Besides that prick Fawkes refusing to help out, there doesn't seem to be any reason for someone to be locked inside when activating the purifier. I just did it again but sent Lyons in instead. There's plenty of time after she enters the code for her to exit, then close up the airlock. I don't get why the airlock needs to be sealed to enter the code. I also don't really get how the radiation braches that inner section of the chamber but not any of the rest. The whole thing is setup to either martyr yourself or be an ass.
woah how did you get a mutant to chill with you? PC mod? I want one! I also got a find me a ripper. I've basically allowed my melee/unarmed character to go ahead and use a Rifle in certain situations but no VATS. Vats is for melee only.
And make the Shiskebab, the Ripper is too loud and prevents any sneaking.
I would've liked the ability to choose to follow paths that turn you into a ghoul or super mutant. The story seems too built around youbeing the norm but maybe next game. Its not something I'd probably follow to the end because I'd have trouble relating to the character but it'd be a nice touch.

I also thought it was uneeded for dear old dad to blow up himself. I was right there, Dogmeat and I could have fucking chewed some throats.
Do you know what's even more infuriating about that damned ending?
Before Lyons asks who will turn it on, you can run inside, with Fawkes, get him to wait, then when you get locked inside he'll be RIGHT FUCKING THERE BESIDES YOU as you sacrifice yourself. What a twat.
And who was the android? Spoiler it for other people of course. I just handed the item over.
Harkness - the guard at the entrance of Rivet City. If you complete the quest out and let him know he is the android, he gives you his plasma rifle.
Hmm...while giving Zimmer the item ends the quest, it odes seem kind of bogus that with the info I'd already gathered I couldn't find out his identity from the doc in the bow of hte boat.

get him to wait in there nothing, that guy followed me in there!
Last night I started exploring Vault 108 while drunk, I got so freaked out that I had to quit the game
You mean 106?
You know, I've played a lot of spooky games before, but that place genuinely creeped me out big time. First time I went in I honestly thought the game was glitching out a little with the stuff that I was seeing. Then as I got deeper I started to realise that no, this place has been laced with something and it's gently driving my character insane.
I couldn't leave there fast enough once I'd explored what I could.

It's hard to believe they couldn't have set it up so as it could be activated remotely as well.
On another note, how hard would it be for Bethesda to 'inject' new quests into the game via way of DLC?

Harkness - the guard at the entrance of Rivet City. If you complete the quest out and let him know he is the android, he gives you his plasma rifle.
If you talk to him, offer to kill Zimmer and then turn him over to Zimmer instead, you get both the rifle and the wired reflexes perk. Win-Win. Well, for everyone but Harkness.
Is it just me, or does the plasma rifle suck in any non-VATS combat? It seems to take forever to get to the target if I just aim and shoot.

Awww man you get a perk? Damn!
Yeah. It ups your AP available in VATS or somesuch I think. I'd have to check, and the wife is playing Fable right now.

It's got clones that say their collective name... fucked up. Though I was largely disappointed by it today when I finished exploring... Weren't any computers or anything to explain what went wrong with their cloning experiment - though I did find it rather interesting that the Female Dorms had been barricaded.

Well...I dealt with the Family...
Ended up killing them all except Ian. Then I found out their story. I feel like such an asshole. I thought the dialogue choice saying I had the letter would just start a combat .

They are actually pretty decent guys, if only a little nuts, so please feel ashamed now!
I'm headed out to find my dad in the vault near Evergreen Mills. That's the place with all the Raiders and the Behemoth, right?
Basically, should I bring my Fat Man?
No. You should bring a couple stealth boys. The most awesome way to do Evergreen Mills is this:
Sneak in using a Stealth Boy (watch out for mines near the train cars) and get to the Behemoth cage. Throw a grenade at the power generator and open the cage. Sneak/Run away and watch about 10 raiders vs one behemoth.
Also a question from me:
Uncle Roe mentioned Crow might've been victim of fowl play. Do I need to find him or is this just a case of some random AI killing a trader?

Cannibals are cannibals, and they destroyed a community's livestock in a land where fertile ground crops aren't even much of an option. Do not be swayed, they're probably as guilty as raiders of unspeakable horror, with perhaps the exception of the leader--assuming he didn't just sweet talk you. You did the right thing.

Thinking about it... I wonder what they give the brahmin to eat; there's obviously no grass or anything so do they just make do with air and irradiated water?
anyone know what merchant/scavenger has the highest repair skill in the wasteland?

I find that the dungeon crawls in this game are a lot more suspenseful, since I can't always see an enemy from across the map and run away if I need to. To retreat, I risk getting trapped in a dead end, and I also have to turn around to defend myself.
Feral ghouls are much less scary if you have plenty of shotgun shells.

It took 7 missiles, around 20 grenades and two clips of my chinese rifle to take down that behemoth. Fatman is definately the way to go.
I dropped the first one (at the GNR studios) with the Fatman from the fountain. I killed the second one I've seen (in the capital building) with a missile launcher I'd picked up, since I don't have the Strength to be carrying a Fatman around all the time. Luckily, he'd been killing Talon Mercs so he was hurting pretty bad.
Looks like I need to fast transit back to Megaton and grab either the missile launcher or the Fatman. Is there any reason I can't just shoot the power-thingy with a missile from a long ways away? Or do I have to be physically in the camp to do it?

Combat Shotguns rule in ghoul infested territory. I've got over 500 shells for it, more every time I open a filling cabinet seems like.
Dear God, what do I do about ammo in this game? I started clearing out the ants' nest in the subway, but I ran out of ammo, and there doesn't seem to be any way to get more. Moira can go fuck herself, as she doesn't have any ammo I can use, so short of venturing to another town or running into a wasteland trader (and I have no idea where they are), I'm completely screwed.

Ammo problems are common at the beginning of the game. If you're in Grayditch already, you can check the houses in the area. There are a few weapons and a decent amount of ammunition around there. If you're feeling ballsy you can check out the Alaska monument and such in DC. Lots of Ammo down there. Basically, just wander around until you find something with a door that leads to a loading screen. Then fire up your Pip Boy light and search the area.
It's rough going at first. I ran into the same problem at around level 7. Now I'm level 11 and I'm flush with ammo for everything, including guns I don't have yet.
Is luck involved in ammo? I've got the scrounger perk but I tend to find bucket loads of 5mm and stuff for the chinese pistol which is absolutely fucking useless to me. But when I do find shotgun shells I do find a lot like 29 or so.

Well, that's easy to explain. Have you ever seen that episode of Red Dwarf where they visit Rimmerworld? *shudder*

I think Luck has something to do with it, but I'm not sure. .32 ammo (for the chinese pistol) also works in the Hunting Rifle, which should probably be your running around gun until you get Lincoln's Repeater.
My luck is 5, I've got the scrounger perk and I can hardly open a desk or box without ammo flying at me. 5mm does seem to be prominently featured, but I've also got a shitload of shotgun shells, 5.56 ammo and .44 mags.
anyone know what merchant/scavenger has the highest repair skill in the wasteland?
Learn repair one your own
it is really the only must have skill
It doesn't work for some items, though, right? Some of the uniques are only repairable through traders.
All unique items are special versions of a regular weapon (i.e. "Jack" is a special Ripper). In every case, you can repair (with sufficient skill) the unique version of the weapon with the non-unique version (i.e. consume Rippers to repair Jack).

yeah my repair is around 80, but I want to repair stuff like shiskabab and Fisto and all that to a respectable % without having to find/build another one.
edit: also, do laser weapons just do crap damage or is there something I'm missing about them? I have a laser rifle that does 16 damage with around 40 points in energy weapons while my comabats shotguns and 10mm sub machine guns and all that do 20-30 with no points in small arms. Kinda annoying : /
