So I should basically kill him in the most painful way conceivable to a thousand Dark Gods, the moment I first lay eyes on him? Then drag his corpse through the desert while stopping to nuke it every 10 minutes, then finally dropping him into the dark radiated ocean?

    That would be a start.

    But it isn't enough.
Put him in the downed UFO and send that into the Sun? Along with all my mini-nukes. And Dogmeat to chew his limbs the whole journey? While looping the Enclave radio channel?

I wish I had bought the PC version. So many great mods like the ones that improve combat really quite dramatically, improve how many stimpacks there are (when you're carrying around 300 stimpacks, you know something is up).

Hehe yeah, some things are really unbalanced. I primarily use the Chinese Assault Rifle, Hunting Rifle, Sniper Rifle and .44 Handcannon. I'm more of a Wal-Mart-Ammo store than someone scavenging for life support.

    I have:

*Well over 600 5.56 rounds - and I use the damned rifle one clip at a time basically... if I'm not firing it constantly - I'm sleeping.
*Like 400 .32 ammo - and I used the hunting rifle for every single enemy up until 2 game hours ago.
    *More than 200 .308 ammo.
    *Like 200 .44 ammo.

And lots and lots of stimpacks, I use no other thing to keep my health up. Except sleeping in the beds of people whom I've shot - just to piss their ghosts off!

Edit: You take one trip through any random DC subway station and you won't need to worry about ammo until half the wasteland is wiped out.

You know, if there's one mod I want just as much as the killable children patch, it's one that allows me to sleep in the beds of my vanquished enemies / victims.

WHY CAN'T I SLEEP THERE, THE SON OF A BITCH IS DEAD AND HIS HOUSE BELONGS TO ME NOW

He's not central but he does
appear outside the enclave base kicking ass when you escape if you've released him (I dunno if he does it anyway if you don't), he's incredibly durable, has an infinite ammo laser gatling gun and I just couldn't be bothered firing him so he was there with me at the end.

And AI pathfinding is crap. They didn't expect you to take shortcuts? Jump over a small thing rather than walk all the way around? But your allies will charge straight through a locked door if you noclip through it.

Noclip (Tcl) works for EVERYONE when turned on, not just you, it leads to hilarious situations sometimes, but using noclip near any AI is pretty much asking for things to bug out on you.

Try turning on TCL and then shotgunning a corpse or an item or some sort, when you turn it back on the game will retroactively put all the physics that got stalled during TCL being on, on that item and it can sometimes go insane over it, pretty fun.

I just got to Lamplight Caverns. I took the Child at Heart perk, mainly because this is my first playthrough and I'm not concerned with having a perfect character (and just to see what it's like when I get to them), so I got in pretty easily.

That dude. The one who needs to get to Big Town.
I decided to escort him to Big Town. I nearly died from all the shit I went through. When I was nearly to Big Town, I turn around and it turns out that a Yao Guai has decimated Skippy or Stumpy or whatever. Some might be pissed after doing all that work, but I'm just glad his annoying, story-telling ass is gone.

I would have loved to see his reaction towards the shit-hole that is Big Town after going on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on AND ONANDONANDON about it, though.

I just take him outside and then sell him into slavery.

Or melt him while he has his birthday hat on with my plasma rifle.

    Either is satisfactory.

Yeah, it's time for me to do a Yakety Sax run through the Talon Fort Brannister base. Killed everyone outside and am now inside where the Commander with the missle launcher is at.

I, uh, don't have much health and no healing aids. I saved about 20 feet from where he is at.

Are there any water sources to drink from to replenish health? Toilets if you have to.

See, THIS is the kind of thing I think they were envisioning when they made this game, but failed at it because stimpacks were too plentiful. Choosing to drink in a toilet because it's the only way you're going to live... that's awesome.

I think the random number generator has decided it hates one of my characters. I discovered a new location only to be greeted with a full complement on Talon mercs, some raiders, a yao guai, and a mirelurk hunter. Then, when I was leaving, 2 more yao guai just over the next hill, and then a deathclaw. I'm only level 15!

Ya know, going through that Mireluke base while trying to do the side quest, jumping over tables while your friend laughs at you is only funny in retrospect.

Ooh, I got a wierd glitch on the PS3. I startred a new character, and whenever I try to turn to look another direction, the game jerks like crazy. Whenever I talk to someone, the screen spins in circles. What's up with that? It's only with that one character, as I loaded my other character and there's no problem.

The dart gun really helps if you don't do that well with Deathclaws. It turns their scary, superhuman speed into something of a walking/limping pace, so you can easily backpedal and kill them.

Playing on Very Hard myself and Death Claws are much faster then me, shred through even the best Power Armor like it was paper and they can take multiple shotgun blasts to the face at point blank without even flinching.

    Beat'd. Some thoughts
Overall I was pretty pleased with the story sequences of the game. My main concern is the abruptness with which the whole thing concluded. Really, the entire last sequence with Liberty Prime was just way too easy. Although the robot is hilarious, I felt it would've been a lot more meaningful for me and the rest of Lyon's Pride to make a last, desperate push against the Enclave, holed up securely inside the Jefferson Memorial. It was just way too easy, and the last battle with Colonel Autumn was a complete joke. I blew his head off in a single shot, and watched his lifeless body hurtle into the purified waters below.

Really, I'm not even sure what Liberty Prime was doing in that battle. The Brotherhood had tons of problems finding an adequate power source for the robot, then all the sudden BOOM! he's nuking everything in site. There should've been a series of side quests that let you put together a power source so LP could assist in the final battle. But he shouldn't have been the easy-button wrecking ball they made him into in this case. It made for nice visuals, but in a game that emphasizes choices and consequences, deus ex machina does not work well.

Oh, and how does one know the code for the Purifier. I took a few shots in the dark and eventually got it, but I'm wondering if there was something more overt that I missed?

The photographic ending was pretty meh, but honestly that was the least disappointing part for me. Had the entire final mission not felt so rushed and tacked on, I would've been a lot more satisfied.

I'll be starting another run soon. I'm starting from the absolute beginning, redoing all the Vault age sequences and everything. I'll have to see how much of the story sequences I can skip, because this time all I really want from the story is the Power Armor perk.

Lastly, I leave you with this picture of my character:

the favourite passage of your mother. I don't know how you're meant to know its the code, I accidentally gave it to Autumn during my interrogation and reloaded, I just picked a random answer, waited for it to fail and BAM, its the real deal.

    re: the code
It should be pretty obvious that the code is 216, seeing that the quote was from Revelations(? - I don't read the Bible) 21:6, your mother's favorite passage, about the waters of life. It's very fitting that your father would make that the code to purify all the water.

At first I was thinking "They never told me the code, dammit!" but after about ten seconds' thought I had it.

I should say thought that I loved playing this game, and am starting up a new character. Despite the ending, it's one of my top ones of the year.

EDIT: I was thinking a melee/unarmed build. Feasible?

Possible but definitly much harder then ranged. It is helped by you somehow being able to teleport in VATS.

It is going to be very tough without explosives or some other ranged weapon from time to time.

So I know something similar was posted before, and don't think I'm making a statement here. Fallout 3 was an incredible game.

But wow... the dialogue and voice acting in Fallout 2, I have to say, IMHO, was leagues better. Just listen to this, it's a different version of a conversation with an enclave soldier:

That is just slick. ( I wish I could embed it but I don't know how :P )

All you have to do to embed it is link directly to the page. You've linked to the flash object, which the system doesn't know how to embed.
