Does anybody know if you will be able to get all of Shadow's dreams in the GBA version? Also, there were rages that never appeared on the veldt and monsters on the veldt that had no rage. Has this been fixed?

The rumor that there are more (seven?) dreams is false. You can get them all in the SNES version.
Anyway, what's with everybody acting like this game is going to cost $500?

It's just the fact that there are slew of other games in and around this release window, that's all. Between this, Hotel Dusk, Phoenix Wright 2, etc., some of us have to weigh our options... because FF6 obviously takes the highest priority. RIIIIIGHT?!

Really? In Final Fantasy Anthology I tried really hard to get all the dreams. I got up to the one where he meets the woman and I never saw any more after that and I doubt that was the last one.

If memory serves, there's four. The last one has like a 1 in 28 chance of being seen or something.
[spoiler:f4b4a05571]The one where he leaves his daughter behind? I've only seen it once. I don't think the game ever outright SAYS that Relm's his daughter, but I think they made it pretty clear.[/spoiler:f4b4a05571]
Also, has anyone seen that mini cutout standee with Terra/Tina(maybe I should get used to that) on it? I've already called rights on the one our local GS has. It looks like a keeper.

Has anyone played FFIVa/Va on the GBA Player to see how it compares to the SNES? Mine is in cold storage right now and it would be a pain in the ass to drag it out, but it just seems like VIa would be so much better if I could play it on an actual TV.
Zimmydoom, Zimmydoom
Flew away in a balloon
Had sex with polar bears
While sitting in a reclining chair
Now there are Zim-Bear hybrids
Running around and clawing eyelids
Watch out, a Zim-Bear is about to have sex with yooooooou!

I am guessing because of the different resolutions, FF2/4 on the GBA player looked like ass for some reason.
I'm quite happy that they did not remake FFVI to be 3D like FFIII. FFIII looks like shit.
:x
I'll contest the second sentence, but I agree with the first. FF3 was easier to remake because the game had never been released in the West, so there was no cultural baggage associated with overhauling the whole thing. Shit, you have FF devotees on both sides complaining about the whole Tina/Terra thing in this remake. Can you imagine the nerd rage that would explode over any 3D rendering of the series?

Riiiiight. I'm pushing off Phoenix Wright 2 for this bad boy, although I have Hotel Dusk and am loving it. But this ... this is a potent combination of 1) a great game and 2) an unprecented gloss of nostalgia. Really, not buying FF6a is downright un-American.

Damn straight! However, I'm not sure that Squeenix is really going to any length whatsoever to inform consumers that this is the same game that crushed the charts 13 years ago on teh SNES and that's a little disappointing. I mean, those of us posting here are very likely aware of the mix-up between the Japanese and American enumeration of the series, but I'm not sure that more casual folks are going to get the connection without some sort of "hey, 'tards! this used to be FF3!" message.
Thanks for the reminder everyone. My wife is jonesing for an old school RPG (she's running through Earthbound right now), and I'm pretty sure FFVI will hit the spot.
Why...why would they anger me so with such a frivolous name change.
Because those were their names in the original version, and they shouldn't have been changed in the first place? I'm glad we're seemingly getting a new translation, that old one was kinda funky in parts (although, not as bad as FFIV's)
Odd question, I know, but in FFIV Advance does anyone know if they tampered with the classic line,

"You Spoony Bard!"
Nope -- it's fully intact, in all of its spoony goodness.
You can rename characters in this game, right? So it won't really matter what Terra is called outside of the packaging/manual.
Yeah, her name was Aeris and people STILL insisted it was Aerith.
Of course "Terra" doesn't sound like you've got a lisp and isn't spoken mainly by people who think Sephiroth and Cloud are gay lovers, so it might not be the same case.
I haven't been following this thread. Did they change Terra's and Sabin's name to the original or not? It doesn't matter because of the option to change their names but I'm confused because Nintendo Power clearly calls the characters "Terra" and "Sabin" but people here are saying that they're changed back.
There hasn't been one single source posted on the name change in the history of this thread and probably other threads like this. I have no idea where people got it in their heads the names would change. Granted it could be a possibility but is by no means a guarantee.
I think subconsciously people just want to have some big name debate for no good reason.

Same deal. Region free goodness so import away my friend.
I realise this may be the most "n00by" of all questions (sorry, I hate that term too) but regarding FFVI and its story.
Is it fairly deep?
I was going to get FF3 DS but am shying away from it since its apparently a weak story tacked onto a game that never really had one (for the characters at least).
FFVI is a mildly solid FF game yeah?

Yeah. Somewhere in between 5 and 7, seriously. There isn't a lot of fleshing out of individuals as much because there are so many characters, but some neat stuff happens, lots of long scenes, etc.
Also, nobody should be playing FF3 for the story anyway...but it's not too much worse than FF4, if you were ok with that. It's not like you're wandering around for no reason at all.

As far as the 8- and 16-bit FFs go, it's about as deep as you can get. I would say it's a definite buy if you are weary of FF3's complete lack of a good story.

Possibly from translating Japanese screenshots.
Every westernized screenshot I've seen (usually in NP) has had the name we're used to.

Probably.
I don't see why they didn't just give it the DS treatment, like III.

Then we should all celebrate that Square's localization team didn't adhere to specific romanization guidelines.

Mildly solid? That's an insult.
counting down the days until I face the "shimsham" attack.
Also if the translation calls her 'Tina,' I'm going to hurt someone and then rename her Terra.
Aerith.
Aerith.
Aerith.
This will probably be the only one I buy.
Unless I can be convinced otherwise.

EVERONE wants FFVIa.
Not wanting it isn't just unamerican, its inhuman. Or possibly even an indication of non-sentience.
