I liked the concept of the last fight in the Nexus. But in practicality... it's really stupid. All you have to do is jump. So for the entire fight, everybody's just jumping in place like a retard. It looks unbelievably silly.

I just read on MMOchampion that all, ALL, of the endgame PvE content has been cleared by the monstrocity that is Nihilum and SK-Gaming combined.
Everything. Every endgame raid boss, all cleared.
EDIT: On that note, I see that they put a message wondering if 'blizzard has buckled to the casuals...'
Go fuck yourself, you high and mighty douchebags. Like hell should the endgame be based around the needs and wants of a couple of gentlemen sitting at home pooping in socks and smelling like piss. I really doubt that anyone would have been stuck in MC but for the FR. I doubt that AQ would have been a cockblock butfor the NR. Fights are, for the most parts, extremely simple once you get down the basics, and retarded gear checks are put in place as artificial roadblocks to the big name endgame guilds. All these do is ruin the experience for the people that come after, who are skilled and talented, but have no desire to grind out nonsense, bullshit gear requirements.
If you want to make the argument "Make the fights require more skill to master, more skill to complete!" I'll hear your cries. But creating fights that require top end skill to master every point of finesse is difficult, and I would rather those fights appear as the expansion goes on, as opposed to less than seventy two fucking whores (I like this typo, I'm leaving it in).
If blizzard is building their game anew, starting from the ground up, it only makes sense to have the opening content be *surprise* opening content! For fuck's sake, let's not have the defining factor of our endgame experience be 'retarded gear checks.'
That said, I do hope that the raids are challenging in their own right. I can only surmise that being in the beta and having already done Naxx in vanilla contributed to their apprehension of the instance(s). Kara had simple, effective strategies. ZA (except the bear, fuck you bear) had wonderfully designed fights that depended (fuck you bear) primarily on skill. The only thing I will lament is if we all walk into Naxxramas and say "Oh hey, it's UBRS 3.0"

In defense of a few of "those people," some of the quests in Northrend are horribly worded and confusing as fuck. I mean they're doable, but it's not weird to ask for help.

I read the debuffs of new debuffs. I would be surprised if people didn't. The hard part is noticing the debuff in the first place when you're not expecting it.

The thing about that whole Nihilum/Sk questioning the difficulty of the new content that I find so stupid is that they act like it just took them the time from launch to making the kills to do it. Add in all the time you fucks spent practicing and learning the fights on beta!
Just finished Ampitheater of Anguish and then Gundrak. Had a 75 (me), three 76s, and a 77. Easy and entertaining; the Ring of Blood v2.0 bosses are much more interesting than the originals, and getting like 35k XP per boss kill is helpful.
I'm up to 78 now, mostly been questing and occasionally instancing with a few people from my raid. Dalaran and a lot of the zones seemed really good so far, but I have a feeling that I'm going to dislike them when more people show up. Dalaran was a nice little almost private city, having it turn into the new Shatt is going to kind of suck. There were also a few times when I was alone flying over some of the zones and they were just epic feeling, like being at the end of the world, which of course will be ruined once everyone and their mother is there.
I'm also pretty disappointed at how simple the instances (and apparently the raids also) are. I cleared every instance with my questing group and a few other people, generally several levels under the cap. The only reason we stopped running instances was when we finished Gundrak we couldn't fly up to the halls of stone. Once most of us had hit 77 we went and did all the rest of the instances for the northrend dungeonmaster achievement. We had a 77/78 prot warrior tank, 77/78 holy paladin, 79 lock, 76 warrior, and myself on my 77 druid. We didn't really have any huge problems once the paladin specced holy. It was really kind of a let down, hopefully the heroics will be a bit harder, and the achievements should make them more interesting.
Having said all that, most of the boss fights in the instances are really fun, or at least have an interesting mechanic. It was neat seeing a mix of both new things and some of the cool raid boss mechanics repeated. The oculus was really neat (fuck the third boss though), and the dwarf instances had some neat lore. I actually didn't particularly enjoy the culling of strat, I probably won't run that after I get the heroic achievements finished.
There were a couple of 10 mans going into naxx on my server tonight, and one of them had cleared 3 wings and was wiping to thaddius when I logged. I think my raid will be going in on friday assuming we can find the dps (!!!) to go. It's a bit ridiculous, we've got the tanks and healers for a 25 man, but very few dps, and most of them won't be 80 by the weekend. I'll honestly be a bit sad if we end up clearing it this weekend.
Are you geared in T6/Sunwell? Because then I can understand why you're complaining about it being "easy" as the curve wasn't as harsh as TBC so T6/SW stuff is about level 77-ish in power so you're easily overgearing dungeons lower than there, and since the 77+ dungeons require flying, thus forcing you to be 77, then you're equal-level by definition.
DKs are so incredibly fun that at this rate, she'll pass my main. Five-manning instances with only DKs is fun, since they have large survivability, can deal great damage and can self-heal.
I just wish professions were easier to raise, especially with the huge inflation that is going to be happening here. Oh well.
I've been really enjoying the new instances, going in totally oblivious to what is going to happen makes for some fun times. There havn't been any tank, spank, collect loot fights, they have all had some fun little mechanic to spice it up. I love that there are loads of little dead ends in all the dungeons, it makes them feel less linear (much in the same way HL2 does, there is only 1 way to go but all the little dead ends make it feel bigger), we spent ages in the old kingdom trying to find the way to go.
EDIT: Also I think many may be finding them too easy as they are probally tuned to a non tank specced tank and a non healer specced healer in leveling gear. If you go in with a prot warrior and holy paladin in t4+ gear then of course it's going to be a breeze.
We are in t6 gear, but even the 80 instances seemed fairly trivial. There was definitely a jump over the other ones though when the healer was ret and we still breezed through them. It's nice that the dungeons aren't tuned to be difficult, but because of all the mechanics I would think twice about pugging them anyways. Really I just thought it was a bit ridiculous that we were able to basically breeze through the 80 dungeons being 77. Seems like a lot of stuff has been undertuned.
I'm still really impressed by all the different mechanics in the dungeons. It's really apparent when you're chain running the dungeons how much effort they must have spent on all of them. It's also way more fun going into a fight without knowing anything about it and figuring out the trick on the fly. Fights like the ones in the oculus or some of the utgarde pinnacle ones were really fun to do the first time even if they weren't necessarily super challenging. Thats one of the things that was disappointing about the culling. It's a fairly long instance that involves a lot of tedious running about, and the bosses are really boring. They didn't seem to have anything special, or at least nothing that couldn't be zerged through trivially.
Hah, oh man. I know I shouldn't be laughing so hard at such blatant toilet humor but whoever wrote the quest chain in Grizzly Hills where you have to recover the seeds deserves a promotion.
Well, 79 since last night. Will be 80 today. I didn't cheat like all of the world/server first 80's.
I'm glad WoW finally got rid of all the fedex quests. Once you hit 75+ there are hardly any more of these and you get to do some really unique things. It has been lots of fun, though sometimes slightly frustrating. (Quest to fly on a dragon and act like ergon and fight mobs 'dragon back'). I'd suggest questing and not exploiting or just grinding.
DKs are so incredibly fun that at this rate, she'll pass my main. Five-manning instances with only DKs is fun, since they have large survivability, can deal great damage and can self-heal.
I just wish professions were easier to raise, especially with the huge inflation that is going to be happening here. Oh well.
I've grabbed two gathering skills in case I actually get bored leveling my DK. No sense leveling a creation skill at the moment.
I am a little worried that I'm not going to get bored leveling my DK though. :winky:

Oh my god this instance we've been doing for 2 months on beta is so easy, fuck you blizzard and your casual catering blah blah blah. Yes, I agree Nihilum can go fuck themselves. And you are correct, in the past Blizzard has had to make a lot of bosses just plain retarded to beat in order to stall people, along with resistance fights to pace people as well. Also factor in that Sunwell gear is equal to blues you'd be wearing at 80 and you don't have to gear up at all, Naxx is fucking balanced around people just getting to 80 with totally shitty gear, not fuckin Nihilum. Sorry, pricks.
I say we go back to not beta testing raid instances anymore, so it's all exciting and fresh and bug-free when you see it.
That was great that one time Blizzard did it, right?
I don't think anyone is discounting the importance of beta testing encounters in order to tune them properly and flush out all the bugs. It's simply the attitude of these guys saying "Oh it was so easy for us to plow through the same content that we've beta tested for months. Blizzard is obviously catering to the casuals."
In other words, these guys are full of shit and need to get over themselves.
It's really a lot less that they've been testing it already, and a lot more that Naxx is tuned to be extremely easy. If they didn't know this already, then well, I don't know what to fucking tell them.
I'd be impressed if they managed all the raid achievements or something like that this fast, but if not they can really fuck off.
The only dumb thing is they act all surprised about:
1.) The content being easy
2.) Blizzard going more casual
And only because Blizzard flat out said they didn't plan on doing any raids as difficult as SWP in the future. And at least D&T had made a post about how SWP was the only decent raid they had made since the original Naxx. So if you take the best of the two top uber guilds and throw them at the entry level content of a newer, easier era.. well what did you expect?
No reason to be pissed at them for blowing through content, but they should feel dumb for looking around like, "why wasn't it all hard yo?"
You mean, I can see the same content that 25 man raids are doing because I actually work and don't live off Mommy and Daddy's dime and I don't need to farm resistance gear for 98 fucking hours? Say it isn't so.

Yes, this is exactly what I mean. If they're surprised at it being easy I really don't know what to fucking say, all the signs have been there so far.
It's pretty clear the instances were designed with pickup groups in mind. They're short, easy and forgiving of weird class composition. Some of our people cleared 10 man naxx yesterday in basically T6/sunwell gear, and regular instances are just that much easier.
People were having the argument about difficulty in /gchat the other day. My sense is that stuff is a little too easy, at least so far, but this is without having done any raiding. The bottom line is that while super-difficult raids provide a compelling challenge for a tiny percentage of guilds, they don't make sense from really any other angle. Ideally I'd like to see complicated encounters tuned low enough that progression wasn't super gear dependent; let people see the content, let hardcore folks gear up their alts.

Their probably tuned for the gear you'd get just leveling up in Northrend, not the raid gear from Outland.
My shoulders and my main hand dagger (and those were mild upgrades at best) and I'm sitting at level 74. It frankly sucks that I have to still wear T4 gear that I've been in for the past ten months being nearly halfway through the leveling process because people whined about replacing gear too quickly in TBC. It's unbelievable; most of the quest rewards I've seen so far are worse than Karazhan loot. That's mildly understandable for the very first quest rewards you get upon stepping into Northrend, but at 73-74?
Oh well, I'm still loving the expansion. Howling Fjord is a more interesting zone than a majority of Outlands, in my opinion. Just got to Dalaran last night, bought my burr, and I can't wait for Grizzly Hills.

You will replace most ZA/T4-5 stuff through out 75-78 if you do the long quest chains and dungeons that provide blues.
Damn he's fun to play, and I'm glad I picked him over my warrior or warlock. Unfortunately I'm going to have to slow leveling now because of work
But still, He's amazing, I kill things so fast, take nearly no damage while grinding, and am able to tank instances.
I tanked Nexus at level 70, and Utgarde Keep at level 71. My aggro generation is insane, but my survivability is obviously not as good as a warrior's. Right now, in frost pressence my hp is around 12500 unbuffed, and I've got about 57% damage reduction through armor. I'm spec'd unholy, but for damage, so I skipped a lot of damage mitigation talents that I could have gotten, but I'll probably respec at 80 (or sooner) depending on what capacity I'm most often being used for. It seems tanks are a rare commodity in Northrend right now.

"We want raiding to be more all inclusive."
"Raiding is going to be a bit simpler, and more casual oriented."
"We don't like catering to 1% of the population with ultra-hard Naxx/SWP-style raid cock-blocks."
"We're toning down raids a bit."
"The first set of Wrath raids are basically Kara-style entries to raiding."
4 months of beta with learning the instances.
Nihilum: WTF BLIZZ THIS IS TOO EASY
Yeah a little warning would be nice.
Also it totally had nothing to do with learning the instance beforehand.
Right.

I feel so conflicted on this subject. I want to see new content, and I hate being held back by the idiots I tend to raid with, but I don't want idiots to get gear. I mean, it was really cool in Vanilla, walking around, seeing a guy in Naxx gear, and thinking "Oh, wow, what an accomplishment." I don't want to lose that, I don't want to turn raids into a weekly dress-up game, and I especially don't want to see bad players running around, looking like gods when they haven't really earned anything. But I feel awful for the smart people in one of my previous guilds, who all tended to be tanks, that were stuck with mouth breathing roleplayers because the 2 tanking spots in all the top guilds were all taken.
Oh it's just a big predicament.
Easier or not I'm really looking forward to playing my Resto Shaman in Wrath, though. But I hope to god we get some Brut-like encounters.

This might sound childish, but no one in my guild is having fun
We were *THE* top raid guild on our server pre-wotlk and there was this huge burden
We decided not to do the *you have 2 weeks to level to 80* rules and are just trying to advance
What does it feel like? A giant suck
Did we miss something? Or has the game changed?
Id much rather be playing non-deathknight alts in outlands than doing Wotlk on my main
They exploited to level anyways so who cares. Don't cater to "top guild" who does nothing else but play.
Explain please - I'm hearing a fair amount abou tthis.
Bitter nerd syndrome.
Nobody did anything outrageous. The guy who was leading was chain running Utgarde Keep where he would drop group, tag a bunch of mobs, they would kill them so he got boosted exp from having the tags solo, then reinvite before the 60 second boot to town. They ended up getting banned which is pretty fucking stupid.
The next in line made 80 by having an out of group healer follow them around.
Basically people played within the mechanics of the game and some people are bent about it.

People view it more like a burden or job than actually enjoying the game
I wish blizzard would take note of this instead of tripling the amount of xp needed to advance

I heard (And this is just a rumor), that someone hit 80 in like 13 hours play time doing this, and was subsequently banned because it was considered exploiting. He was doing the first thing you mentioned, having a group of players aoe a group of mobs down to 10% then having them all leave the group and the one player got all the kills.
I don't necessarily take much stock in this though, I would think that once you get too far ahead of your group of people tapping your mobs you'd be stuck unable to use that strategy anymore until they caught up, right?

Just because some people treat it that way doesn't make it Blizzard's fault. I'm taking my time and having an awesome time just doing quests. It sounds like a personal problem.
I don't think they should get banned. Oh hey, you did something we didn't account for, uhh, banned! What do I care if a few people want to power to 80, doesn't effect my enjoyment of getting to 80.

It has been lots of fun, though sometimes slightly frustrating. (Quest to fly on a dragon and act like ergon and fight mobs 'dragon back'). I'd suggest questing and not exploiting or just grinding.
I'd be impressed if they managed all the raid achievements or something like that this fast, but if not they can really fuck off.
Yes, this is exactly what I mean. If they're surprised at it being easy I really don't know what to fucking say, all the signs have been there so far.
Ideally I'd like to see complicated encounters tuned low enough that progression wasn't super gear dependent; let people see the content, let hardcore folks gear up their alts.
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
Oh well, I'm still loving the expansion. Howling Fjord is a more interesting zone than a majority of Outlands, in my opinion. Just got to Dalaran last night, bought my burr, and I can't wait for Grizzly Hills.
You will replace most ZA/T4-5 stuff through out 75-78 if you do the long quest chains and dungeons that provide blues.
I do wish the gear was better too...

Right.
Explain please - I'm hearing a fair amount abou tthis.
Maybe winter is depressing
Bitter nerd syndrome.
Nobody did anything outrageous. The guy who was leading was chain running Utgarde Keep where he would drop group, tag a bunch of mobs, they would kill them so he got boosted exp from having the tags solo, then reinvite before the 60 second boot to town. They ended up getting banned which is pretty fucking stupid.
The next in line made 80 by having an out of group healer follow them around.
Basically people played within the mechanics of the game and some people are bent about it.
This just went to show how boring and stupid leveling has become
People view it more like a burden or job than actually enjoying the game
I wish blizzard would take note of this instead of tripling the amount of xp needed to advance
Want to do something great with the game? More Dr. Weevil quests
Max level quest chains which involve exploring the world, killing epic bosses and team work
Make the player FEEL like a hero
