Damnit, don't spam the thread with a stupid huge fucking quote tree. I'm trying to get help here and it's totally making it impossible to see anything other than your giant red text. Try PM's.
Trying to fiddle with my video settings in TF2 on my new PC to get it up and ready to run.
I have all the latest drivers and all that jazz.
Hardware:
4950 HD Radeon
2.8 Core 2 Duo x64
OS:
Vista Premium x64
No matter what I put my settings to in the game, I get this weird "stutter" where the game is like choking, but not really. It almost looks like it's trying to force motion blur even though I have it turned off, and then it can't, so it just keeps choking.
TF2 is the only game it does this with. I can run HL2 and Portal perfectly fine.
I am sick and tired of message bombing people when I am trying to get a TF2 game going.
Therefore I have designed a group where like minded TF2 players (just like you!) can get together and plan a play session since everyone is busy with L4D.
Start a quote tree if you want into my inane, pointless, group and I will start inviting people.
Edit: VERY LARGE AND LOUD ATTENTION GRABBING TEXT (I forgot to add this part at first, sorry)
Warning: Anyone who joins the group can make announcements or plan events. You just need to be invited (again by anyone) to get in.

Yeah, 4850 sorry.
It's not overheating. I can run a plethora of games right afterward, including everything Source (except TF2) and everything runs silky smooth.
I started to get a "an error in hl2.exe has forced the program to shut down" (something to that effect) error when I would quit TF2 and no other source games. I just removed TF2 and am redownloading it in steam and seeing if it was just a faulty install or something.
If it was a constant problem in any other game I would say it could be heat or something wrong with hardware but everything I have on the machine runs excellent except it.
EDIT: Reinstalling didn't work.
EDIT2: Found some stuff on the hl2.exe stopping working. Someone put some instructions that are posted on like every message board on the web on how to add some permissions for it. Doesn't work for me. I try the command line stuff and I get an error 5 access denied. I can't for the life of me find the user settings in premium to do it through menus.
EDIT3: Dumped everything Steam/Source off my PC and doing a totally clean install of it, seeing if that helps.

WTF. This exact same shit started happening to me last night. It's like I would stutter at intervals that occured exactly 15 seconds apart from each other.

I was... I was actually playing a decent, even good, spy today.
I think the video inspired me, I was like pulling all kinds of "crazy" shit out of my ass. Also showed me a little of how spai should be played properly. Good times.
nah, i didn't cool it, but when me and you played yesterday it was running perfectly fine. and i had a good connection to the server we used because most of us were in the uk... so that leads me to think its a connection problem. thats why i said i think you were wrong, not thats you actually were wrong..
i might try cooling it too though if i get the problem again. I'm gonna see if my laptop will run without the battery in it, but with the power adapter plugged in. because the battery gets pretty damn hot..

Anyone notice how some things (mattresses and the copy machines in Highrise) are totally impenetrable? A steel wall, yeah that makes sense, but bullets should obliterate copy machines.
I don't know about you, but I always buy a bullet proof printer. Its a lot more expensive, but I think the advantages are apparent.

If you're receiving choke and bad packets, it really fucks your fps over. This happens with me too when I play on jobs/jonxps, on 24 players my fps dips down to 15, but on uk servers, my fps rarely goes below 35 on 24 player servers. I suggest you tune down your settings to medium, and on l4d type mat_queue_mode 2. It is alot stabler than the same command in tf2.

So I joined some different servers and it appears this only happens on Jobs server (of the PA servers). JonXP's works great.

yeah, I was on job's earlier (mostly because votealltalk works on it) and I was like "dizam this shit is jumpy", so I look in my settings and I'm like "huh, nothing's changed". I restart the game, blah blah, fiddle around, still there. So I'm like, "k, I'll try one of my other favorite server--wtf it works fine here"
