I'm kinda surprised that this game is 35, a bit more expensive than alot of DS games. Yeah, it'll still be worth it of course, but it does seem a bit pricey.

I'm assuming they had to use a larger cart to contain all the awesome (I have no idea actually)
You can rename characters in this game, right? So it won't really matter what Terra is called outside of the packaging/manual.
Yeah, her name was Aeris and people STILL insisted it was Aerith.
Of course "Terra" doesn't sound like you've got a lisp and isn't spoken mainly by people who think Sephiroth and Cloud are gay lovers, so it might not be the same case.
FF3DS was like $40, IIRC. Maybe it's a Square-Enix thing?
What is the standard price for DS games? The only new ones I've bought recently have been sqenix titles, the others were used.
Edit - just remembered this is a GBA game, duh. So question still holds what is the 'standard' price for a new gba game and a new ds game.
EBStop prices:
DS -- most appear to be $34.99; some are $29.99 (Phoenix Wright) or $19.99 (usually "Touch Generations" games that aren't EBA or Nintendogs). FF3 is listed at $39.99, for the record.
GBA -- hard to determine from the website, as the GBA no logner has its own section (just search results), but there are 25 hits in the $20-29.99 range and 49 in the $10-19.99 range, while only 3 in the $30-39.99 range (bear in mind that these results include accessories and strat guides). The three $30+ items are Pokemon Emerald, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (Red), and FFVIA.
Hey, you story guys have to admit that the story took a back seat once you hit the world of ruin. It went from "large, world in turmoil epic storyline" to "meet someone, have a cutscene, find some espers."
It's still a whole lotta fun, but the WoR is mostly a treasure hunt and level grinding.

True enough, but it was really cool that they basically give you access to the final dungeon right away in the WoR. Don't feel like getting everything/everyone before taking on the boss? Go for it!

I was such a completionist as a young lad that it never occurred to me to tackle the final dungeon with anything but a complete and full party. I'll probably try the Celes/Sabin/Setzer run as my second playthrough this time 'round.

Totally. I really appreciated being able to hop into more advanced areas with an underdeveloped party and beat a sub-boss by the skin of my teeth, and acquire an otherwise overpowered weapon quite early. Much better than waiting until the almost-last minute

Its fun to do once, but instant death/pertification/zombie attacks are really annoying when you are are a single person party.
I need to go into a coma or something for the next two weeks so I can just skip the waiting.
Freeze yourself, it's the only way.
Sure, everyone copy Walt Disney.
How original!
He.... he's waiting for FFVIa as well?
The man was truly ahead of his times.
EVERONE wants FFVIa.
Not wanting it isn't just unamerican, its inhuman. Or possibly even an indication of non-sentience.
Hyperbole aside, I probably won't buy this. I just don't feel like playing FFVI for what is in all likelyhood the 15th time start to finish. If I had a lot more disposable income I'd probably pick it up, but I can't justify paying for the exact same game I already own. I love FFVI as much as the next person, maybe I'm burned out on it.
Edit: Call me when they release FFT for a system I own.

I have a friend who'd never played a Super Mario Bros. game before NSMB. He's 26 and plays video games, so I don't know how this was possible.
Back on topic, I'm so looking forward to completing my handheld FF1-6 collection it's scary. Now all they need to do is announce a VII remake for the DS.

On a technicallity, you can get FF7-FF9 on the PSP.

That sounds awful. The story is supposed to get MORE intense as it gets closer to the end.
It's not that bad. I prefer the WoR. Before that, it's your typical FF game. But when you get there, bam, post apocalypse where you have to pick up the pieces of what you once had. Also, it was really interesting to me to see what the characters where up to once you found them again. Also it was really fun to follow clues to find a character you cared about or liked.

VI comes out in like 5 days. I really want it and all. BUT, I don't have V or IV yet. Here's the deal.
I was going to buy IV after I bought III. But when V came out, IV completely dissapeared. So far, I have yet to see a copy anywhere. It's like they dissapeared.
So, now I want VI, but should I buy V, also? I mean, I haven't exactly been looking for IV hard or anything, but it dissapeared from Gamestop's site, too. I'm worried that if I don't get V now, I won't have a second chance.

Yeah, it's a neat trick, and it makes sense. I mean, shit, the world just ended! So you've gotta hobble your group back together, get some new shit, and rally towards the end.
It's pretty involving on the first playthrough, where you probably don't worry too much about getting everything. But the second time, it's more of a "oh, right, the momentum is gone and I have to figure everything out for myself."
Like I said, it's a lot of fun, and in many ways it's at that point that the game takes a decidedly un-JRPG turn, as many of the rest of the game becomes open ended. There's a lot to do, but you don't have to do a lot of it to win the game. Still, most of it ends up being treasure hunts with the occasional snippet of story.
For those of you who haven't played it, don't consult a faq or guide on your first way through. You can figure out a lot just by exploring and it's FAR more entertaining that way. You feel like you're really exploring a bombed out world, and things you were used to or wanted to check out in the past are changed or gone or moved.
One of my proudest gaming moments of my youth was when I discovered Gogo on accident. One of those "hmm, I wonder what happens if..." moments.

Gah.
Too late; Final Fantasy V is also gone from EBStop's websites.
Luckily, there's more than one games retailer on the internet.
Amazon! And you save over $10 thanks to Office Depot's discount
I hope they didn't take out the Genji Glove you can get really early in the game, though. That would make me sadface.
You mean [spoiler:9346024f47]where Terra tells Banon she doesn't want to help? I don't see why they would take that out.[/spoiler:9346024f47]
I don't see why they would either.
But they might.
And then I won't have my early Genji Glove.
And it'll be sad.
Why don't we just randomly make up parts of the game they could leave out to worry about
I hear they cut the ending.
[spoiler:9346024f47]Also, I hear they edited the scene with Celes in the jail. Though that could be false.[/spoiler:9346024f47]
For real, though, my worry was mostly from a game balance perspective. A Genji Glove that early does kinda make the ensuing hilarity ridiculously easy.

You haven't played FF6 until you jumped first. When you're halfway through the WoR and you're like "oh shit..." That's a great moment
And I think my local Wal-Mart still has V, so I might pick it up tomorrow before I lose my chance.
Most local EBStops have V in stock still... went down to $29.99. I know my store has 11 copies... we've actually sent some to other stores.

Didn't realise it was coming out so soon. Totally pumped.
Also, I thought Banon gave you the other item - the one that lets you have one weapon in TWO hands? Not half as cool as the Genji.
