I just got ouenden today from goozex! So awesome! I paid 750 points for it, which is similar to $37.50. Compared to what I have seen this go for to import, and how many points I have lying around, I think I got an awesome deal! Its in mint condition too!
So I've been playing Ouenden casually a song or two a night on the easiest difficulty (simply because I want the points I'll need later to move up the ranks) and I've noticed something.. They don't hold back the difficulty at all in this! The first song or two were incredibly easy and slow, but more recently they have really been fast and furious with many hit markers on the screen. I can't wait to get into the more difficult levels if it gets like this on easy!
You're impressed by the difficulty... and you haven't yet experienced Canned Heat?
Heh. You know nothing of difficulty yet, young grasshopper.
Umm, I've beaten every song on every difficulty on EBA. And yes, I hate Canned Heat. I was impressed with how quickly things moved up from stupid easy to actually interesting on Ouenden on the easiest difficulty.

Oh... you said Ouenden. Shit. I need coffee.
Yeah, Ouenden is awesome too and damn challenging.

I'll have the agents bring some over to you, in song!
Yes, it's not particularly hard like JJF hard, it's just completely different from every other song you've been playing up to that point. So it throws you off.
Canned heat is not really hard, it's just off-beat. The 2 last songs are a lot harder.
You damn yankees have no rhythm, god.
And the Ouendans are about as hard as EBA, IMO.
Ouendan (the first) has a somewhat faster difficulty ramping in the early stages compared to EBA, and EBA doesn't have anything like the rapid jumps across the screen in Ouendan which are very disconcerting until you get used to them.
I've beaten the easiest mode in Ouenden and I plowed through the second difficulty in about an hour. My first failure of a song was the huge mouse fight, then I passed the police officers/robots, and then I failed Ready, Steady, Go about 3 times before I decided I should probably stop playing and get some work done around the house.
I love these games! Can't wait to play the third difficulty.

You won't get a significant amount of points on the lower two difficulties. If you want to move up in the overall ranking, you should really only focus on the higher 2 difficulty modes until you've full-comboed and S-ranked every song that you can.
This applies for all 3 games. On Ouendan 2, you should be playing with Hidden mode on as well.
Apparently, the Japanese are now using cheerleading squads to pump up students who are going out and seeking a job. Which is exactly the same as the first scenario in Ouendan 2.
If we had cheerleaders helping out everyone who seek jobs, we'd have this recession licked in no time.
So I was spurred on to continue my quest to beat Ouenden 1 when Goozex matched me up for Ouenden 2 (I love Goozex!).
I beat the last difficulty before cheergirls yesterday (beat Ready Steady Go on my second try!) and then started playing the cheergirls. WOW. It is absolutely evil that they made the hit markers that small... I had forgotten that they did that until the first song started and I missed the first marker because it was so small. Oi! But onward! I want to beat through the cheergirls before starting Ouenden 2, but we'll see how long that lasts.

Ouendan are real, and of course the Female cheerleaders in Japan, when I went there I saw them a couple of times at sports events, parades, festivals and school events.

Once you get use to it it will feel odd going back to slow big circles in Ouendan 2.
I too started playing Ouendan 1 and EBA again, though I think my bottom screen has developed a dead zone like my first DS did, making it impossible to hit some notes, meaning death.
Still unlocked Cheer mode again in both games. Onto Ouendan 2...eventually.
The covers in EBA have really grown on me. I like the music in Ouendan, but can rarely listen to them without thinking that I'd rather hear the original. Not so with EBA, with the exception of JJF, which is still a decent cover but nothing compared to the original.
Well, I've beaten cheer mode before in Ouendan, just never EBA. I lost my ouendan cart awhile back, but a buddy of mine just happend to have two (bought one for his ex-girlfriend to play against) so I went about on a rhythm game kick.
Also going through this thread made me realize that I'd never failed a single section of the sad songs...
Especially not the one in Ouendan 1, which I got a A on the first time I played it and a perfect S every other time. Hell I can get an A with a busted touch screen!
You're the Inspiration is the much better heartstring tingling song, it can get me misty after the 200th play just as easily as the first.
Yeah, I hate failing any part of those songs. And apparently you have a much better sense of timing than I do to be getting S scores. I think I've only ever gotten 1 or maybe 2 S scores. I generally mess up somewhere so I get an A or B.
I just plowed through the cheerleader difficulty of Ouenden 1 today. Beat each song on the first or second try with 1 exception (police vs. robots). I'm on RSG now, which I made it halfway through before failing due to getting 100s instead of 500s. Oi! I have other things to do tonight so I had to put it down before I spend any more time on it. Perhaps when I'm done what I have to do I will pick it back up. Once I beat RSG I can move on to Ouenden 2, which is sitting there, taunting me.
I think "Your My Inspiration" pulls my heartstrings more because there's a kid involved and her daddy, and I'm a daddy now..
Are there any youtube videos (or even just a site) that has the english translations of the Ouenden situations? I'm curious what they are saying even though I can pick up the general idea of what they are trying to accomplish.
So, I'm curious what people think of Ouenden 2 compared to the first one. I had a lot of fun with the original. Well, except for the last song which took me forever to finish. However I've heard so little about the second one.

Haha! I have beaten Ouenden 1! Took 6 tries to beat RSG. I sat down to try it one time before I had to start packing for a trip this weekend and got it!

Ouendan 2 has worse music but better charts, imo.
Ok, well it doesn't sound like a must buy. Maybe I'll look for a cheaper copy online or just wait rather than spending the $50 to get it now.

I think everyone is in universal agreement that the sad song sucked in 2 at least. The story was so stupid compared to the other sad songs, especially EBA. It also wasn't a very good song and it suffered from being so slow that your health was always draining way too fast.

Which is even cooler when you use the Electric Bat Guitar in-game.

I haven't gotten to it on Hard Rock yet, but it didn't seem especially hard on 3 stars.

Many people find it hard because for most of the song, the targets come on the UPbeat, not the downbeat.

Also, the bar drops way too fast in RSG. :P

Not the best source, but not bad.
Glad I already beat it on all the difficulties..

You mean you beat RSG on Cheerleader, right?
If it weren't for Monkey Magic, it'd be better than the first game in pretty much every possible category.
