Xbox Silver to Gold -- Question ...

So my brother's birthday was last Saturday and as a week long hint I made him think we was get a Xbox 360 (that's what old brother's do). So he signed up for a silver account on Xbox.com. Well Saturday morning comes and he get's his 12 Month Gold Membership, from which he redeems online.

Then later on in the afternoon he get's his oXbox (like I'm going to $300 on my younger brother). Well first he doesn't have a credit card so I give him mine to upgrade his account. So when he goes to Account Recovery he is all set. But when he logs into any games it will Not Connect. But when we test the Network Settings it connects to Xbox Live. So then I try my account and I work just fine.

So we conclude it has to do with something with his gamertag. But he can connect just fine on my 360. So since Nov 1 we have been on the line with Xbox to no avail. As of today they have decided to take our suggestion and just start a new account by cancelling the original one and make a whole nother account. But instead of giving us another activation code they will let us know if they can do it after 5-10 buisness days. And that is after they decided to cancel the account.

Suggestions ...?

MAX: Liz I really, really wish that this could be something, you know, more. But it can't. We're just...

LIZ: Different.

I'm having the exact same problem. Apparently it's due to the fact that the contact information for the account is erroneous (wrong country set, etc.). Thing is, if your information is incorrect it actually blocks you from accessing the account management part of Xbox Live.

I can't even look at his friends list or account management. But again it works fine on the 360.

One morning befroe work, I decided to download all the Rock Band content. ( Back in July) I bought ALOT of MS points and did all the downloading. I had some points leftover. Everything was cool. Shut down the machine and went to work

I came home in the afternoon to find my XBOX gold had been switched to XBOX Silver. This is after paying two years on the account with no problems. I call support and she tells me she does not know or understand, but just go ahead and start up a new Gold membership. OK. I did. Next Day I was locked out and my MS points were all gone. Called 'em again. Oh sir, your billing info does not match your contact info. I told her it had been that way for two years with no problem. She didn't care. I also told her that the one address is my billing address on my credit card and the contact address is my MAILING address. Didn't care. So I changed it...she said it would be three days before I could do anything with my account. When I questioned why the first woman did not tell me all this, she had no idea. Fine...

FIVE DAYS LATER...nothing, I call back and get a guy. he looks at my account and says the REAl reason is becuase you bought a suspicous amount of MS points in one sitting through the credit card. I informed him that I was a 35 year old man who owned that CC and all the stuff was legit. He tells me great, but that is why they locked my account. Fix it. They did. Unlocked my account...but no remaining MS points. I called and argued with them several times...after a month...nothing. So before one of my next calls. I am playing COD and my machine RRoD....DONE.

Got rid of the majority of the games, except for the exclusives. Cancelled my account. Now I still play ( i mostly play my PS3 now), but I will not support MS in any way. Games will be bought at pawn shops and I will never pay for any of thier DLC.

be careful when dealing with them, they will take your money and run...

    And my suggestion...get a PS3 :)

To be honest parsecs, it is most likely company policy to judge suspicious amounts of ms points as theft, and then promptly switch it to silver, take out all the ms points so the "culprit" cannot use them again, then lock the account unless given further confirmation.

I mean, you must of bought A LOT of points to trigger credit card theft suspicion. But I digress...

On the original problem, I am not completely sure that an account created and upgraded online can work with the actual oxbox, but I may be mistaken
