Cell phone browser support?

I have noticed that some forums out there now can detect if you are using a mobile browser on a cell phone and strip out all the graphics and stuff from their sites and serve up a text only web site. Does PA have anything that? I do come here on my phone at times and although it is possible to browse it is a bit more painful than it would be with a wap version of the site.

There was a mobile version a long time ago - I think I posted a thread about it a while ago but I can't remember the outcome. It'll be worth seeking that out.

There is no mobile version of the PA forums, unfortunately.

The forums work great on my Blackberry Storm but for some reason it lags out when I start typing in a box such as the one I'm typing in now, I think because it's rendering your input on the page, so it slows it down. But it does that on some other sites, too.

They generally work on Opera 4.2 for the Storm and it's a LITTLE quicker because when you move into a text entry field, like this one, you go to a new screen, so it's not rendering your text on the page itself.

Anyway, yeah. Some kind of mobile version would be snazzy but I'm sure that's a lot of work.

    How does opera handle Javascript?

That's been my big complaint about IE mobile; I can't mod from my phone.

It works but it's tetchy. I find myself switching between the Blackberry browser and Opera Mini 4.2 because some Java-enabled sites don't work well in one and some don't work well in the other.

Hey look someone that's trying to sell iPhones!

The only comment I would make in regards to this is that the iPhone has something whacky going on with the text size where some of the text is small and the other text is larger.

I really have no idea if it is safari at fault of the website.

i've noticed something weird with the forums and the Android browser. If I click on the newest-post button next to a thread title, it'll often take me to a few pages back in the thread instead of the newest post

i don't know why since I thought the link was generated by the forums based on the last post in the thread i viewed and not the browser's cache or whatever

Replace "showthread" in the URL with "printthread." This could probably be done automatically with a plugin or user script if mobile browsers support them.
