Hey guys, well i am having a problem with my laptop, i think it's officially dead. But maybe you guys can help me. I woke up today and turned it on. Only to see that the screen wasn't entering the start up procedures. it makes the noises like the hard drive and and motherboard are starting up, there is power entering the laptop however that's it. Any suggestioln to how i can fix this problem? I have a three year warranty and it is a Toshiba.

Do you have an external monitor that you can attach to it and do you have the ability to attach said monitor to your laptop?

You might have to press a key combo to enable the external monitor port on your laptop. It is usually the Fn key + one of the F-number keys. There should be some kind of icon that looks like a screen, or it might even say "LCD/CRT" or something like that. If you can get a video signal, at least you know it it just the screen that is bad.

Also, can you see anything on your laptop display if you shine a bright light on it? Sometimes the inverter that powers the backlight on LCD screens will burn out, making the display dark, but still displaying a picture.

Either way, at least you are still covered by your warranty so you should be able to get it fixed.

My laptop has done this a couple of times, usually I can just unplug everything (everything, all usb drives, wireless card, powercable etc) from the laptop and then restart it and it powers up properly after a couple of attempts. Your problem might be a little different though.
