october turned out to be a concert month for me. The past 4 weeks, I have seen
Gogol Bordello (amazing and crazy energy. I did get beat up in the mosh pit though)
Neil Young (totally worth the drive. The "A Day in the Life" cover at the end alone was worth the ticket)
Bob Dylan (interesting for sure and no where near as terrible as I had heard it would be)
Bedouin Soundclash (terrible, the lead guy wants to be Joe Strummer so badly. However, the opening band, Hey Ocean, was amazing)
The best show I have been to though, without a doubt, was Battles. It was a religious experience
Fuck yes Dropkick Murphys. I've seen them once and Flogging Molly three time, will be four in a month. Dunno if your familiar with them but Street Dogs is along the same lines.
Other then them I haven't been to much lately, going to a Reel Big Fish show in January.
I have still only been to one popular music concert (a couple jazz things at yoshi's, which were excellent, but I was there mostly because of a friend since I don't know that much about jazz (holy shit victor wooten is amazing though))
but that one concert was radiohead, so I'm okay with that

My only problem with Flogging Molly is that they are so tame, I get all relaxed when listening to their stuff. Not my kind of music to jump around and scream with.

I hear Reel Big Fish kick ass in concert, you're a lucky man.

yeah dammit mozart why are you not power metal that is my one problem with you
I had the same opinion prior to seeing them live, those dudes put on one hell of a live show. When I saw them in march I left with no voice and was ready to fall over and sleep on my way back to my car.
Not that I mind the slower stuff, but If I'm in the mood for something quicker and louder they're not normally the first cd I reach for. Also RBF does put on an amazing live show, I saw them a few years ago at the state fair and was very impressed.

radiohead, MGMT and tom waits are my current "pay anything to see" concerts
I am insanely jealous of anyone who has seen radiohead live
Only one's I've been to are Bruce Springsteen, Jon Brion, Kurt Elling, New Orleans Nightcrawlers, and The Brotherhood of Groove. At least those are the only one's I've remembered. I have been to a ton of symphony performances, but those don't really count I think

My voice is gone, just utterly gone.
Also hearing from my left ear, it is still ringing.
Fucking worth it.
If Flogging Molly comes to Knoxville I will definitely check it out.
speaking of the dropkick murphys, I watched the departed again tonight
I still can't watch the scene where jack nicholson fucks up dicaprio's hand
It makes me curious to see you in this neighborhood. And if I can slander my own environment it makes me sad, this... regression. Plus, I don't know if it's beyond some fucking cop prick like Queenan to pull you out of the Staties and send you gift-wrapped to me. I just can't know. I wonder what they do in that particular department anyway.
rammstein put on a damn fine show when i saw them forever ago
and system of a down had a monstrous screen with naked titties floppin' all over the place

the best concert i think i've been to was...
well based purely on how much fun i had, has to be the first time i saw the cure. i met robert smith and the rest of the band, got to be on the radio, and got shit signed. also AFI did a cover of Ziggy Stardust that was awesome. My only regret is that I missed Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Kings of Leon, but whatever.
Oh fuck, i forgot about the Nada Surf show. I have to admit, although i liked them, i didnt go for them. I went for Sea Wolf (who were great), and Nada Surf was just kind of like a bonus. But holy SHIT are they energetic as fuck. They turned Blankest Year, a two minute song, into a 10 minute jam-fest, in which people close to the stage got to get up there and just dance like whiteys. Luckily for me, I WAS ONE OF THOSE WHITEYS.
Based purely on how much i enjoyed the music, has to be Silversun Pickups tied with Bloc Party.
SSPU's opener, Happy Hollows, was fucking so goddamn energetic and great. They've got an EP out and if you like shit like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Strokes, check them out. Silversun was also fucking amazing.
Bloc Party's opener, Final Fantasy, was also fucking awesome, and now i own both of his cds. Owen Pallett is awesome. My only complaint with Bloc Party was that they ONLY played album stuff, which meant no Two More Years, Cain Said to Abel, Staying Fat, Storm and Stress, Always New Depths, Skeleton, Hero, or Flux. Those were all my favorite Bloc Party songs, and the crowd was screaming for Two More Years and they ignored them. Whatever, it was still goddamned AMAZING, and i'm seeing them again in a month for Not So Silent Night along with the Killers, Death Cab, Franz Ferdinand, and Jack's Mannequin.
My full list of concerts is as follows:
Barenaked Ladies
Blue's Traveler
The Cure + AFI
Silversun Pickups + Happy Hollows + Midnight Movies
Nada Surf + Sea Wolf
The Cure + 65daysofstatic
Bloc Party + Smoosh + Final Fantasy

by the way, Dr Ian, is that The Ting tings in your sig? I say this because they are playing at Big day out, i don't really like them either though.
nah, it's Kristen Bell on one of the bonus features in Forgetting Sarah Marshall
I should have guessed really.
She has the the same haircut as the Ting Ting girl has in the Not my Name alternate music video, both the guys have beards.
Furthermore, I find the Ting Tings to be rather boring, not very good lyrics and so you listen to the music, which is just accompanying and so you go back 5to the lyrics, in a perpetual cycle of vague disappointment.
If you bought a tshirt you got a poster, and I definitly bought a tshirt. Problem was though I knew I was going to get crazy, and holding a poster was not going to work out well for me.
Solution, I hid it in the garbage can, I pulled back the bag and stuck it in between the can itself and the bag. Amazingly good hiding spot.
We use to do live music at a friends lancenter on Friday nights. Mixing 12-16 year old anti-social kids with the same age range of emo kids was an odd experience I'm glad we no longer deal with.

yes yes yes
they have one catchy hook each song (that I know) and absolutely nothing else
I kind of want to go to big day out to see neil young and I think pendulum are going to be there? and also to laugh at bullet for my valentine and emo faggots who think they're tough, but I can't really be bothered flying to auckland from dunedin.

Daft Punk
Muse
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Third Eye Blind
Smashing Pumpkins
Cold War Kids
Arcade Fire
Phantom Planet
The Strokes
i guess that pretty much covers people i want to see but aren't or don't already have tickets to go see

Kinda like house shows. House concerts are ridiculous and unbelievable
Gogol Bordello (amazing and crazy energy. I did get beat up in the mosh pit though)

DUUUU HASSSSTTT
DUUU HAAAAAST MEEEEE
I hope it was one of the crimson and black ones, if it was anything else you made a grave mistake.
I really wish I had not sold my DS but I had not picked it up in like 4 or 5 months. I guess I will have to buy another one eventually.
nah, it's Kristen Bell on one of the bonus features in Forgetting Sarah Marshall
O god the Ting Tings are arglghgl but I have had "Thats Not My Name" stuck in my head for so long
FUCK YOU ORIK

I like your taste in music, vorus
