Gaming isn't just a simple way to pass time nowadays, for some people it is a way of life. You only have to look at international competitions such as the WCG, MLG and EVO or the various speed runs of classic games or the vast amount of Expert Guitar Hero/Rock Band clips at YouTube. I have a huge amount of respect for people putting that much dedication into a video game and can't help but watch these in awe:
Most of these showcases are impossible for us mortals. Obviously, your personal accomplisments can be anything, from beating Super Mario Bros. when you were 6 or beating Super Metroid in under an hour.
One of my proudest gaming moments were when I S-ranked Advance Wars on Hard (just barely), beating F-Zero GX's story mode missions on Very Hard (ch. 9 can fuck off) and beating Ready Steady Go in Ouendan on Hard (cheer girls can fuck off). One of these days I'm going to make it my mission to beat the last song in Ouendan 2 on Hard. Also, Through the Fire and Flames on Hard.
I found all the agility orbs in Crackdown without a guide before they made it easier with the patch.
There are others, but that's the only one that really sticks in my mind. I also have all of my achievements in Halo 3 perfectly legit without being in a game where someone's like 'hey, let's farm achievements'.

I rarely do much in terms of super amazing video game achievements.
Probably the biggest one was beating KH2 only fighting the exact necessary battles, which is a lot lower then the amount you'd normally fight in the game. And boss fights don't give EXP.
Yeah, beat the game at around level 30 on Proud Mode.
As of today, right now I am very proud to have beaten EBA on 2-star difficulty.
Now I'm working on Hard and despite kicking my butt on a few songs, it's still so much fun!!!! Slower songs are a pain though because if you mess up just a few times it's too slow to recover before your bar drops.

Beating Vagrant story. Then, playing through again (3 or 4 more times) and completing a set of all weapon types with the highest possible stats.
Honestly that Ikaruga video was probably incredible but I have no idea what was even going on.
Have you played Ikaruga? If not, it's a shooting game in which all enemies and projectiles are either black/red or white/blue and you can switch the color of your own ship. When you're white, white projectiles are absorbed and only black projectiles can kill you; and when you're black, black projectiles are absorbed and only white projectiles can kill you. It takes a tremendous amount of mental acuity simply to beat the game, as the levels (and especially the bosses) features wave after wave of projectiles alternating colors rapidly.
The video showed someone playing two ships at once, and kicking ass. Kicking ass at Ikaruga is a feat in itself, but it's mind-boggling to see someone do so well piloting two ships.
I have three accomplishments I'm particularly proud of:
1. I beat the Xbox port of Metal Slug 3. Not the Xbox Live Arcade version, but the Oxbox version. This version was different from the arcade version, as you could not continue on the spot. Rather, continuing restarted the level. Hence, I had to beat the final level in one go. The maximum number of lives was five, and you could sort of cheat by switching to the second player controller mid-round. That may sound pretty cheap, and perhaps not even something to be proud of, but I think anyone who has played the final level of Metal Slug 3 will acknowledge that beating it in ten lives is pretty impressive.
2. I beat all 56 challenge rooms in Bionic Commando: Rearmed. The last one took me over three hours of continual playing, but once I beat it I ranked in at 17th overall. I'm much lower now, but I'm still very proud of myself for actually completing those challenges. Secret challenges can go fuck themselves, however.
3. I beat Ninja Gaiden Black on Master Ninja difficulty. Certainly not an impossible task, but I'm still happy with it. I would have given it another try, but my Xbox's harddrive was wiped shortly thereafter. I was quite discouraged after that.
I think I mentioned this in the last thread we had like this, but I did a solo run of Phantasy Star II. It was time consuming and arduous, but I'm glad I did it.

Really hard at times, but really fun.

My greatest achievement was beating Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon in one sitting because I didn't have an N64 memory card.
