I first became familiar with Ouendan through the soundtrack. The second one just didn't work for me.

I think everyone is in universal agreement that the sad song sucked in 2 at least. The story was so stupid compared to the other sad songs, especially EBA. It also wasn't a very good song and it suffered from being so slow that your health was always draining way too fast.

    What?
Ouendan 1's sad story was comically bad. From the terribly animated walking of steps, to the magical hand typing on a keyboard. It had the stupidest premise of the three. The other two were basically "draw strength, but move on, from the past," keeping actual ghostly happenings to a minimum. 1 was "I'll just come back and communicate to my love by using my magical hand to type on a keyboard."

The song itself was marred by horrible screeching trying to pass off as singing. Right above Monkey Magic for worst song I've ever heard.

It is pretty much the worst experience I have ever had in a video game. I have played Beyond the Beyond to completion.

The story in the first game was kind of dumb but it least it tried to be sad. Ouendan 2's song wasn't sad in any way to me. Maybe EBA made my standards a bit higher with a little girl waking up from a nightmare of her father deserting her.

The song itself is also just personal opinion but at least I can remember what gender the singer for the first game's song was. I honestly can't remember if a man or woman sang the song for 2. It's that forgettable to me. The only thing I can remember is failing it because they wouldn't give me any notes to hit and when they finally did I would fail if it was anything less than a perfect hit.

The problem with Ouendan 2's token sad song is that the Glamorous Sky stage would've done it better with some minor adjustments.

Also, you can S-rank it and still get an X on every scene:

Glamourous Skies is a fantastic song. And so is Monkey Magic, but only in a 'so bad it's good' kind of way.

You mean you beat RSG on Cheerleader, right?

    Yes, cheerleader.

I've gone through the easiest difficulty and I'm almost through the next difficulty of Ouenden 2 now. I agree with most everyone in that the "sad" song in Ouenden 2 isn't as sad as the other two. Though maybe it's because I'm a guy and I'm not as close to my sister. My wife would probably think it was the sadder of the two. EBA's definitely takes the cake though as the saddest of them all.

I'm trying to think of what my favorite songs would be from each, and I'm not sure. September is a lot of fun, so that is definitely in the runnings for EBA. Ouenden I really don't know. RSG was pretty good, though a bit intense to just play for fun. Since I haven't gotten to the cheerleaders I can't really say anything for Ouenden 2, but my favorite scenario so far is the guys building the robot to fight the giant cat. I still need to look up translations for the stories though because there are a few where pictures don't even tell you enough as to what you are doing. The kid wetting the bed is pretty funny though. I love the "not Mario" and "not Luigi" plumbers. :D

As far as Ouenden 2 being a "must buy"? If you enjoy the games, buy it. :)

It's pretty clear to me that Samurai Blue is the best song in Ouendan 2 and also one of the greatest songs ever. It also has my favorite stage in that game.

I loved Canned Heat in EBA. I also loved the stage, but there's really no debating that Survivor had the most awesome stage.

    Which stage is Samurai Blue?

And yes, Survivor! I can't believe I forgot about that one! It's definitely the best stage. Chart was pretty good too I believe. It's been a while since I've played.

Samurai Blue is one of the bonus stages you have to unlock, so you might not have gotten it yet. The stage has a blue guy on a surf board trying to deliver a txt message. The song is pretty cool/catchy and the only english part is the part where they say "samurai blue" so it's pretty memorable.

to add to the favorites discussion:
Ouendan 1: One Night Carnival (violinist battling diarhea demons)
EBA: September/Canned Heat tie (everything else seemed pretty generic, definitely my least favorite of the 3 games)
    Ouendan2: Bambina (bed wetting)

I think I liked the stages and songs with more syncopation, which is why EBA was a little underwhelming since most of the songs were straightforward pop songs. For whatever reason I've never felt the need to go back and replay/S-rank EBA like I did with both the Ouendan games.

Ouenden 1 did not have any bonus songs, correct? I never unlocked anything that I know of, but I still don't know my way around the menus except for the basics.

Ouenden 2 I have unlocked the first song I guess, with the stuffed monkey.

Yeah, there's two more bonus songs in Ouendan 2, and the last one is easily my favorite song/stage in the game.

It's fantastic. Not only is the egypt themed version better than the original, the level is really fun and decently challenging on the hardest setting.

God. I loved all the games. But mostly the two Japanese ones. Though EBA was awesome too.

Man, I really want a new game. I don't care if it's American or Japanese.

The Ouendan games had some fuck awesome music. I have all of it. And it's all awesome.

I lost my Ouendan 2. I lost it. I don't know where it is! And I'm sad! :( It could be anywhere. Now I'm sad as a sad puppy. So I need a new game to cheer me up again.

COME ON OUENDAN 3! OR HELL, ELITE BEAT AGENTS 2! I DON'T CARE!
