A sequel and threequel to Dirge of Cerberus of course!

    Dirge of Cerberus: Dirge Harder

    and

Dirge of Cerberus: Dirge Hard With A Vengeance

Maybe we could pretend that those spin-offs never happened.

I read it as "Dirge Herder".

Final Fantasy 11, we have big plans for you!

Bahamut has never really been a major character in an FF game so I don't think they would name anything after him. It's probably either a new franchise or Bahamut Lagoon.

I remember the good old days before Square started its Disney-esque trend of pumping out sub-par spinoffs of good titles. I also remember when they used characters besides emo/whiny/adolescent morons that made me want shove my head in a wood chipper. Maybe Square will be announcing that they've realized that emo kids are bullshit characters and they will now instead use rad monsters that don't give a shit about their father leaving home?

FF12 came so close to having an all-stellar cast, but they just had to throw in a couple stupid kids to broaden the appeal, didn't they?

I'm fine with SE pumping out whatever they want as long as it helps finance getting FFXIII and vsXIII FUCKING RELEASED ALREADY. I need me some next-gen JRPGs that remind me of why I love the genre, and there haven't been any yet this generation (although there have been plenty of competent and enjoyable ones, nothing that rocks my world like a new FF title)

Possibly. the cutscenes being totally devoid of content, and making up the majority of the game, makes that not really enough.

Looks reasonable enough as a DS game.

Vaguely off topic, but am I the only person who feels that the whole merger thing was damaging to Enix, who frankly always made better games?

Yes. Heh.. guess its individual though. I've always liked and thought square did a better job and they're games were more engaging. Enix was always just DQ for me, which I thought was always slower paced with less than memorable characters. Ymmv.

    Bah.

Very FFXII-looking, which is GOOD. FFXII was aces, even if it wasn't like every other FF out there. One of the best games I've played. Beautiful, great story, fun side quests. Great rich backstory and world.

I am issuing an edict: S/E is no longer allowed to release teaser art that is an order of magnitude better looking than the game it is showcasing. The teaser art for FFXII was a pretty damn accurate representation of the game. This? Just a LITTLE off.

I would have to say you're pretty wrong there considering most modern gamers didn't even know who the hell Square was prior to Final Fantasy VII. I grew up on Square, and was right there with the release of FFI on the NES, but they were niche as hell before VII was release on the Playstation.
