The problem I always have in that area is not getting the correct angle running toward the wall and then having to climb all the way back up there... Some places in the game aren't immediately obvious how to get somewhere, but that place wasn't one of them.
I see. My only other question is, are you able to disarm those automatic assault wielding troopers head on? I'm not sure if it's the only way or if it was just a subconscious tic I developed to help me with the timing, but I only ever had luck disarming them if I sort of sidestepped them when they went to butt me with their rifle.
[edit] But oh yeah, to trigger the ability to disarm them, you have to get close to them, so they start headbutting you. During that process of headbutting is where you get the ability for disarming (when their weapon turns red).
It works like that for all of them. Just different animation depending on what they're packing.
Different timing for each enemy too. The more powerful the gun, the less time you seem to have to react. The slo-mo function makes this easier. But they all can be disarmed.
well right, I gather. I could disarm everyone else with regularity except for the guards packing the assault rifles.
and like I said, the only way I seemed to be able to disarm them was if I sidestepped them. Their rifles seemed to only flash red for a split second after it seems they would have hit you. The question is, can you disarm them head-on or do you have to sidestep them and then disarm. And I am guessing the answer is no.

Actually if you check it, the most powerful gun, as you'll see in the video above, the stationary guy with his big ass assault rifle, their animation is the longest and easiest to counter.
You'll see on that first one, I actually missed because I went too fast, and then by clicking it again (you can't ever do this on normal SMG or pistol guys, you'll get hit in the head), because the dude is SO SLOW in his headbutting maneuver, I got him on the second go.
Yeah. He's slow as fuck tho, note the second one, I pretty much dance AROUND him as he tries to follow me with his automatic salvo, barely grazes me, but by the time he does, I'm already in front of him for him to start his headbutting animation, and it's adios for him at that point.

You're playing PC, right? I'm 'stuck' on 360. Precise controls are a fantastic myth... Headlong in slo-mo is the way to go, then shoot the other fuckers and continue on.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.
Question. Is the DLC map pack worth it if I'm only really interested in looking/jumping through pretty obstacle courses with some decent jumping puzzles? I'm not into speed runs, having gotten bored with them during the regular game after the first one or two.

I hated that part. Getting up there was a pain. Doing the jump was a pain. I knew exactly what I had to do, but it still took me 10 agonizing minutes.
Also do guns make things very much easier? I rented the game yesterday and did a no gun playthrough. That last shootout was insane.

BUT THEN YOU'RE KILLING INNOCENT COPS THAT ARE JUST SIMPLY TRYING TO KEEP ORDER WHILE YOU'RE THE EVIL ONE STEALING SHIT AND KILLING COPS!
WHERE IS YOUR MERCY?
On speedruns tho, oh yeah, you gotta kill em to be quick.

EDIT:
I did say 'seem'. The HMG guy is only tough if you time the rush up to him wrong. BUDDABUDDABUDDAdead.
S'what I figured. Wonder why it's giving me such trouble. Ah well. Fun stuff. I'll probably try my hand at the time trials sometime today.

Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
