This thread is all about movie that didn't get the love and admiration they so obviously deserved.
Here is my contribution:
I saw this on a whim when it first came out, and absolutely loved it. It was to Will Farrel what The Truman Show was to Jim Carrey; the odd, semi-serious role where he showed that, yes, he can actually act. People need to force him to do more work like this. Plus, it had Maggie Gyllenhaal looking hot, and Emma Thompson being really crazy and awesome. It also had a sweet and interesting story with a life-affirming ending.
I never saw the television ads! I feel like I've missed out on an important cultural experience.
the ads in the movie
have you even seen Starship Troopers?
I mean I dont know how anyone could miss the fact that its satire.
Like I said, it's been a looong time since I saw it, but mainly I remember the parts on space ships and the fighting CG bug aliens on the planet and the guy getting his brains sucked out and that one sex scene. The satire didn't stick with me so much.

You know what I'm going to plug though.
DARK CITY
DARK FUCKING CITY.
Stop whatever you're doing and go and watch it.
shame that
it was a satire, people, get with the program
I like the cut of your jibb, Mr. Hand.
Jordan of Elienor, Human Shaman
everyone loves Shaun of the Dead but Hot Fuzz is so fucking wonderful
also on the subject of british films
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
trust me, this movie is sooo good
People who don't are basically idiots.
If you want to be a big cop in a small town...
Your statement confuses me. Who does not like Hot Fuzz?
The overly cheesy television ads.
If you couldn't figure it out based on those alone you are dumb
nu-uh, elf is

oh god david cross
i saw this movie with a bunch of people and i was like "man this isn't going to be good" and then i was surprised with how funny it was
Layer Cake is superior in every way
but they speak to the angsty, bitter, secretly hopelessly romantic teenage girl in me
also, mean girls, but that got way overappreciated for a while.
Jordan of Elienor, Human Shaman
It is due to Amanda Bynes being hot.
Or do you mean in the movie itself, it's been so long I can't remember if there were silly ads in the movie.

I mean, fuck! It's one of the best (animated) shows out now. And I believe some episodes are on youtube.

I never hear this movie mentioned even though it's fucking hilarious.
all of you fucks should see this film
all yous
also the fact that all the people in the movie were absurdly attractive and athletic and intelligent
and that they lived in a fascist society in which most rights were denied to anyone but citizens who earned those rights through military service
and that they had a scene in which mormons traveled to a bug-infested spot to spread the good word but they were all viciously killed by the aliens

Christopher Walken is hilarious in this. Funnier than...the deer hunter. That's for sure.

i love it. and the one-shot long scene is awesome and the baby crying and everyone pausing scene is great, if a bit ridiculous and implausible.

Its a great movie yes but I mean its not like it was some sort of underground thing
A million times yes.
