Here's a summary of the plot:
A professor of folklore opens a forbidden scroll and becomes possessed by the ancient Japanese demons of Thunder and Lightning, who seek to return and dominate our world. The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense sends Hellboy and a team of agents to investigate, but when Hellboy picks up a samurai sword, he literally disappears into a weird wonderland of Japanese legends, ghosts and monsters.
Meanwhile, BPRD agents Kate Corrigan and Russell Thorne are on the trail of the possessed professor to bring Hellboy back.
doug jones was in the movie under the prosthetics, but didn't do the voice of abe
that was niles
I had no idea.
Wonder how he'll make Abe sound. In the preview video that was shown at Comic-Con I vaugley remeber someone mentioning that the voice-actor was temporary and would be changed, so that video may not be an indicator.

I thought it was more of a nose stud than a ring. Surely I'm not the only one that's seen these.
Anyway, the movie was excellent. The animation was crisp and fluid, the story was interesting, and all of the characters were great. Ron Perlman gave a fantastic performance, as usual- he did a fantastic job portraying Hellboy: light hearted and jaded about what he does, but sensitive enough to tell dangerous and delicate situations and to treat them accordingly.
On that note- Hellboy is a relatively unknown property to me. I've seen the movie, and read some of the comics online (on the Playboy website, believe it or not), but I'm not as immersed in the world as some people here are. That being said: is Hellboy always so unflappable? The guy sounded like he sees this kind of thing every goddamn day of the week. Which he probably does, but I wonder if the comics convey a similar tone.
Also there was romantic tension all over the place.

Seriously.
Besides Ron Pearlmen as Hellboy again. You miss it and I won't miss you. With a truck.
