist feel.

Disarm the bomb, and Lucas's son will give you the house

Disable the bomb, and Lucas's boy will give yout he key and deed to the empty house in Megaton.
So I found Georgetown after wandering around the sewers. It was a really bad time to find it. I popped out and Talon Mercs were waiting for me, and Dogmeat, bless his heart, always wants to taste Merc flesh. Dogmeat runs after them so I have to choice but to follow. I dispatch one of the Mercs before the other two start firing at something else. I headshot them with my rifle, taking my time, before realizing what the Mercs were concentrating on. A Centaur rounds the corner and dogmeat attacks it. Meanwhile, I'm trying to shotgun the two super mutants that came behind it. After I dispatch them most unceremoniously (shotgun blasts to the face), I save dogmeat, who had been putting on a heck of a fight. The little canine companion still has more fight in him, however, and runs off around the corner. I follow him to see what's up and find three more super mutants. He leads one off allowing me to attack the two with the assault rifles point blank, but just as I'm about to target them up, dogmeat falls to their relentless attacks.
That's when I got really angry. I used the rest of my shotgun clip taking out the two other supermutants before attaching the power fist and charging the last one in a fit of rage. VATS helped me punch it in the face, and a few blows to his grotesque stomach finished the job. I expect anyone watching would have seen a scary ass mother fucker concurrently heaving in breaths and sobs for his lost companion.

Thought it was pretty awesome.
Old Olny.
It is HELL ON EARTH. Deathclaws everywhere. I accidentally fell into a "trap" leading through the sewers. Barely got out of there with my life. It doesn't help that most of the town is walled in and there are only 2 ways to get in and out.

I had Child at Heart, and they gave me an free unique laser rifle
If you have Child at Heart there you can convince the Mechanist to stop, and then use something he gives you to convince the AntAgonist to stop.
Holy christ is Child At Heart so much more useful.
If that's the one I'm thinking of, you can also buy it for a modest fee.
Child at heart has been largely worthless so far, I can tell you that.

Hmm, ok. That's a departure from the originals. In them they were energy weapons.

I wish I knew this when fifteen of them were CHASING ME.
I love this game to bits.
I don't have any awesome stories though, other than the million ants but thats not really interesting.
one of the conversation with the kid tells you the effective way of killing fire ants.

Power Armor doesn't boost strength anymore?
Edit: Yeah it does, but not as much and it also lowers agility (which makes sense) but it's a lot less overpowered in FO3.

Of course it does. That's what the "power" in power armor is for.
But it does lower your agility, even the advanced Enclave armor.

It's got bugs and crashes everywhere, is that not good enough?
