What the shit?! Flying Necros? I'm guessing this is why playing without sound is a really bad idea. Finished the game and did not notice anything flying at all. Dammit.
Priority should always be to blast the ever-living fuck out of infectors when you see them then stomp those motherfuckers into oblivion even when they're dead just to make sure.
I have been stomping EVERYTHING after the 2nd time a necro faked dead and I realized the first time wasn't just a scripted scare.

Damn it.
I was happy yesterday because I finally received my copy of Dead Space Extraction (recap on story: me gave son a wii for his birthday, me bought DSE on blackfriday on amazon.com).
anyway, it was late last nigh, I put the game in and start playing the first missing. Just when the shooting start to happen, I start to feel sick. sick as in Motion sickness. After 5 more minutes, I had to stop.
DAMN IT! I hope it was just a random occurance, that I was tired and it was late because I want to play that game. I'm a huge fan of the first game on 360 and bought this on the Wii so I could get more of the Dead Space Universe... It's been a very, very long time since I ever had motion sickness in a game. In fact, I think it was Jet Set Radio Future way back on the Xbox days (such a tragery that I couldn't play that game properly because of this).
Anyone else got this problem with DeadSpace Extraction?

In all fairness -- Rule #1 is "Stomp of the fuck out of everything.... every. thing."

I didn't have that myself, but there is a graphics option for "Camera Shake" with a slider to turn it up or down. There is a lot of rockin' and rollin', so turning that down might help you stomach the game. Definitely try it—I really dug Extraction a lot.

Oh god, the weird thing about this was that my first time through the game, I never had this happen.
So it scared the everloving shit out of me the first time this happened on my second run-through.
Easily the best and most unsettling thing in the entire game is this randomness.
Now that I know that:
-Lights going out may mean nothing.
-Sounds may mean nothing.
-SHADOWS may just be a necro passing by, not interested in me.
-DEAD MAY NOT MEAN DEAD.
My whole world is rocked. They literally made it so there's very few sure ways to tell if some shit is going down.

While I think the armor design looks awesome, it's not as well sensical as the first game. In the first game it was in strip plating across your torso and limbs with small gaps so that you'd keep as full a range of motion as possible while retaining a high level of protection. Here it just looks like a couple of solid slabs of metal slapped onto his torso which will pretty much paralyze torso movement. No big deal though, I can suspend my disbelief on something that minor.
So, uh, how are they going to justify Isaac using mining tools when he is "calling the shots" and taking it to the necromorphs?
Because they have proven to be most effective against them? Regular guns didn't seem to help "those" soldiers much if you catch my drift. I wouldn't be surprised if they weaved that into the game somehow mentioning that these tools and makeshift weapons have proven more effective than conventional firearms and thus become standard outfitting when dealing with Necromorphs.
Well look at those rocket boots. How about a rocket stomp? 8-)
Looks like the thrusters are facing the wrong way for that. I was thinking more along the lines that those are magnetic boots, and you just upgrade the hardware to allow it to really slam down hard on metal surfaces. Which was pretty much everywhere.

You misunderstand, by rocket stomp I mean a flaming burning stomp, not a thrust assisted stomp.
Picked this up on the 5 dollar deal on steam a while back. Is this game really unbearable to control without a 360 controller?
make sure to deactivate V-sync...
Mouse control makes... certain... sections of the game far more pleasant, where before they were apparently rage inducing.

Vsync off, D3DOverrider tool from Rivatuner running, and then the mouse controls are great. I played Dead Space this way and it's like playing two different games.
That being said, I originally played Dead Space on the 360 and had no problem with the controls. I'd still rather have the properly functioning mouse controls, though.
it's a new enemy. it turns dead bodies in to black, stronger necromorphs. however, if the bodies have no limbs, it can't do it (or it makes a very powerless necro), so for the rest of the game you will be stomping on dead bodies just in case they throw a couple of these things at you
You know, I wonder what makes the just infected bodies into black necro's? Are the necromorphs stronger shortly after infection, and then get weaker over time, or are the infectors more potent than what infected most of the ship.

So apparently Dead Space 2 might have multiplayer. Wonder how they'll make it work? Maybe hoard mode vs tons of necromorphs?
Something like L4D versus mode would be cool. It's like you and another engineer versus a bunch of regular cpu controlled necromorphs and 4 player controlled "boss" necromorphs.

I mean, REALLY? This engineering suit meant for work in hazardous environments, including the void of space, has only a minute-and-change built-in air-supply? I'm sure its only supposed to be an emergency backup and that they're supposed to have an attachable air-pack
This is correct, it's an emergency backup supply and it's not really meant to give the user long term operational ability in outer space.
He's right, though; an emergency backup supply of air that only lasted 60 seconds would be near useless.
The duration is clearly gameplay-driven, not story-driven.
I have precisely no problems with this.

I don't either have a problem with it. Given that it gives him enough time to run through a bulkhead or similar, it's not that bad at all for an emergency in getting back into the ship. It was not designed with working in space for protracted periods of time, but would save you from being killed when a bulkhead blew by accident (in fact we can see numerous times exactly this happening in game).
Someone mentioned a few pages back that the mining tools had unconventional features and abilities. I presume that Isaac disabled the safety locks and whatnot or simply readjusted a few circuits to make them killing machines.

Yea, most likely Issac disabled limiters and such, so the plasma cutter goes from short range to death beam, and so that the ripper can do things like launch the saw at high speeds. Though, I have to wonder why the ship had flamethrowers, besides to meet the "Must have flamethrower" checkbox

Contains the lore of the universe from Deadspace games, comics and anime.
And with that, someone should probably fire up a new thread.

They would have to increase the amount of necros and reduce the ammo, or keep it about the same though
