Oh, right, PS1. I was under the impression it didn't even play PS1 games. Neat to know.

But then the question becomes memory. Doesn't matter to me though, played through MGS without saving. Shitty score but fun none the less.

Memory cards are a non-issue on the PS3, you just tell the system to create one...it's all done with software.

I should not have to recite the forum rules but anyone mentioning a forbidden technique will get what they have coming. If you think it might get you jailed or banned for mentioning something questionable, don't mention it at all.

    Thanks, Dad.

I don't see what the point of this is seeing as someone already has ignored it and gotten banned.

The pipe is very clearly full of awesome.

ED : and you can get $50 worth of Goozex points for that copy of Final Fantasy VII PS1. The quality doesn't matter, though obviously a case and manual will be easier to move. I lost the manual and successfully traded it, and I wouldn't have gotten nearly as much on eBay. Especially since the case was the green-band GH version.

This is tempting. I'll likely never play FFVII again, but I'm sure I can find something nice on Goozex for that amount.

All the good stuff. Games only go up to 1000 points (which is FF7's going rate), even brand new ones. If you're quick on the request list and/or patient, you can get virtually anything.

I bought FF7 on the PC years ago. Has anyone modded it to work with a gamepad yet? The default setup is one of the worst keybinding jobs EVER, it was like arrow keys and the keypad, that's it. It even came with a little overlay thing that you could put on your keyboard over the keypad so you could figure out what the fuck you were doing.

    Why I Hate Multi-Disc PS1 RPGS:

I have two copies of FF7 that are both missing disc 1 so it's not even like I can combine them into one good copy. What am I supposed to do with the other discs!? I could get a cool 2k on Goozex if it weren't for those stupid discs...

Have you tried using a combination of JoyToKey and a Sixaxis controller? If not, I'll give it a shot tomorrow and see if it works.

Copy 1 I got from EB with a messed up disc 1 (no scratches, but it freezes at the cutscene where the Tiny Brono crashes), copy 2 I got from someone when I bought my good copy of FF7 (he threw the extra disc 2 and 3 in there and said he'd look for the disc 1, but never got back to me) :(

If they were mine from the start they'd be in pristine condition.

If there's some way to fix the disc that freezes I'd be all over it, but my guess is there was an error in the writing of the disc so I doubt I can do anything.

What's so bad about the Greatest Hits version that it'd be worth less than the original version? They had to sell a million copies or something like that, so there's bound to be quite a few of either, and I don't recall any fancy patches or anything to GH versions (...which I would think would make the GH the better version if it did), so what's the deal?

I've kept my discs...although some of that stuff is on its way to the supposed 25-year lifespan of the medium. I also have saves from all over the place, if my memory cards haven't crapped out on me yet...I haven't used my playstation for months.

People are aware that you can re-bind all the controls to whatever keys you want, right? It's there in the config menu. Joy2Key or whatever should sort the rest - still a shame there wasn't mouse support for menus, though.

My Playstation and games are far away at the moment, but I think the meteor is on the packaging somewhere. Maybe I'm just remembering the title screen. Either way, early on I remember browsing a blockbuster and looking at it thinking "that game looks retarded", and then I read the manual from a friend's version on the school bus and as all "I want to play that"...I'm not really sure why (maybe I just had some subconscious love of materia, minigames, and status effects.

Eh FF7 PC had a few issues that made it slightly less awesome than the PS1 version. When I played it all timers were inexplicably slowed. So, for that one weapon that you're supposed to kill in 10 minutes or have the underwater materia, I ended up being able to leisurely kill him over ~40 minutes using no materia.

Back in the day, the game would lock up on every CGI cutscene. I'd have to open and close the tray a dozen times and pray that it loaded.

Also, all the minigames had looooow framerates. The game proper ran fine, though. I ditched the PC version when I got a ps2. A mistake, in hindsight.

    Man, what an awesome game.

Not to mention when the game is run on XP the cut scenes play upside down or sideways and sometimes have no sound.

FF7 is only worth a lot if you have the pre-greatest hits version.

Apparently even the Greatest Hits version is worth quite a bit now, at least according to the amazon prices.
$249.99 for a new greatest hits copy. I hate "shrewd" businessmans on online sites who charge outrageous prices for video games and the people who buy them from said businessmans. Prices for some games are just ludicrous.

Also, I can't even believe this is the first line of the official description on ebay.

Man, I actually busted out my copy of FFVII just a week ago. I needed something to do while Microsoft fixed my Red Ring.

Go figure, the game wont run on my PS2, so I had to actually pull out my PS1 to play it. My PS1 (and its memory cards) all still work since purchased day 1 way back when. Yet my PS2 requires alcohol on the lense almost on a monthly basis.

My copy of FFVII runs great even. The only thing I noticed as a problem, is that some of the really early FMVs have the sound hiccup every 3 seconds or so. Really, just the Intro FMV, and jumping on the train after the No.1 reactor blows.

I just got to Disc 3 last night with no other problems other than that. This is also an original copy, non of that GH stuff.

I tried the PC version, several things bothered me about it. Namely, every field model has a mouth that stays perminently open. Also, Some of the dialogue was rewritten; basically Barret was swearing less. I never played the PC version past the No.5 reactor.

Looking to the future if they ever do remake FFVII, a whole lot of script will need to be rewritten. Playing thru the game again, you can tell that when the game was in its early stages, the characters didn't really have much of a personality. Its like Square wasn't sure where they wanted each character to go. Cloud being the worst at this. He goes from goofy, to an asshole, to gender-confused, to quirky, to childish, to asshole again, to angsty, to cool guy.
Now, if they wanted to keep him quirky and energetic in the early game and write it off that its more Zack's personality than Cloud's, I'm okay with that. Just trim some of his lines, or give them to other people so he's not such an asshole sometimes.
