so whats the best looking helmet in the game (sans power armor)? if i can't find something better than a combat helmet soon, im gonna go shoot the sheriff and take his hat.
Peronsally I like the enclave power armor helmet. However, my sherrif apparently jumped off his balcony down onto the ramp that goes up over the clinic to moira's place. So I happen to also have his duster and hat too.

Okay, question about the RoboCo factory near Tenpenny Tower:
There is a computer mainframe in it. I can't activate it. What gives?
It's not a spoiler per see, but I'm paranoid.
It's part of the quest from Moira Brown.
Ah. I'm not at that part of her quest yet. She's just asked me to put a camera somewhere I really don't want to go.
The trick to that quest is to kill all the mirelurks BEFORE you get in there, that way you're technically not killing them and you complete the optional quest.
before you get the quest you mean.
easier way is
just to go in the side door which leads you to a sewer, run in and head right, come to the first egg sac and place the camera and then run out again.
Easiest way is
Dive under the water in the river right next to the building and enter through the sewer grate. You come up right by some eggs and never even see a mirelurk.
That would have saved me a lot of sneaking around and a "Yakety Sax" style-escape scene.
Not sure if this has been asked already, but what the hell is
Alfa Lima? I flipped this switch on some tower and I got a radio signal to Alfa Lima. All it was, however, was morse code. It was kinda creepy. What the hell is this?

I pretty much played it all weekend, which I never do anymore.
This whole thing with the Lincoln Monument and the people who have part of the statue has become my overriding goal in the game. Who cares where my dad ran off to. These guys are trying to restore a symbol.
And me an' my trusty chinese assault rifle are anglin' to help 'em. Super mutants, eh? More like super headshot targets.

...diving under the water, searching for a grate, swimming through a tunnel while trying not to run out of air, and then having to repeat the process on the way out is easier than stepping through a door and turning one corner.
Not only do you have to worry about running out of air if you aren't fast enough, but you're taking rad damage. Granted, rad damage isn't all that much of a problem in this game, but it's still something that is completely avoided by going through that side door.

I found another one of these radio signals not too far from Megaton. It was called Alpha Tango something. Just a lot of code. I assume if you knew how to read morse code, it would tell you something.
I also found another radio signal up northwest near the Republic of Dave with a little more substance.
It was a repeating loop of some guy saying his family needed help and he was holed up in some location I couldn't understand. I assume this is purely a cosmetic "I wonder what happened to that guy, I bet he died horrifically" moment and that the signal is from 2077 or something. It was kind of creepy so I quickly turned back to GNR only to hear "HE'S A HACKIN AN SLASHIN' AN WACKIN!"
I halfway expected the guy to get eaten by a Deathclaw mid-recording complete with death screams.

The grate in question is right next to the side of the building. It's hard to miss. You leap in, enter the grate, swim up to the surface, and step out of the water directly next to an egg clutch. I didn't drop below half my air on the swim in or out, and i picked up maybe 20 or 30 rads tops. Plus there was no chance of me killing a mirelurk, as I didn't even physically see one during the whole ordeal. I mean, if the yakkity sax approach is up your alley, I'm not saying it's difficult or anything, I just figured a few seconds of swimming and a couple dozen rads was pretty damn easy.

You could actually investigate that further and find the source, the same is possible with most of the other signals, there are usually a cave, manhole or house nearby with the ham radio that is broadcasting.

In case no one answered you:
Follow the signal till it gets stronger (no static at all) and look for a sewage drain. Some poor guy was stuck down there. There's a bobblehead under there I think.
Did you notice the crash before you got to the tower? It looked like a UFO, and there are some alien stuff laying on the ground if you look closely enough.

Trimming down the massive quote tree a bit.
I think you might be confusing the 'backdoor' method with the 'enter the door indicated by the quest marker' method, as only the latter of these two is going to result in any sort've yakkity sax chase. If you go through that back door, there is a short hallway, you turn right, and the eggs are right there. You might see a Mirelurk if you peer down the hallway past the eggs, but there is no fighting of Mirelurks on the way to or from the eggs... plus you don't have to swim.

No, I'm familiar with the back door as well. I opened it, crept inside, and a mirelurk came rumbling around the corner right in my face. I backpeddled out the door and went scouring the building thinking there must be an easier way. I hopped in the river on a whim and the sewer enterence was right there. But I definately ran into mirelurk-age almost immediately, even going the backdoor route. The sewer route was 100% lurk free.
I kinda want to go back there and clean that place out now, since it doesn't matter anymore. But mirelurks are dicks, and I don't feel like wasting the shotgun ammo/condition. Is there anything worth finding in there?
So, Animal Crossing has taken over my TV at this point. I'm still getting the urge to VATS out and headshot the animals from time to time, though. I'm not sure that's ever going to go away.
That would have saved me a lot of sneaking around and a "Yakety Sax" style-escape scene.
Yakkity sax is dead on.
Seriously that was the first time I realized that enemies would travel between levels. I escaped one floor with 6-7 mirelurks stacked up behind me, and then stopped for a second to orient myself.

Aye, that's a satisfying quest.
When I cleared out the slavers that have taken over the Lincoln Memorial, I painstakingly stacked what was left of their bodies into a large mound at the feet of Lincoln's statue and took some screenshots. Dirty slaver bastards. I only wish I had a flamer at the time to light them up. (I've not used a flamer before, can you set bodies on the ground on fire? I hope so, it would make for a great "revenge" screenshot)
I told the slavers where the slaves were, and they took off to the slave temple. I then met up with the slavers on the wasteland.. by planting a TON of land mines. As soon as they crossed them I opened fire with my Plasma Rifle, with my trust sidekicks: Dogmeat and The Robot.
I wonder if the game will still let you finish the Temple side of the quest, though. It's sometimes unaware of doublecrosses like the one you mentioned.

I went back to the Temple and they were all cheering at me for killing them. I guess they sensed it in the force.

Pwned SO hard.
That was the first quest I sought out with my Omega Lincoln character.
Something about wearing the hat and using the gun while killing those dirty slaver bastards felt appropriate.

Someone needs to make some kind of a "wagon" or "pushcart" mod (like an easily pushable or draggable object that doesn't slow you down which you can throw bodies into), so that you can cart the bodies over to Paradise falls and dump the slaver corpses in the middle of town, or into other screenshot-worthy victory situations. Maybe pile all of the slavers you find in the game into it, and then find a large cliff to drop it off of.
Depending on where you're looking at them when you press Z, it seems you can pick them up by different limbs. You can pick someone up by the leg and twirl them around, or by the shoulders and make them do a kind of macabre dance with their arms and legs flailing around. If you get someone spinning fast enough without losing your grip on them, you can let go at the apex of the spin and they'll go flying through the air.
I'm surprised no one has abused the corpse manipulation to post perverted shots of necrophilia or piles of bodies ala Abu Ghraib. You know there's some sick 12 year old out there playing with limbless female corpses for giggles.
It wasn't intentional, but entirely by accident there was a rather macabre position that the couple trying to escape Vault 101 got into when they were shot by the guards. I didn't manipulate it though, they just happened to fall that way (she was straddled over him with both legs, her head leaning against the wall). I was surprised enough at the coincidence to snap a screenshot... hadn't thought until just now about how macabre that was. I was just amused at the random chance/ragdoll physics ending up like that.
And admittedly, I have made a corpse pile... but it was a pile of slavers at the foot of the Lincoln memorial, so I think that's justifiable.

Hehe looking at my screenshots I just remembered the following from a random terminal:

Owner: Wilkins, Jenny
Offense(s):
4 Parking tickets (unpaid)
Note(s):
During tow perp entered into a screaming match with the driver claiming presence of an infant in the vehicle.
Upon further inspection after the tow, her baby was indeed in the back seat, we have since moved the child to lost and found and are holding it until Ms. Wilkins pay impound fines and retrieves her automobile"
EDIT: Also have a series of images of Nova doing that freaky headspin she sometimes does, the following is the freakiest of the images I have.
So is it possible to repair weapons completely? I know I'm unable to because I have a low skill in that area, but even the owner of the supply shop at Megaton couldn't repair it beyond 58%.

I think you're the only person in the wasteland who can get a 100% repair skill and thus make 100% repairs.
But pleasing the townspeople isn't really a good vs. evil decision. They are inconvenienced by the little war going on, yes. But the decision to kill another human should have karmic repercussions. Also, to counter your point, I get credit for completing the quest and stopping both parties, so it's not like I failed here.
During the investigation I was given the very distinct impression that the townsfolk were only somewhat inconvenienced by AntAgonizer when she first arrived on the scene (her ant army may have been smaller at this time). It was really only after the Mechanist started deploying laser-firing robots that things became significantly more dangerous.
I don't think the karmic hit is about failing to please the townsfolk. Letting the Mechanist continue is bad for the Commons as someone is eventually going to get their face melted by a Protector.
Of course, blowing someone's brain out the back of their skull because they won't listen to you isn't exactly saintly either.
